Laminate flooring 01/11/26(Sun)04:21:15 No.2970191 I installed laminate flooring on an uneven mortar surface. Walking on the floor feels and sounds like shit, but my other family members say it’s fine and that I’m just exaggerating.
Is laminate supposed to sound this shitty even with proper subfloor? I am so bummed out.

You didn't just put it straight down did you? There's underlayment padding you're supposed to use even going down on a decent surface.

With padding?
Maybe it'll settle

2/2
I want to add that the mortar bed has dips because of the ceramic I demo’d.
I don’t even know what to do anymore. I just want to know if it’s gonna last for at least 5 years without major problems.

This is why you use self-leveling compound first. But it will probably settle, if no one else is complaining, just let it be. It's not likely to fail just because of this, obviously depending on just how much variation you have.

01/11/26(Sun)13:35:58 No.2970224 I have the same issue in my hallway. I didn't level the subfloor at all there and the pieces are always gaping apart after a few months. I'm just going to glue them all together but not down.

01/24/26(Sat)19:34:25 No.2972740 it'll get a little less rigid and settle down some over the next few months.
this will possibly coincide with some gaps showing up, but its whatever.
