You can do it with a 9v battery and some cotton. Lots of guys who make knives do that way, so there's a lot of videos explaining the process.

i am a dental student, the same acid thats used to etch teeth (hydrofluoric acid) for composite filling etches aluminum surfaces to a dull surface

i put some concentrated vinegar through my dishwasher empty, then the next load all my metalware came out super shiny
