What are your opinion on MA-1 style jackets?
I'm an American living abroad, I fully denounce the US military industrial complex and ZOG.
That being said, I think these look kinda tuff. I dig the silhouette, and with spring coming up it seems like the perfect jacket you could just throw on over a shirt and be ready for any kind of weather. Also, my wardrobe is like 75% black, white, and grey, and this kind of drab olive seems like a safe color to branch out into.
Any brands I should be on the lookout for? Preferably something without any excessive pockets or any of those spergy fake tough guy patches.

The fuck that gotta do with anything? This is a fashion board get the fuck outta here

personally I dig MA-1s. I think at this point they're ubiquitous enough within pop culture of the last few decades that it doesn't look too larpy if you throw one on. The only ones I care about are the autistically reproduced japanese versions from Real McCoys or Buzz Rickson.

I also like the silhouette but I find the angled pockets impractical for anything besides hand warming and the stand collar is annoying, as an aviator jacket it's also designed for below freezing and not practical for spring, a synthetic/less lined variant won't have the same look
You would be better served by a WW2 pattern tanker jacket.

I got an Alpha Industries MA-1, and my chad cousin who used to fuck bitches before he found Jesus gave me a compliment on it. Also an middle-eastern girl who works at my favorite Mediterranean place liked it. So I like it, and seems other people do too.

the only way they make sense to me is on top of a hoodie, it looks weird imo without a hood coming off it. I had a couple ~8 years ago and they felt pretty fresh then, but nowadays nobody wears them and thrift racks are loaded with them. At least in my city

Bombers come and go in and out of style periodically, but at this point they're ubiquitous enough to be considered a staple of mens fashion rather than a statement piece.
Nobody will bat an eye if you're wearing an olive drab bomber over regular clothes.
Get yourself an Alpha Industries if you want decent quality. Or a vintage surpluss if you find one.

vintage surplus shit is always priced out of a fucking asshole, maybe on facebook some unwitting granny selling her hubbie's old crap is not going to charge you 500 bucks for a ripped smelly shit stained bomber but everybody else will
only our Chinese brothers doing cheap repros can save us from this hell

are you at risk of triggering stolen valor fags if you wear surplus army shit? i saw what looked like a vietnam-era army jacket in great condition at my local thrift, no tags or patches or anything like that, but i didn't get it because i'm afraid private ramirez will sperg out at me if he sees me standing in line at starbucks

No. You can even leave patches on old used stuff. A lot of dudes get stuff from parents or mentors that they wear even when still in that has rank above their grade and badges they didn't earn. Nobody calls it out because it's not currently issued shit and if someone asks, you don't claim you earned any of that shit. Just say it was a cool jacket and don't sperg out about it. I still wear some of my issued items, and I made a friend because of it.

You'd be shocked at how small the world is. I had some Russian dudes come up to me and start talking (in Russian) about the Ukranian SOF camo parka I was wearing. Once they figured out I was just a gear nerd and not a Ukrainian they backed off.
This happened in HTX btw. World is way smaller than you think so watch what you wear. Even patch less.

Based Moto jacket, has a 80's UK skinhead aesthetic to it though here, they wore them in grey.

NTA but the other day I saw a Buzz Rickson B-15C in good condition for just under $300. Size L though (I wear an XL, not fat, I lift) and blue which I don't really like. Still kinda regret passing on it thoughbeit.

You convinced me. Bought the Buzz Rickson William Gibson version at Self Edge just now. First MA-1 I’ve ever worn and it’s incredible. Heavier than I thought it would be, which is fucking awesome. The wool-lined hand pockets are also so nice

Shut up nerd. No one cares. We’re talking about clothes. We weren’t reading into your opinion on that.

I am 6’-1” and have pretty broad shoulders from lifting and this feels perfect, I went with the size 44. Are you really short with broad shoulders, or really tall? I would imagine that if you aren’t a complete manlet it would proportionally look okay on you. If however you’re really short and stocky, sizing up to get the right amount of shoulder width would end up making you look like a complete mountain dwarf
>>
>>18642692
I'm 5'8", but I have 20" shoulders. It has exactly that effect. The cool part about milsurp is that the sizing is both width and height, so I can do fine with a med-short. I have that Shoko-tan abnormality. Basically I have the torso of a taller person and the legs of a much shorter one. I've thought about cutting weight and going down to right around 145lbs, but I'm not sure if I'm willing to sacrifice that much for fashion.

> I fully denounce the US military industrial complex and ZOG.
Why did you feel this was necessary to preface your question about bomber jackets with? Wanting to buy a bomber jacket doesn't have anything to do with supporting the military, lmao.
Repro brands are a good bet if you want something classic Real McCoys, Buzz Ricksons are fine places to start
If you want fashion brands, just about every brand under the sun has done a bomber jacket really depends on what kind of style you want. puffy, or slim? contemporary or vintage? Basically, every brand under the sun has done a version of them.
>>18633670
They've been a part of the menswear canon for 80 years at this point, yet somehow every single year there's a thread on /fa/ repeating this nonsense hahaha, very dumb.
>>18633700
This is a great example of a garment that has high potential to mog the wearer. This would look very stupid on a lot of the posters here.
>>18633715
It simply isn't necessary to, no one is assuming you love the MIC and ZOG just because you're wearing a bomber jacket lmao.

They will however, assume that if you make the mistake of wearing your dad's PCU Level 5 jacket because you lack a windbreaker.

What's the relationship between Buzz Rickson and Self Edge? I thought BR was a Japanese thing. Does SE measure you and then place the order from BR? Sorry if dumb, I just want to know what I'd be getting

L-2B sits too high on the waist and almost looks like a crop top, it's also unlined so the silhouette is like a deflating party balloon when worn and it lacks the inner storm flap of the MA-1 so insulation is worse too, only thing it has going for it is more secure hip pockets.
