I'll admit the specs can be impressive for the price, but honestly almost none of these chink watches do anything for me. The design of a watch is far more important to me than having a sapphire crystal or X hours of power reserve. Most of these chink watches are blatant ripoffs of western designs and have names I'd be embarrassed to say out loud. 1963 is cool though, there's at least some original design and heritage there.

I like original designs, and most of these Chinese watches are barely a step above counterfeit. I like their domestic market (which actually has original designs) better than their western facing market of copycat aliexpress watches.

It's like fake cola.
Even if Poor Cola has the same formula than Coca Cola, you will never be sure for certain, and if you know that you're not drinking the real thing, you will not enjoy drinking it like you enjoy the real thing.
It's mental, yes, but also a very real feeling that will never leave you.

The citizen eco drive from goodwill showed up and it works, it is counting double time though which apparently it will do if the watch is coming back from a dead charge which this thing definitely was not charged and was probably kept in a box. I left it near artificial light and saw all hands were working but apparently direct sunlight will charge faster so I stopped the movement and have that thing on a window sill for today. Should get a good amount of light today, it looks damn pretty though, very happy with finally having something nicer than my casios.
>>

>it will do if the watch is coming back from a dead charge
good info, good to know.
it's a really handsome watch. nothing particularly special but way nicer than casios, except maybe oceanus. there's an anus that I like but I think your ecodrive looks better than most anus models, although maybe anus is better spec, I'm not sure.
but anyway yours is cool.

I'm happy to answer any questions anyone has about these fine watches. This OP didn't set a $5 limit like usual, so I can showcase these $2 watches. Great quality for the price. They run well.
These are QUARTZ watches by the way. Usually you can't get autos for less than $3.
And despite what appear to be pushers on the right, these are not true chronographs.
Isn't that something?
>>

I like the one in the middle. Of course it's not nearly as great as the $1,000 original. I really hope someday I can have that. Hamilton is a solid company with a rich history that makes their watches worth one thousand U.S. dollars. If you don't think so you must be poor.
Hamilton is also for poors who can't afford Rolex, which let's be honest, is the best watch in the world.

Unfortunately they imitate western dress style so no sub 500 dollar watch is safe. They wear Casio or anything with fake gold color. The only way to avoid it is buying luxury watches a jeet could never afford.

I don't want a Rolex though. That's such a fucking lame notion that Rolex is the pinnacle of watch ownership. My ceiling keeps getting higher, but I really can't ever, ever imagine wanting a watch over $1,000.00. There are some $500 watches I've been eyeing. But wearing anything over $150 has me being all cautious of my arm movements and just overly aware that I'm wearing something I don't want to ding up or scratch. That feeling would increase exponentially the more expensive the watch is.
I like all of my watches. There are a handful I'd have not bought in hindsight, but I learned from each purchase and I enjoy what I have. No Rolex and no regrets.

Well they appear to be over $300 and even over $400 for a very basic watch that isn't going to be any better spec-wise than an Orient nearly half the price. Sell me on why you want one.
A V157-0BB0 looks about the same but will go forever and cost you less. If you do really want that style in an automatic there are better watches for less money. But if it's about Seiko for you then just get what you want. I spent extra money on a Seiko when I found the one I wanted. But for a watch that looks like the SZS I don't need it to be Seiko.
I don't like talking people out of things. Unless you can't really spend the money but you want it super badly anyway. Either get something cheaper or wait a bit. You're going to do what you want anyway. We can't influence you.

Help me decide, fellow poorfags. $139 for the left, $135 for the right. Free shipping. I'm going to order one of these Sinn homages.
I love the MiliFortic I have (same company as Baltany) and both of these also deliver the goods:
NH38, Sapphire with AR, signed screwdown crown, 100m, a strap I know is great leather because it's the same as my jump hour.
It feels like I have enough watches without numbers and that design already. This would be like THE all-purpose daily driver.
>>
File: militadoSinn.png (105.1 KB)
105.1 KB PNG
Of course for half the price of those I could get the Militado in quartz. I love my Murph at that price. Love it. Beautiful sweeping seconds.
And this is 38mm, which I prefer to 39, but the lug to lug is 47.5 where on the MiliFortic 39mm the L2L is 45.7. So in the end I think the auto will look better and just be better all around. Like if I could get an automatic Murph for this price I absolutely would.
So I'm probably going to go for the 556 homage with the numbers.
Now I know some will say "just save up for the real thing", but this is not the thread for that and I looked it up. We're talking about $2K here. I thought maybe it would be priced like a Hamilton or a spendy Seiko. Not even close.
So it's really a matter of which homage I get.

So the 'tado can be had for as low as $50 actually (that's a great deal if it's as good as their murph).
You can really see the difference in the lug length. But notice the minute hand is longer too. I remember one reviewer complaining that it was too short on the MiliFortics. I'm looking at those pics and they look fine to me. It was like those Orients someone messed up some minute marker gaps on and everyone was like "do NOT buy this watch". Like who the fuck cares? It looked fine to me, even cool.
The minute hand just slightly overlaps which is more than enough.
Most of all I'm excited that it has no other complications. Nice and plain, unlike the original. And the matte black is better for me too.
Check out what this AE seller is trying to pull. $265 for the SAME watch but with a shitty nylon strap. Meanwhile I'm pulling the trigger on the official site for half that price with real leather, a 2 year warranty, and faster shipping.

For people wanting the Alpinist but not the thousand dollar price tag, Milifortic also makes a version. Might be worth checking out. They have a pretty good reputation. Do this before buying an Alpinist on ebay for that price. Trust me.
And I just saw they do offer the Murph in auto for $160. It's 39mm however and I'm perfectly happy with my 38mm mecha-quartz.
>>
File: BernySinn.png (218.3 KB)
218.3 KB PNG
Goddamn, how deep does this go? For $86 I can get a Berny that's both Titanium AND Automatic. And I can get it with a domed crystal if I want, or a sterile dial, or different colors. Bernys are pretty good too, but I don't hold them in the high regard of the Mili__ competitors.
But it's a good option for someone who wants those specs for less money. Berny makes a nice titanium, but I don't know if I want to buy auto from them. I don't know if their Miyota 8210 has hacking or not. The ones I have do, but some apparently don't. Berny would maybe be a watch that doesn't. Eh, it's 40.5mm anyway. I don't want it that big. Maybe one of you guys will.
That's enough out of me. I got a coupon for $5 off and checked out. I'll post it when it arrives.

Good thing I saved all these. This is kind of in that style. There are a lot of different ones with dates and around $50-$60.
I have the ad2066 in mint and it's great. I've been wearing it a lot more lately. I also have the Berny 2676MS which comes in dark blue and is comparable to what you want for under $40.
Just go to a watch site and type in 36mm quartz date and then input a price range. It's more fun to do it yourself anyway.

Maybe. But like I said, I'm nervous even with watches you still consider cheap though they weren't to me. And "luxury" just doesn't appeal to me. Some people don't seem to be able to believe that. Like EVERYONE would and should want such things and it's only a matter of money. But I really just have a different barometer for that kind of thing. Fancy watches and cars and other things just don't turn me on like they do others. Like Bill Gates and his Casio. I need more than a Casio, but really everything I want is in the price neighborhood I shop in. I'd admit if it were different. I spend $300 on original art this week. One painting. That's not a lot for a painting. Art is more important to me than watches. I've spend over $500 on a painting. I've also spent $450 on a car. Everyone has their own priorities and tastes. It's not often that I spend hundreds of dollars at a time on things. I'm just really into watch collecting and making up for lost time. As I've said before, I've been down some self-destructive paths over the years and this is a very safe vice for me to have. I used to throw this kind of money around on booze and drugs and have nothing to show for it. Nothing good at least. I've earned my shopping spree and it's slowing down. Sure my tastes will evolve. I'm onto microbrands and vintage now too. But I just don't see Rolex on the horizon. I think stuff like Hemingway's 34mm Rolex or Sir Edmund Hilary's Smiths are cool. But I don't want a fucking Submariner.
>>
>>18645825
>I think stuff like Hemingway's 34mm Rolex or Sir Edmund Hilary's Smiths are cool. But I don't want a fucking Submariner.
I get that. A 34mm Rolex is my daily driver. The Ref 6694 "Oysterdate Precision". You can pick them up for 2-3k (2k if you accept an aftermarket bracelet, 3k for all original). That's basically what I mean, the steel finishing and craftsmanship is just not even approached by microbrands or aliexpress watches.
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>18645858
well sure but they cost way more than Rolex too. You can get a used nice rolex around 2-3k. New rolex tend to start 7-10k. Yes there's like all gold super fancy models that are like 80-90k, but Rolex isn't really going into that tier too often. Most people have the 10k or less models

No. There's one button. I'm surprised it can do as much as it does. And why, does it take too long? Maybe a different brand of them doesn't do that. I like it.
It displays seconds too if you push the button a couple of times. It seems like you can switch it to 24 hour time but I can't get it to work. I refuse to complain in any way about something that's $2 and tells time.
>>
>>
>>18646421
>And why, does it take too long?
Yes, I would not say this is a great watch for actually telling time, unfortunately. The best watches you can glance down at while someone is talking to you without seeming distracted
>>
>>18646436
Well you'd still have to press the button anyway. The half second 'on' animation is the least of your worries. Don't buy the $2 paper watch then.
It is not a great watch for furtively and inconspicuously actually telling time if you don't have a finger and 1 second to wait.

File: WDdivers.jpg (451.9 KB)

Help me decide. I want to get a diver for around $80-$120. Probably quartz. Someone here convinced me the bubble bezel might be one of the coolest parts of these. I also would like a flatter one of a different style. These are mostly Watchdives. Each one seems like some sort of little compromise. But I'm going to try and sleep on it and take my time. There's a $13 off coupon sitewide good until the 7th. I try never to pay full price.
>>
File: divers2.png (1.1 MB)
1.1 MB PNG
And I guess I'm back looking at Thorns. Too many divers to choose from. I forgot that's what most watches are. As long as it's 40mm or under I'll consider it. Looking at autos now. Cadisen has some real contenders with NH35s. Especially that black and red with bubble bezel. And Vostok has a really cool one but no listing of the case diameter. The Pagani is a GMT even. It has to have a rotating bezel though. The Seestern is among my favorites and the most expensive at $141 before discount. But I'm not going to buy it tonight. I'm going to actually not buy any watch until the coupon is near its deadline. That's a nice boundary and it means I can relax and know I've got 3 days to shop and make an informed decision. I'll probably also use that as justification to buy a $300 watch because I held off so long. But I hope not.
>>
File: sees.png (822.9 KB)
822.9 KB PNG
This really may be the one. Some colors are selling out. The ceramic bezel adds $12 but in this case it really makes the look. Check out the one with just a steel bezel. Looks like a totally different watch. This one has the sapphire, the hacking movement, it looks AMAZING, it's 40mm which although I'm liking 36-38mm more and more, I think divers should be a little bigger and they look kind of weird at 38. But I can't get away with 42mm really. I know especially with divers that limits me a lot. But I'm not that into them and really only need one.

Kind of not loving that case and lug style. Too big, takes away from the bezel too much. The Thorn and the Cadisen on the bottom of >>18646467 and the Watchdives like top left of >>18646451 are really the best lugs IMO. I think the watch should be more round than anything. All that oyster and cushion stuff bugs me. But those big divers that have no lugs and then slim straps look silly also. Too far in the other direction. Like this ridiculous thing in my pic, lol.

Yeah, I think this is the one. Not a lot more money but it's a San Martin and it's a diver and it's got a Seiko movement and it's 39mm and people seem to love it. I don't need a bubble bezel. I can get a $70 quartz diver with one if I decide I do.

Just saw this watch and loved it and bought it for $75. Then I saw another store offering it for $51 and got all pissed and cancelled it and then I found another cool coupon and I got the fucker for $44!! I wasn't going to get another watch but I got an email that my refund for the Monaco homage came through so I had $87 in credit to spend.
I think this Militado is gorgeous and I love the compact size of it. Super great night of purchases. I got some other straps and some paints and art stuff too.
Can't wait to get it, set it, and try it on. But the San Martin is the true score. I've since seen a few review videos of it and I'm glad I got it and at the price I did.
I'm happy it turns out these are a lot of the brands on OP's list there. Glad to have the opportunity to show them first hand as they arrive. There's a cool Steeldive that should be here any day now too.

Hey! The '$' goes IN FRONT of the number.
Are you doing this on purpose? Are you trying to change the system we have in place?? Sorry, you're going to need to conform to the rules. From now on do it right. $20 = 'twenty dollars'.
I know that's confusing for you kids who've never held a pencil or balanced a checkbook or can even write in cursive. You have seen words on your phone but never heard them pronounced. You've heard words pronounced but never seen them printed. It's all so confusing!
But that's the way it is. Now that you have officially been made aware, I don't expect to have to educate you again on how to type out money figures.
That goes for anyone else who happens to see this post.

Sometimes the strap makes all the difference. Didn't like this because the bracelet it came with was always too loose or tight.
This came on my Sku and it's really nice. Lighter brown would look better.
Still feels a little big on my 6.5" wrist, but it doesnt look as bad as it does in photos. I'm going to try some of my natos too. But I have a way better tank on the way from Jomashop. This will probably go back in the box until I give it away.

Changed my mind on the Armi. I think these are all improvements. Watches I wouldn't otherwise wear. Discovering I really just don't like bracelets much. Except on the Militado Murph.
