I wear them nearly everyday too. I have high insteps and bony heels that are really blister-prone and suffered with regular shoes for 30+ years before somebody talked me into trying western boots. I hated square toes at first but they grew on me and now they're mostly what I wear.

The ankle area is tight so your feet don’t slip. With good pairs you have to really break them in or stretch them out with a boot stretcher but even then they can be hard to get in and out of.

Cowboys worked with boots for close to 200 years without "roper" square toes. The only ones doing that were faggots running around a rodeo, you know, not fucking work. And dairy workers are usually in gumboots. Square toe western boots have recently had a big boom in the last 10 years by equestrian folk with small hobby farms and rodeo buckle bunnies.
