>Who is /fat/ for?
For compulsive cocoa consumers who are working towards a longer life and a better physique through meaningful hard-work, strategy, and dedication. This is not QTDDTOT, stick to questions on fat loss. Post height and weight when asking for advice.
Join our Fatty Contest: https://www.fattycontest.com/
>What do I do first?
1. Read https://physiqonomics.com/fat-loss/
2. Calculate your Body Fat Percentage: https://fitness.bizcalcs.com/Calculator.asp?Calc=Body-Fat-Navy
3. Calculate your TDEE: https://www.sailrabbit.com/bmr/
Remember to use bodyfat% and use Katch-McArdle Formula with sedentary settings or your TDEE will be too high.
4. Plan your weight loss: https://www.losertown.org/eats/cal.php
5. Track your nutrition with MyFitnessPal (better for packaged food), Cronometer (better for generic food/macros), LoseIt (great for both), or Waistline (FOSS).
>Now what?
Count calories, all of them.
Eat about 500-1000 less calories than your TDEE.
Buy scales, be accurate.
Learn to cook. Try to stick to lean protein and green vegetables.
Eat a lot of protein. 0.72g per pound of goal lean body mass.
Doing cardio, even just walking, will improve your health. There is no such thing as a healthy fat heart, but you can offset the risks.
Lifting weights will keep and gain muscle mass and lose fat much quicker. No lifting results in the body eating away muscle AND fat.
Drink more water.
Read the /fit/ sticky: https://liamrosen.com/fitness.html
>DON'T
Eat refined sugars, they're terrible for you regardless of calories.
Eat processed foods.
Drink your calories (alcohol, soda, Starbucks).
Freak out over a weight loss stall. Plateaus can last up to three weeks.
"Reward" yourself. Cheat days cheat only yourself.

depends on your height, current weight, activity level etc etc. but generally speaking 1700kcal is about the lowest you can normally go without getting into health issues from eating too little / destroying your sex homones

I'm eating these delicious puddings from lidl and it feels too good to be true. They're very filling, and 11g of protein per 100kcal, which is one package. Which seems high for a pudding. Also they taste delicious, with creamy topping, like something I would eat in my Class 2 obese days (I've lost 20kg since then).
Either the label is false (which it shouldn't be right?) or this is a great cheatcode to lose weight. I now easily hit my calorie targets and dont feel hungry.

one of the best things you can do for regulating your circadian rhythm is going outside during dawn and dusk. i know that sounds hard, but tell yourself you can go back to sleep after. its such a powerful effect that going back to sleep wont fuck up your progress. let me know how it goes.
circadian rhythm is important and affects adiposity and gains. treat it as sacred.

do you guys find that if you eat steak the scale goes up? I'm counting calories and always stay within my budget, but I bought a whole big bunch of beef and butchered it myself and now i have a ton of steak and each time i eat one i notice my weight goes up. Is it the salt or something? I'm not adding any extra but i noticed this more than 2 times so its not coincidence and i am sure im counting calories correctly

I weigh myself every day too, even though it makes people here absolutely fume, for the same reason. It's fine you just need to take fluctuations into account even if they're seemingly irregular. Go week by week, like fattycontest, and you'll be gold. Good luck!

Have been eating good all week but browsing /ck/ is always my downfall. I saw some ad for a new sausage flavored with dr pepper. I'm a sucker for new foods and it hit me at just the right time when I was hungry and going to the store anyways. Bought a box of kraft mac to go with it.
The real disappointment was it didn't even taste good. It smelled great, I was super hyped until I took the first bite. I can't really accurately describe it but it was just a very artificial off putting sweetness. I like sweet breakfast sausages but this was far beyond that. Thankfully that off putting taste kept me from eating the whole thing. Don't get tricked by the advertisers and only get what you plan ahead of time. It's hardly ever worth it.

I'd estimate that just like any other statistic that paints blacks in a bad light, the data is intentionally skewed.
For example, they claim the average black iq in America is 85, but any and everyone who has ever dealt with them knows that it is surely significantly lower than that.

I went from 190 to 150lbs in a 3 month span between October and January on 1300-1500 calories a day. Since then, I’ve been maintaining weight. Starting a few weeks ago, I noticed considerably more hair shedding in the shower, like 40-50 strands at most total just shampooing my hair. I got scared I was balding from creatine so I stopped taking it for now but it’s still happening 2 weeks later, and I just read that there’s something called Telogen effluvium that can happen after weight loss
>it typically causes diffused thinning and shedding, usually appearing 3–6 months after the trigger event. Hair usually regrows on its own within 6–9 months without intervention
anyone have any experience with this months after losing weight? my crown and hairline seem fine so I’m hoping it’s just this and I just need to weather it out.

I haven't gained back all the weight but I did gain back 15 lb of it and it makes me ashamed because I swore that I would not be someone who regained any of it. My body fat percentage itself has not really gone up that dramatically, but I'm really teetering the line at 18% body fat. I don't want to get any bigger. I don't want to be big at all. I will need to lose this weight again. My stupid chubby chaser gf insists that actually I look great like this and she's really happy with 15% but hated 12% so this is great. If she keeps thus shit up I'm DONE I won't tolerate her trying to fatten me up
>>
I reached my target bmi and I've been hovering at the same weight since November last year. I'm super paranoid about gaining it all back but I don't really know what I can do about it except to keep doing what I'm doing

It depends on the duration. You can't really ruin your metabolism, but if you decrease calories too drastically for an extended period of time, you will adapt thermogenically and burn many less calories at rest. This is why people who fast don't ruin their metabolism because you're typically only fasting for a couple days. If going very low calorie doesn't really bother you, then for a few days a week you could eat basically as low as you want and then go back to a normal deficit.

>no lower body lifts (no running does not count)
>dips instead of bench as a fatass
>fucking curls?
Terrible advice. You should be squatting and deadlifting as a fat. You won't magically have jacked legs just because you were fat and lost weight, at best your calves will be nice. You recommending isolations like tricep extensions, lat raises, and curls to out of shape dyels is the biggest waste of time.
>>
>>77207132
>Be fat
>Build muscle in the areas you're fat so you look even bigger
Lose the fat completely then start squatting and deadlifting. Building arms makes you look atleast normal during the process. Being fat with tiny arms is the worst look.
>>
>>77207075
Other fatties. I had my gf before I got giga fat (I was still chubby) and she stayed while I lost the weight. She also gained weight, she's lost the weight and looks good. I think she wants me chubby again so other women don't want me. One fire women LOVE fat/chubbies

50lbs
37 weeks left in 2026
1.35lbs/week
seems very doable to me
>>
>>77207600
>>77207609
losing 50 lbs by the end of the year is ~1.4 pounds per week
that's perfectly achievable and assuming you stick with the gym your deficit probably doesn't need to be that aggressive, and you definitely don't particularly need a fasting day
>>

>>77207616

I could insult you back, but I'm working on my attributes, so I'm not going to do that. Additionally, I know you're trying to improve yourself and you're struggling with eating properly. So I'll just say that I hope that your future is bright and you succeed in your goals. While your body may be primed for protein synthesis directly after a workout, I wouldn't consider it in the context of your post the same as a craving, considering the fact that you're continued to eat. This alone should disprove your claim. In any regard, I didn't mean to stir up any consternation. And I apologize if I came off as rude

Had some unbelievable cravings yesterday, it was so intense I felt it in my bones. I held the line but decided to reduce my cut a bit, 500kcal instead of 800, longevity is more important in this anyway. Also, down to 110kg, a first since 2020 and down from 125kg at my peak in 2023. My brain is fucked and will take a while to adapt but I must believe in myself.
>>
>>
>>77207689
3 day full body is perfectly fine for a beginner. 4 day upper/lower is also a great balance, especially for natties and even more especially on a cut. Any more frequent than that has serious deminishing returns. 6 day ppl splits are a meme if you aren't roiding and don't have your own home gym with a rack and everything.

Chin ups are awesome and I love progressing on them, but they absolutely destroy my forearms. Managed to do 4 strict chin ups without assistance the other day, then did a few sets of assisted chin ups for volume. I can barely fully extend my arms with the soreness. My lats are pretty sore too but you can live with DOMS in your back, when its in your arms, your daily life is cucked

Hi this is probably just stupid but is there anyone who might have pointers for my situation? Context: I can barely walk/cant workout because muscle condition and to treat said condition i have to take corticosteroids which can cause "centralized obesity" and the less weight I have to move around the better.
Questions: I am aiming for 125lbs with just calorie deficit getting like 60g protein/700 cal per day (tdee on the calcs in op said 1480 cal). Does this sound reasonable? Is there anything I may want to change or do in addition to get to 125 and stay there?

Typically it takes about 6 years to get to the role I'm aiming for, and that's usually for people with industry experience. I came into the industry 4 years ago and have been promoted 5 times already.
I've lost almost 95lbs and my confidence is up.

I plan losing the first 20-30lb at a rate of 2lb per week then taper down to 1.5lb/week for another 10-20lb then stay at 1lb/week for as long as possible. Should I worry about "not losing muscle"? I don't think I have much muscle anyway but I'm not sure.
>>
>>77208350
the less muscle you have the more you should care about losing it. like even if you lose a lot of weight, if you have low lean mass, then you're still going to be blobby when you're in the "normal" bmi range. lifting and trying to get a lot of protein while you lose weight will help you a lot.

You CAN look good at 200lbs at that height, something around 18-20% bodyfat, but only if you've lifted for severalyears. Being 12% with defined abs at that weight would require roiding on top of that.
Basically you should start lifting. Like tomorrow.

I think you're fat brained. I really doubt you have that much muscle mass to look that lean, I doubt you have such big thick bones you weigh like 20-30lbs more than a man of the same height. I've seen many fats who look fat claim if they get to a healthy weight they'll actually look underweight, only ONE ever actually did look concerningly thin at BMI 21 and that outlier did have double the lean mass of average and ridiculously thick joints.

This sounds kinda retarded but dog I've been coming home at the end of the day and stopping at 7-11 and buying two microwave burritos and a 0cal drink and eating that.
Both burritos combined are somehow only 1200kcal but they fill me the fuck up like no other and I stay full well into the next day. I've been doing this regularly and at one point I did it for a week straight.
No other food consumed, just a couple 10kcal cans of monster zero bringing my calorie intake to 1230 a day.
Is this just too good to be true or what? I'm not even exaggerating the ability to feel full, like I can go from absolute ravenous to fucking full and still have a couple bites left I gotta push down.
As it doesn't do that bullshit like fast food does where you wake up starving, no brother you wake up feeling less hungry than normal.

just started my 2nd dose for the 2nd week and have lost 2.3 kg so far
I've been drinking milk and making sure my diet is balanced and taking vitamins and walking, but I don't really know how to lift
I wonder if there is some easy lifting routine I can find online which I can follow maybe 2x a week
I'm scared of losing my bone and muscles, so I'd like to do things the right way

lol i lose more than that in 10 days just dieting and I didn't inject myself with a stupid drug that causes pancreatitis and eyesight damage. I'm also far more likely to keep the weight off than jabbies

Just go to the gym and start lifting.
You don't need a specific routine to start with.
Start with light weights, find the movements you like and build from there.
You can literally just look around and see what people are doing.
If there are grey haired guys that look good, you can probably just copy them because it's obviously worked over time.
