You were probably overtraining like 90% of the people in the gym do.
I’ve been getting stronger and feeling better doing nothing except:
2-3 times a week
2x5-8 of one arm dumbell press
2x10-12 goblet squats
2x10-12 hip thrusts with the machine
Light band work for my rear delts
Chinups almost daily with grease the groove style sets
Walking or jumping rope on off days.

i think OP is just extremely unfit. Only time i hear anyone say they feel better when not exercising is when they are fat as shit
