Everything is already from China, but here we discuss the cheap chink shit you see on various sites.
1st rule of /csg/: If it looks too good to be true, it probably is.

Aliexpress Chang said my pi5 Lora radio hats for a homemade Rtk system got lost in the mail (tracking showed it delivered to the other side of the country, whatever it was) and now offered to refund me through messages.
Am I being scammed here? Should I doing a return through the Aliexpress app directly instead?

I’m not going to do something stupid like agree to get a cheque by mail but I mean should I even entertain them at all or just instantly demand a refund through Ali? Can a seller proactively give me one or do I have to do it all?

Why would you do anything OTHER than this?? Like for cereal. Are you afraid of hurting Chang's feelings or something?
You have what appears to be a slam-dunk case for getting a refund because either something fucked up or the seller tried to jew you.
So go and get your money, blackman.

its a switch, you can use it as you please.
some versions, like the one you linked, have an extra little "vlan" switch that allows you to isolate each of the 8p8c ports into their own dmz, meaning that each of the 8p8c ports can only communicate with the sfp ports. but if you leave that little switch in its default state it will function as a normal switch, all the ports, regardless of format, work the same.
have a couple, with and without the switch, capable little units, they dont even heat up that much

Yes they can cancel the order, they don't even have to contact you.
What they probably want is for you to write that it's your fault like you did not like the color or something, to protect their reputation score. And damage yours.

Scamazon seller cancelled my $260 2tb nvme order. Told me he did me a favor because the drive, which was his last, was damaged and gave me 10 amazon shekels. He already restocked and is charging 50% more for the drive. My order was supposed to arrive tomorrow. How long until the chinks kill the juice market with cheap drives and ram?

Few threads back I mentioned a Ugreen 45w charger or an Anker one.
The Ugreen one stopped working within days on my laptop. Got a replacement and the same happened. Went with Anker and it's been working fine.
Pretty bummed about it because I've been on the Ugreen train and have been of the opinion that Anker overcharge and the quality is no different ;_;

I work helldesk for telcos and I really hate trying to find hispanic users. For one they ALWAYS have to pronounce everything with their accent so you can't type it up easily. They are passive instead of karens or lashawndas though which is a huge plus. Never had a mexican or hispanic spaz out like a boomer without his tv or a woman who works from home with no redundant internet or a black woman with zero conceptual understanding of anything besides yell louder. But locating a rodriguez in the first place in a crm database fucking sucks plus they always have a new burner phone number.

i think the original is suxun, or at least its the brand of the tubes i have. the b-7000 tube i have is probably close to 10 years, it still works, and was branded suxun (along with claims that it is the original brand, yeah right...) and do recall looking into this brand debacle before getting the e-8000 tube and decided on the same brand, its fine. but all this was years ago so take that with a grain of salt

i got one of these soddim to dimm ddr4 adapters for our dark times and because i have 24gb spare ddr4
i did not expect it to work at full speed, but it does not work at all and in fact it fucked up my PC.
>does not boot at all
>whatever, remove it
>my second ddr4 stick is now not being detected at all
>remove everything and put it one stick, reboot, then the other
>now it's detected but XMP doesn't work anymore and it won't boot at 3200MHz
i don't know if it damaged the stick or IMC but it was a massive waste of time
>>
>>
>>107996224
it should work, it's really not that complicated and really the only issue is traces length & additional latency to the CPU.
most of the issues described by people is with high-speed DDR5 ram where they need to drop the frequency considerably, with DDR3/DDR4 that should not be a problem in theory.
it's been covered by mainstream tech websites a while ago because of rising memory prices
https://www.techpowerup.com/344404/laptop-sodimm-to-dimm-adapters-gain -traction-as-dram-costs-rise
>>
>>
>>107996276
i was thinking about the actual voltages used. if the xmp settings from one stick are applied to both one of them might fry, and if its a short, it might take the cpu imc with it (desktop profiles normally have higher voltages than laptops, are the nand chips actually different? i dont think so, since its not lpddr, but they those picked for sodimms might only tolerate lower voltages).
the adapters listed on the page you linked seem to have some fuses in them, at least the ddr4 versions, maybe thats some sort of mitigation agains some of that in case the profile the bios picks is not the right one for all sticks

Bought the meme light. It's pretty good but it was a bit below my expectations.
In terms of design I really like it, the swivel head and the movable clip and just how tiny and compact it is. Build quality is alright, the body is mostly nice and metal, but the dial doesn't feel that great and the button has this weird design where the outer ring is elevated and it feels a bit weird to press sometimes.
It's got a nice and bright main light and an rgb light for safety signals and bisexual EDM parties. You can use the wheel to adjust the brightness of the main light and the color of the rgb light, but I was quite disappointed that it doesn't do either one gradually. The main light seems to have 6 brightness levels, plus one more if you double tap the button which is a tiny bit more bright than the brightest setting you can get with the wheel, but turning the wheel makes it tick from one to the next, it's not gradual like a dimmer switch or something. Same with the rgb, a bunch of colors but it doesn't smoothly transition between them.
And then finally it's got a bunch of flashing modes to make you more noticeable if you're walking around at night. Oh and it's got usb-c charging.

it's a gamble not because of quality but warranty
90 days on ali for free returns while buying from eu gives you 2 years warranty. so it depends on how much money you're willing to spend to fix the laptop, and when you're ok with it dying.

Yeah okay. It's a bit much.
Also sad that it's not stepless. There's super cheap current limiting chips that limit power based on a simple 50k resistor, but they never like to use them for whatever reason... Although the cheap ones I have are max ~700mA so thats sad.
Anyway this is the chink light I got, Brightness is a bit worse than olight pro max so that's decent, magnets are good, display work, power bank function works but doesn't charge fast. But it has two problems, first it's a bit big with a lot of wasted space inside, second the turning function is not stiff enough so when pressing the power button it sometimes turns, unless you hold it.
Sadly my chinese gf dropped my "v3" style chink flashlight, I miss it.

Yours looks kinda cheap plasticky. Also maxes out at 300 lumens (apparently) while the little wuben goes up to 400. I dunno I don't buy many flashlights so I don't have a problem shilling out 25 bucks for one provided I get some mileage out of it.

I got a Gulikit ES PRO videogame controller a little while back (pretty happy with it and can share some thoughts on it if anyone has been thinking about getting one), and now I'd like to get a second controller.
I'm looking for:
>4 back paddles
>Good wireless connection
>Asymmetrical
>Compatible with Windows and Linux
>X-Box button layout
>No software outside of the controller required
>Budget of £30-£60.
and I was wondering if anyone had any advice on controllers they've bought or heard about.
I have a couple questions that maybe some knowledgeable anons might be able to answer:
1. Is the difference between TMR and Hall meaningful?
2. I sometimes hear people complain that some back paddles they have aren't fully remappable. What do they mean by that?
3. Is a 2.4G connection going to be stronger than Bluetooth? What are the advantages of it? My current controller uses Bluetooth and the connection drops out if any of my body, like my leg, gets in between the controller and the (admittedly cheap) dongle.
>>
The wednesday weekly credit of $7-10 is insane. It's like they just give you shit for free. Just got a pair of earpad replacement that cost $11 for 2 cents. The week before I got a case for my new ereader for 2 cents as well. This is the best thing ali has done since the soccer gamble event.
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>108008482
1. Hall sticks innately have low central sensitivity which gives them nonlinear output. TMR sticks vary by model, but have the capability to be linear.
2. Many controllers can only remap back buttons to other buttons on the controller. Controllers like Gamesir Cyclone 2 or BigBig Won Rainbow 3 can map them to keyboard+mouse, allowing for completely unique inputs instead of just duplicates. Controllers that expose extra buttons to the system like Rainbow 3, 8Bitdo Ultimate 2, and Dualsense Edge can also have the back buttons freely remapped that way via software like Steam Input.
3. Generally it's a stronger, more stable connection, but dongle quality varies by controller.
>>
>>
>>108005939
Just a bit, the plastic quality is not bad. But the design is poor, it could be around half the size with the same components inside
>Also maxes out at 300 lumens (apparently)
According to what? It's advertised as 800lm, not that I believe that at all. The only light I have that I would believe is the oclip pro @500lm, this chinky light I would have guessed is ~400.
> I don't have a problem shilling out 25 bucks for one provided I get some mileage out of it.
Me neither it seems good, just for my next one I want something brighter like my old v3 styles...
>>108006404
Looks cool but it seems it's also not stepless dimming, the brightness is not even adjusted by the dial, it's 4-level brightness by a button.
> internal 18650
Hmm true, not something I think about really. But that also means it's a lot of wasted space inside it then, sadly.

For video feed yes, you connect to the open hotspot the camera creates and you can record or take pictures from the app (you can also fully control the car), there's an option with a wifi screen, but it seemed redundant. I imagine the video is some UDP stream you could easily get from a different app, but who knows.

If you scroll down to specifications it says 300 lumen, pic related. But funnily enough in pics they do advertise 800 lumens, but I think it's for a different model, one with an aluminum plate on it.

Taobao is like AliExpress on amphetamines. They sell even more stuff and at like 10-50% of the price on AliExpress. Plus it arrives in less than a week.

The reason for using chinkshit is not just it being cheap. I mean, it is, much cheaper than the dollar store, probably similar if you have to pay import fees.
The most important reason is the selection. They have a lot more stuff and they have modern things like powerful lithium USB-C rechargeable flashlights many years before the domestic markets get them. Hell, most stores that sell flashlights in scandinavia STILL don't have any modern lights, just 3xAAA slop.

I know, it's not really among the core competencies of this general, but it's not unheard of that some very specific autism pops up, if you just ask for it nicely, plus, a few months (or was it years?) ago, we had some anon ordering jade sharpening stones and I remember that got a bit of discussion.
:
I'm searching for a dressing or truing stone or stick, i.e. a very large, very coarse grid sharpening stone, to grind my sharpening stones flat. Amazon is flooded with chink shit anyways (no surprises there), and the first non amazon result, from a famous, old, German brand is made in Asia (guess which asian country) anyways (But at least it's legal to carry), so I might as well go straight to the source. I'd assume such a huge, coarse gridded slab can't be that hard to fuck up.

Anyway getting anything but diamond or ceramic sharpening stones is pointless.
For ceramic genuine japanese shapton are cheap enough to not bother. I have 1000 & 220 grit, good enough for anything but super-autistic sharpness which I'm not skilled or patient enough for anyway.
For diamond that cheap sharpal double sided one is better than many so called premium ones.
You don't need really need to level ceramic stones, if you really have to you can use a diamond stone to do it, but basically don't bother they last a lifetime of regular use.

Why the fuck do proper screen protectors for phones not exist anymore?
I don’t need bullshit glass, which cracks if you just look at it funny, I don’t need “hydrogel” (whatever that even is) and I certainly don’t need some bullshit contraption, that certainly will make the result worse, to install said bullshit.
I just want a fucking display foil. Like, basic bitch, mid tier, clear plastic with a camera and sensor cutout, as I bought for all my previous phones in packs of 5 for 7€ or something, and always threw away 4 of them when the phone finally gave up after 5+ years because those covers just work.
Why does this not exist anymore?
Why does everyone insist on stupid, “premium”, glass which is worse in every way?

i have a 10000D hydrogel screen protector, it's just a thin plastic that'll protect your screen from minor scratches and stuff.
they are not as thick as they appear in the promotional images. the style of screen protector you are looking for probably stopped existing when phones started having screens that bent at the corners for the 0 bezel look.
i bought one for my phone model and it fits it perfectly and feels alright to touch, can't complain. it's really not that different from the flat foil-type you're talking about, they use a slightly softer plastic so that they can wrap around any rounded edges on your screen.

I would suggest going to your closest harbor freight. >Anybody ever had experience buying some woodworking tools from Ali?
yes.
The simple clamps, coming from the top are quite good, plus, you either get them locally only in pro-tier variants, which probably are better (though my festool T-track clamps are also made in Vietnam) but not 10 times as good, if you're a hobbyist.
The side one works, but it's not particularly good and probably will break rather soon.
I've got some sanding papers, they suck, but they can be helpful for some very coarse sanding jobs where you know you'll fuck up the paper because it's such a shit spot, so better paper will not be much better, but I wouldn't bother. I now just buy good stuff in bulk, so I can always just use a good paper, that's at the end of its usable life anyways.
And most stuff is rather heavy, so shipping adds to the cost (and free shipping is always just calculated into the price) making local about equals in most cases.
But as said:
There's some bargains to be had.
