Context: Americans STILL use SMS/MMS to communicate. SMS/MMS have huge limitations: they have a very low character limit and on top of that if you type an emoji or a special character (basically anything other than '?' or '.') the character counts as multiple characters so the character limit is reached quicker, images/video are very slow to deliver and they arrive with a 144p quality, etc.
