why are people so ok with windows having 2009 linux problems? in some cases updates are making it so windows wont boot in 2026 how does anyone find this acceptable? some people paid 200 plus dollars for this OS and now its having boot up issues? its a sad day when the "professional" option is less stable than arch linux what the fuck is going on? get it the fuck together Microsoft

I get that it sucks when it happens to you, but it hasn't happened to me or to anyone in my family who I'd need to handle tech support for in a long, long time, probably over a decade.
Meanwhile whenever I do a major version upgrade on my headless Debian server, things break. They've even pushed out major kernel bugs that broke virtualization on my system twice in recent years, over routine updates. Grass isn't greener on this side.

I have been seeing a lot of folks online bitching about windows lately. The issues they describe seem so foreign to me. How difficult is it to just install the iot version of W10 and leave it alone for the next few years. I did that as soon as the 2021 version came out and have not had a single issue since on either one of my computers

Same tbqh. I think /g/ has ran the tech gauntlet to the point where the most complex distro is a cakewalk to them but basic stuff on Windows/Mac suddenly becomes challenging as they haven't had to deal with benign issues.
>>
>>108049007
Odds are, if you're not retarded and you use "supported" hardware, you won't have any issues with 10 or 11.
The only thing that broke in 11 in comparison to 10 for me was lending internet to another PC via ethernet, for whatever reason the net connection sharing menu wouldn't close and I had to restart the PC to fix it. But eventually it went away, so I'm guessing the bug reports I sent were of some use.

Lol Windows is officially an AIDS operating system.

>why are people so ok with windows having 2009 linux problems
What is the alternative? Use actual Linux? Most normal people don't even know that it exists. And if they know they would never install it because it is different. People will continue to use Windows until they can't buy it anymore, which is unlikely.
Most people just likes to complain all day about windows, but they don't want to do anything about it. I have only used Linux for 5 years now. But it took me, as someone who is who is interested in computers about 5 years to actually trying Linux on my main computer and get out of the complaining phase. Most people who think that Linux might be a good alternative will never switch, and will complain about windows till the day they die.
>>
>>108049406
Linux is an alternative if your PC can't run Windows. Otherwise there's very little to no reason to switch unless you're paranoid about the telemetry nothingburger that exists on any site you enter anyway.
>>
>>
>>108049447
If you don't have a reason to switch, don't. I meant people who know exactly why they hate windows, but not even try linux even though they know that it might work better for them.
Telemetry is one thing among many that is bad with windows.
The main other one is that you have to fight your computer to configure it the way you like it, then continue the fight to keep it that after each update.
Examples of this is the spyware search bar sending and logging ever keypress to microsoft.
You cant change the desktop environment, if you don't like the built in one.
Adware automatically installing from the windows store (candy crush).
Automatically install unwanted programs (skydrive client, demo versions of ms office, after my time copilot client)
Moving around system controls every other update, by removing functionality from the control panel and implementing a worse one in the settings program.
Unavoidable updates that slows down your system while you are trying to work on other things.
Annoys me by wanting me to login into an online microsoft account.
Displays a warning that won't go away if I disable automatic file sending defender. Which basically just sends random files to microsoft from anywhere on my computer.

Nobody pays $200 for windows. It comes preinstalled on pretty much every PC and OEMS pay practically nothing for a license. Most hobbyists use piracy, key sites or oem licenses. Haven't met a sucker who paid full retail for a windows license yet.

Are we still trying to do this meme of windows being more problematic to use than linux in the big 2026? How many times are we gonna have to teach you the same lesson old man? Linux is a dead-end as a desktop OS. It'll never be relevant or competitive. Your bubble of the same 5 ecelebs and subreddits you circlejerk in will never represent reality. You lost.

>why are people so ok with windows having 2009 linux problems?
because for as shit as it's become, the option still boils down to using linux (and dealing with linux problems) or windows (and dealing with linux-tier problems but with much better software compatibility)
>>
>>108048017
2 reasons
1:
>turn pc on
>do work
>turn pc off
2:
>turn pc on
>play games and have fun
>turn pc off
Nobody cares man, move on with your life.
>its a sad day when the "professional" option is less stable than arch linux
This is just false btw, stop basing your opinion on what youtubers and /g/ say, those headlines in AI written news just put anything 2/3 people write on the internet as a headline.
Again, nobody cares, move on with your life.

jfc stop spewing bullshit. I just spend an hour fighting and restarting fedora to get it installed in a second partition. People joke about KDE krashing, but I've had 2 crashes already in the past hour. Just now my browser also crashed. wtf. My windows partition was up and running way faster and has way less problems fuck you

I literally had to reinstall Windows 11 at least once on my VM. I couldn't even install 11 from 10 on my VM and it kept rolling back.
It's insane how bad it really is. Outside of wage, I don't deal with Windows Server so don't know how bad it is. The only fuck you with it is mostly self-inflicted by incompetent IT and their shitty GPOs setting ridiculously bad or limited TLS Cipher suites and malware like Tanium, Forcepoint, ClownStrike, etc. Sadly Linux machines are usually much, much worse in this regard though.

why are so many retards installing KDE spins of distros? I don't fucking get it. I argued with some retard who was booty blasted by KDE krashing and I told him to stop being a bitch and install GNOME.
GNOME literally JUST WORKS. I've been using it since 2015 and have seen every flavor of hell in it and it has objectively improved so much it's unreal.
>>
>>108048017
still running windows 10 iot, but yeah , people computers are having those issues, apparently microsoft just doesn't care anymore because that's not what's bringing the money anymore, they probably do want for software developers to stop developing for windows exclusively so they can throw away their legacy supporting spaghetti coded OS and just start making a Loonix distribution themselves instead.

Microsoft really needs to stop letting 3rd parties fuck up windows updates too. My mom's new Dell desktop literally couldn't update to 24H whatever because Dell didn't ship some firmware blobs and windows update just threw shitty unreadable 32bit error codes with zero context. Debugged it as "missing files."
it got fixed eventually, but I wouldn't be surprised if 99% of the pain for wincucks is imposed by shitty OEM garbage.

If you use Windows you support pedophilia. Uninstall that pedo OS shit ASAP
>>
>>108052427
correct. you are.
if you use:
Ubuntu
non-GNOME anything else
you get what you deserve. I've told this to people as far back as 2018. I laugh at Ubuntards who had bugs that were 2+ years old while also being full of broke ass packages and confusing out-of-tree kernel drivers.
get fucked retard.
>>
>>108052438
nah, it's happening across brands its the latest updates, windows forcing things to be encrypted, AI shit everywhere and shit like that, why would you want to update anyway if those updates are the source of winblows being screwed up? your mom's computer pretty much repaired itself and you complained.
>>
>>108052464
updates not applying seems pretty bad though. just makes M$ look bad and sadly with how cursed computing is, if you aren't up 2 date, god only knows how many gaping holes you have. the M$ updates usually ship "malware removal" shit too so it's a good thing to have boomers updoot.
>>
>>108052451
but what if I don't like gnome? Is cinnamon the only option? I don't want to use outdated repositories or technologies with mint.
Still, before the year of the linux desktop can finally commence, I shouldn't run into shit like this. At least I'm willing to put up with the bugs and crashes, and able to troubleshoot. But 99% of people aren't. And while I agree with linuxfags that their platform in principle is superior, the fact of the matter is that it's practically really not. Just switch to linux bro is way easier said than done.
