What does /g/ think of Ladybird Browser?
It's a completely new browser engine, not based on Firefox or Chromium.

I am more interested in Servo as an alternative engine/browser.

stupid name

The engine isn't the problem, even if it technically passes all the web tests in theory there are too many user agent whitelists that only allow Chrome. Presto (Opera) and EdgeHTML already died to this and they had big companies backing it.

You just know Google will make it hard to play YouTube on Ladybird.

hope you enjoy getting broken/slow as shit websites, chromium is an industry standard for a reason

I wonder if they are going to be able to use DRM and you can watch Netflix on it. GNOMEs browser for example will never be able to do this.
if they want this browser to be big they need DRM stuff.

This doesn't have much to do with privacy as you can achieve that with Firefox and even Chromium. For most /g/ anons it's probably about hating Google/Mozilla, and secondarily interest in new tech.

Chrome is unironically a worse name than Firefox.

I lost hope a long time ago, so i'll say that nothing will change and the project will be self-sabotaged by the open source community like every other open source project
>>
>>108049029
the dev is too based to let that happen
>>
>>108049029
Yeah, this is it's biggest potential issue. The biggest potential issue of any open source project - trannies, and bleeding heart leftoid sois, as well as corpo saboteurs.

That said, I have hope. Fuck gnuslop and fuck google.

chromium is only the standard because of corporate monopolization and it should be attacked readily at any opportunity.

Just like anything else made by americunt, it's gonna get acquired by the big tech and turn to shit.

I always read "Ladybird" in his voice.
>>
>>108048149
I took a look at the Ladybird source code and it's fairly clean. It's incomplete but it already blows all of the other niche alternative browsers out of the water. In the future, I'd like to implement, perhaps in a patchset, "the goyim know mode" that limits functionality to what is needed for 4chan type sites. I'd also like to have a custom HTTP header manager where access keys can be registered per site to avoid captchas. With that we can establish a goyweb.

I'd like to do this in a way where at browser startup you enter a passphrase which decrypts a HTTP custom header file, which is in memory only, so just closing the browser when done werks for basic at rest security.

it's poorly worded. it can be translated to mean he endorses replacement theory in that whitey should be replaced, or that he endorses replacement theory in that he believes it's an actual thing that people are trying to implement.

ladybird comes from 'our lady's (the virgin mary) birds'. something to do with mary being portray in a red cloak during the medieval period or something.

cool idea since Firefox is trash and Chrome is just google adware

Why so defensive? It's not a big deal if you are ESL.

at this point in my life, i'm not swapping browsers.

we're in an era where things have been established enough that wasting my time on a new product isn't worth it for me. the last jump I made was from Netscape Navigator to firefox.

I've tried and used before: iexplore, edge, netscape navigator, firefox, konquerer, gargle cum, vivaldi, brave, opera.

I can safely say firefox best fits my use case and I have no plans on changing to chromium slop. If brave used gecko I'd consider a swap to brave, but it's unlikely. You have no privacy on your system anyway, backdoors are added at the hardware level before you ever get your pieces.
>>
>>108053157
i dont see the mission statement. it may mean that the objective is determined by the contributing party, by those who donate to the project.

>>108053217

Coding a browser is not hard. Steve fucking Jobs did it years ago back when OS X was relatively new, in MINUTES, using Xcode.

Yes Steve knew how to write Objective-C.
>>
>>108054662
He dragged a KHTML object into an empty window? Yeah I did the same in visual basic with IE6. Amazing work.
>>
>>108054662
Source?
>>
>>108054669
Nah he picked and placed some other stuff but... that's what that AI did too. My point is it's not impressive to hook up a web engine to a UI given the tools we've had for twenty plus years.

I can't find that video right now but there's another one of him demoing NextStep and he writes a database admin GUI front end in a few minutes. He writes some Objective C but yeah it's mainly using the NS class library. He didn't use millions of BTU of energy and thousands of gallons of water to do it either.

AI isn't doing shit that wasn't done 30+ years ago in minutes by a virtual nocoder.

>>108054721
Here's the DBM video. I can't find the browser one but it was at a WWDC back in like, 2004-2007 or thereabouts. I was doing some Mac OS development back then and I remember seeing it.

my favorite thing about "white replacement conspiracy theory" is that noone actually disagrees on the basic facts. the only real difference is whether one thinks its a good thing or not.
