This is the least original thought put to text but I can not restrain myself anymore. I dual boot windows just for the occasional video gaym. It's essentially vanilla windows on a 2yo lenovo laptop. The amount of bugs that spur out of the most mundane thing is insane. Today I hovered my mouse on a button, thus showing the little popup that says what it does. Instead of left clicking, I right clicked and it permanently hung the entire desktop environment (when hovering over the little popup text, the cursor icon turned into an hourglass symbol). I tried playing a video on their player and the controls just disappeared after a while. You want to open a... a what? An "mkv file"? What the hell is that? The file explorer takes 1-2 seconds to show a directory and when scrolling it hangs for 1 second before hitting top/bottom. Did one of their mongoloid retard devs just toss a while loop in there or what? There are like 20 different UI styles. There is SCREEN TEARING ON THE FUCKING RIGHT CLICK CONTEXT MENU. These are just nitpicks, it goes without saying that bluetooth doesn't work (works on linux) and fans are always trying to extinguish a fire when doing basic shit. Is this real life, what the actual fuck is happening? It feels like visiting a vibecoded website, where you feel like things are not quite right.

I encounter all of these bugs on my work computer it's become so bad I installed Windows server 2022(still based on win 10) to avoid all the shit. On windows 11 the file explorer has become an obstacle. Opening too many folders to quickly causes file explorer to crash and hang, and all the actions you do each have to be sent up to Microsoft's servers for tracking and telemetry. Thats why a right click on anything has a loading time now. I miss windows 7, but now for my personal PC I just use cachyos.

Yea, YT is full of people making listings how shit the Windows updates and changes were recently.

You're lucky that you're already not stuck on Windows.

I've been thinking of dual booting windows just to use graphic design software like coreldraw and you've just reminded me why I shouldn't do it. Thanks anon

could probably still run it from a vm if wine or comparable doesn't work

My computer is too shit to run the stuff I want reliably under a VM honestly. Wine can run affinity stuff, but it has some issues.
I'm thinking of getting a new GPU and using my current one just for VMs, that could work better
There might be a way to make this stuff run better under a VM with my current hardware, but I'm retarded

Seriously, I use Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC and the damn file explorerer is STILL ass.
I don't understand how this operating system is so shit that I click to open a folder on my computer and it nearly crashes the entire thing and takes 5-10 seconds to open (after Not Responding first of course).
I'm switching to Linux this week, I cant take this anymore.
I already have Linux on every computer I own except for my main one, and it seems like a much better experience overall.

win10 doesn't work with modern hardware very well, intentionally
if youre running it on a 2 year old lenovo laptop youre probably outside the compatibility range. especially if its intel. your options are linux or 11.

i pinned edge to the task bar and the icon turned into a generic empty file icon some weeks ago. forced ai adoption is pushing out developers that had standards. in a way its forcing developers to align with business goals: quality is not important. you take longer to make something good? fired, new standard is 10 minutes per ticket until pr

i see the writing on the wall, but i'm stuck in these walls. i hope customers will demand quality, but they are used to accepting whatever is put in front of them, they have no choice

If it was shit under the hood it did a damn good job hiding it because it looked cohesive, planned out and beautiful, and also ran perfectly fine. No OS has felt as good. Linux runs fine and can be riced if you're autistic but it never hits the same, it always feels shallow underneath.

I’m curious. How difficult would it be to make modern processors compatible with Windows XP? Seems like XP on today hardware would be peak of peak.
>>
>>108050846
The only thing Windows has going for it is vast software library and excellent backwards compatibility.

I've never seen two cursors at the same time in Linux, I have in Windows 10.
There are still a bunch of retarded bugs related to switching keyboard layouts or using a language other than English during installation.

Not difficult at all. You can run anything from Windows 3.1, 9x, XP, etc.
Problem is drivers. Good fucking luck getting your gpu to work. No, internal gpu won't work either. Enjoy your 640x480 16 colors.

This is the struggle. The problem is that objectively, using linux is a desktop role is asking for trouble since all commercial software is worse or broken, games are okay but often worse. So, on paper, it seems like there is no reason to use it.
But realistically most stuff I do works fine on Linux and it's rare that I need to do something that doesn't. While I have to interact with a file explorer and right click function constantly. So its a choice between serious but rare pain and a thousand tiny cuts.

iot ltsc bros...I used to have Windows 11 and Windows 10 just plain sucks. The file explorer is so slow and it takes forever to open up a single video with VLC. For context, this computer also had Fedora and Linux Mint, so I never had this issue with VLC.
>>
>>108054945
I will say that it only takes forever to open up the first video, maybe its because of the path for VLC. I installed it via scoop, not the .exe.

Windows 11 doesn't have an hourglass symbol kid. Ask Chat GPT to write you a better story next time.

Truth nuke. 7 was shit like every other version. It just didn't crash as often.
>>
>>108050846
Windows has literally always been worse than Mac OS, and 2000 was the only version that wasn't liquid dogshit. This isn't new.
>>
>>108050846
Update issues aside (I've never had them personally), you kind of have to be a retard to have this amount of issues on Windows. Linux I would understand as you need to know what you're doing.
The bluetooth not working is really weird too, but I'm guessing you didn't have a driver installed.

OSX is turbo mogged by Win XP alone. Mac just has good looking hardware, that's it.
