Why is Reaper still so relatively unknown? 02/03/26(Tue)22:35:01 No.108053738 >does almost everything others can
>cheap to buy and no subscription faggotry
>incredibly powerful scripting possibilities
>FULL theming and customization support (can make it behave like the DAW you've been using and even slap animus on the menus)

02/03/26(Tue)22:38:07 No.108053774 my guess is that most get filtered by it still looking very W95-esque
>but you can customize it
they get filtered right away before attempting anything

Yeah as long as your tool werks there's no reason to switch.
I got interested in Reaper since I like testing new workflows and like how efficient it is. Entire thing is a 15mb download and takes up like 150MB on the HDD kek

Never tried it. In theory, I could easily switch from ardour if there was some reason to.

I don't think it's unknown. It's just that its target are a certain type of independent engineers and producers. Corporate slaves are forced to use Logic and normgroids are brainwashed by e-celebs into using Ableton. Reaper is for people who would rather have a bit more freedom and control over their sound at the expense of more time invested.

I'm on an older version still but I can see why how the midi programming implementation and ReaSamplomatic would turn people off.

I really want to make Reaper my number one, but Ableton Live's rack concept is just too good and convenient to pass up.

When I started it was the DAW that looked the most attractive to me (no bullshit, just functionality) and I stuck with it ever since.
Haven't gotten around to using it since switching from windows to linux though, as I'll need to rebuild my plugin library (a mishmash of random free vsts).
Any ideas for making a fully self contained portable reaper + plugins installation? Maybe containerized with distrobox or something? Or would that fuck with the audio path?

We use it at the uni I go to, for both classes and for audio work. I like it, but it doesn't have the polish that other DAWs have and normies can't stand that.
