And other question, which search engine do you think is the most secure and private, Startpage or Searx?

What shit do I care? It's not my native language. Besides, stop focusing on stupid things and answer me, Buddy.
>>
>>108054996
It's fine for first time users. But a little too bloated for my taste.

>Zorin OS
Why are the jeets shilling this new no name distro so much?
>>
>>108055287
Except it's not. new users would have a far better experience in both the short term and long term using just ubuntu alone lmao
>>
>>108054996
easy to use but if you want to have more control try to install and probe Debian on a VM. Good luck and welcome to GNU/Linux.
>>
>>108055276
Is there a website that can “analyze” which search engine is the most secure and private of ALL? For example, for browsers, Mullvad and Librewolf are the best, but I don't know about search engines.
>>
>>108054996
Nothing wrong with it, its a beginner friendly distro, but still the same mighty Linux. I think it ships brave as default browser now? Just use the brave search. Its a decent daily driver browser for consuming content, reading, browsing etc. but get Zen or Librewolf for your private stuff (important logins for example). Don't limit yourself to 1 browser.

I wear whatever I want, you clown.
And since you're an intellectual dwarf, when you don't like something, you call everyone poo-pajeet, because you're all turbo autistic on this channel. Obviously it's full of those idiots, but relax your ass.
>>
>>108055306
I have uninstalled everything unnecessary (I only have 14 applications), and one of them is the browser, which is Librewolf and Mullvad. In short, I have set it up to be as minimalist as possible, and obviously I use things to make everything more private.
>>
>>108055325
Anyway, I use the computer for the bare essentials. And obviously I don't use Windows stuff, or Google, or anything else. I use minimalism, but I want it to be secure and reasonably private. But obviously, the more, the better.
>>
>>108055392
Well there are certainly levels, it depends on your wants / needs.

If you don't want everything you type to immediately be handed off to a thousand advertisers, then stay away from Google, Bing, DuckDuckGo and the like. As long as you're not searching anything that would make your government too mad, you'll probably be fine.

If you want serious privacy, then there are hidden services for StartPage, DDG and some Searx instances too. Which I'd recommend in Tor Browser, with scripts disabled.

I found an HP 15-BS212WM craptop in an eviction hovel. erased and installed Elementary 8.1 last week. NOT the distro for me. the inability to put icons on my desktop was wasted real-estate. Next I installed Zorin Core. tried it for 24 hrs, then decided to switch to Zorin Lite.

im using a mechanical 500GB HDD, 4GB RAM with a dual core Celeron N4000 1.10GHz.

boot time on elementary & zorin core were nearly identical at 1min28sec to login screen. total time to full desktop & function 1min52sec combined.

boot time Zorin Lite: 26sec to HP logo, 1min17sec to login screen, total time to desktop and full function 1min 31sec.

my other two craptops (all 3 were eviction finds) run MInt XFCE.

15-FD0083WM: 30 seconds to login screen, 33 seconds total to operational desktop after Password. other one is a Stream 11. its similar boot time.

I just started Linux last year. maybe used them 100 times total since. i use my phone for 97% of my daily stuff. wife has a MacBook pro 14" M3. im just not a daily computer user.

I like the look of the Zorin Lite, but I think Mint XFCE is my choice for support. Zorin *LITE* loses support in 2030ish.

It's good, but not perfect. It was stuck without feature updates for almost 4 years. Until 3-4 months ago it was still using Ubuntu 22 as a base. So it's only okay if you're on older hardware and you only use flatpak for your apps.
>>
>>108054996
It’s fine. I would recommend Ubuntu over it, but I hope you’re satisfied with Zorin regardless.

why would you drop a spyware for another one?

You're thinking of Deepin Linux
>>
>>108057627
Yes, I'm satisface. Better than Windows, absolutely yes.
>>
>>108054996
Never used it
>>108055181
What the fuck are these? Just use librewolf or ungoogled chromium.

linux mint and ubuntu are too boring for zoomers coming over to linux for the first time, so they've got to find niche beginner distros to shill like zorin and bazzite
>>
>>108057916
Good to hear!
>>
>>108054996
My retired boomer friend mentioned Zorin as a distro he wants to try (has only ever used mint) and that's why I won't be trying it.
>>
>>108054996
I moved to Zorin about a month ago, fed up with Windows.
It's nice. Tried Mint and Ubuntu in the past, but they Mint seemed archaic and Ubuntu bloated. And both Mint and Ubuntu were straight up ugly.

Zorin is clean, intuitive and does everything I want from it. Maybe I will move to something more advanced in a few years when I get around understanding linux better, but as it is it's a great replacement for W10/11.
>>
>>108054996
WAAAAAAAAY better than Linux Mint
the sooner linuxsisters realize this and stop recommending that ugly trash looking desktop (Cinnamon and Mate) the better for the linux user growth
i use Manjaro but Zorin is really cool
>>
>>108054996
Happy for you, anon.
It doesn't matter what anyone thinks of your distro as long as
>you like it
>it allows you to do what you need/want

Remember, /g/ is like 90% gay nerds whose hobby IS Linux. They don't install Linux to have a computer, they install Linux to fuck with Linux, switch distros, argue about their distros, and argue about minutiae like Wayland, and systemd or whatever. For many of them it's their entire personality.

>>108058487
Good post.

>>108058487
g men are women?
>>
>>108058557
Yes, but instead of purses, make up brands, and shoes, they bicker about choosing which Linux is the best, which init system is best (something no one gave any level of shit about until ~4 weeks ago), which DE is best, showing off their gay desktop rice, their terminal fetches... All to do... NOTHING. It's like those "influencers" on social media showing off the 30 purses or whatever they bought - you think they're every going to use them?

>Woah bro, SICK window manager!
And the person is just going to sit on that retarded POS browsing /g/ and linux related reddits all day arguing about it, trying to convince themselves they've made the right choice. Rather than just know/understand what they actually like, they project their opinions into the public square for external validation (like women), because they're incapable of just forming their own opinion and being content with it.
