First I bought k240 studio, one cup stopped transmitting sound after a year
Then I bought HAYLOU S35 ANC, battery started dying after a year, as well as one cup getting quieter than the other one.
Is there ANYTHING that will actually last me for more than a year at that price point?
This is about headphones btw.

Finally got around to fixing my cat6 cable with these toolless plugs.
It was hell, took literally an hour each side. This thing fools you into thinking you only need a pair of scissors and pliers, but the random one you likely have lying around would absolutely SUCK for this application.
The whole thing was just fiddly as hell. The cap keeps flapping about getting in the way while I was trying to align the cable.
tldr just get an actual crimper, completely pointless fucking product

as promised my chink KTC H27T27 27" 1440p 100hz monitor arrived today. in short everything works fine, no dead pixels so far, some stuff i noticed
>24" to 27" really isn't that noticeable
>freesync makes a huge difference - gameplay feels smoother when it was choppy on my 1080p monitor due to weak GPU
>colors look fine out of the box, i have no qualms about it and no desire to tweak it by myself
>stand is shit but it's not an issue for me
>i do not have enough desk space for this shit
a bit disappointed because a lot of reviews mentioned 120hz overclock mode, which is missing in my unit (mine doesn't have "KTC" written on it, just their new logo). i think some older revisions had a bug (feature) or a better panel, i tried overclocking it, but it shits itself even at 101hz. i have another very old 144hz tn monitor, so it's a downgrade in that aspect, but i don't play vidya anymore so i'll probably keep using this.
i got it for €69 (under $80 in freedom dollars), so it's an alright buy i guess? anything comparable locally would be twice as expensive and considering i was looking for another monitor for work i think it's worth it. if you feel getting something a little bit better there are 210hz 1440p monitors (with a better stand) from KTC, but they are also $140 or more

Just the Dualsense for all of that criteria.
>motion controls and touchpad
There's a cheap OEM model that's essentially an Xbox Series sized DS4 with two back buttons with a bunch of different rebrands (Fantech Nova Pro, IINE Bastet, some others I forget). $30 normally, I used to see them as cheap as $12 with coins but haven't in awhile. Sticks and buttons feel cheap but it's pretty packed for the price. Also has an audio jack, not sure if mic is supported. Don't remember if I ever used its gyro.
Touchpads in general are rare on chink controllers and most of the ones that do have one just consider it a mouse.

Hi /csg/
I'm looking to buy a chinesium mini pc, and I've been lurking many brands (mostly Beelink, Geekom, GMKtec, and Minisforum).
Fucking around I found out it seems Geekom is the one marketing itself the most on "long-termism," [1] like they wannabe ThinkPads of chink mini PCs brands. Even they made a video supposedly torturing one in the usual China fashion [2].
Is this legit or am I being bamboozled? Outside their dubious marketing, I've seen good comments regarding the construction and 3-year warranty (ok, probably poitless), and bad critics regarding their components choices that missed QA (like buggy Realtek wifi cards they shipped onsome units). Onions?

Saw this torch at Costco, it's 40 AUD, wondering if it's good? I want to go to the caves on Friday and might be good to have a torch, only thing I don't like is how huge it is. Can you normally get 7000 lumens in a smaller package?
>>
>>
>>108490320
MOAR LUMENS has diminishing returns after a few hundred unless you have a really specific need. There are other factors, but basically quadruple lumens to get double the brightness you see.
>Can you normally get 7000 lumens in a smaller package
Consider that your average overhead LED shop light is somewhere around 5000. The rating on the box is probably just a lie. It's not too hard to get 1000 out of a light with a single 18650 though. How long it can maintain the output before getting too hot and lowering it is usually the question.
The lights in your picture are essentially a typical cheap convex lens zoomie flashlight, only bigger. It'll have a uniform round flood that can be focused into a smaller round spot.
If you want a flashlight right now that you can buy in a store it's probably okay, but you could probably get something much nicer for the same or less online. I don't know what other kind of retail stuff you guys have out there to say if there's something better you could pick up in person.
>>
>>108490320
Don't need anything super bright for a cave. Your regular 200lm torch will be fine for seeing your way around and not blinding you. A wider field spread would probably be ideal but that would likely be bulky.

Australian and a big retailer means the 7000 lumens would likely be accurate.

>Australian and a big retailer means the 7000 lumens would likely be accurate.
It's really easy to game that sort of thing. FL1 only requires full output for the first 30 seconds on fresh batteries after which it can drop to 10% of that for the rest of the runtime.
I'm not saying it isn't bright. The rechargeable also seems to be pretty beefy. It's just that IRL it's probably significantly less than the label MOST of the time. Which is fine because you'd probably want it on the lower settings most of the time anyway.
And going back to my note on lumens, 7000 is only twice as bright as 1750, which is twice as bright as ~440, etc.

Disappointing sale, lads. I still decided to treat myself and splurged on a Ayabado/Ziyoulang K68 mechanical keyboard. It was €30, but I ain't no poorfag. What convinced me in the end and made me pull the trigger on the kb was the free shipping, promising to have the item at my door within three weeks. While the wait is on the longer side because of the Easter craze, I assume, most wares I order from AliExpress arrive in my European country within two weeks. Most recently I ordered a projector screen and it came within a week all the way from China.
Pic related is the color scheme I went for. The most popular one seems to be with creamy alpha keys and grey pgdn, pgup, etc. keys. That was my first reaction too, to go for that one. It speaks to our present day sensibilities and aesthetic preferences. However, when one looks at pictures of old terminal, one will see that they most frequently have a color scheme where the alpha keys are darker than the control and function keys. So that is why I decided to get pic related. It comes with Red switches. No idea how they are but red is a cool color.

using this as we speak. bought it for $16.50 as an introductory price a few years back and i've seen it go as high as $25-30 in superdeals.
nice and compact, very portable. lasts for-fucking-ever on 2 AAA batteries and has tri-mode connection. i swapped out the red switches for outemu blues, considering some outemu creamy switches this sale. will only need 70 of them. can also change out the keycaps so for sub-20 this thing is godly value.
old discussion about them is in the archives, just search for "tranny keyboard"
>>
>>
>>
>>108500204
How are outemu switches nowadays? I've had keyboard with outemu blues and browns that end up "double clicking" in a month or so. I'm quite curious about the creamy switches since they're cheap as hell in my country. Current switch I'm using right now are huano yellows.
>>
>>
>>108500399
my first mech keyboard back in 2019 used outemu browns. loads of key chatter (double typing) which was usually fixed for good with some small sprays of electrical lube into the switch.
these blues i bought a few moths ago are SO much better about it. there's some chatter here and there but nothing some lube can't fix. i'd say the chatter rate is 10-20x less. that's just the price of doing business with the cheapest switches though.
i would pay a little more for better keys if you care about this

Thanks for the input. All the mech keyboards with outemu switches I've tried suffer the same fate within a month or so of usage. I've since used a hotswap keyboard and tried gateron milky yellow, leobog gray shaft, kailh box whites, and the huano yellows. I've used each of them for about 6 months up to a year+ and I haven't noticed key chatter. It's probably there but it's not as bad as old outemus. Currently maining the huano yellows but I got curious about the creamy outemus.

Got a gamesir nova lite 2. My first wireless controller, only got it because you could also buy a dock for it (not pictured because I can't be bothered to disconnect it).
Comes with a hard case that also accommodates the dongle, which is very nice.
The controls feel nice, my only worry is that the d-pad seems to require very light pressure to trigger, but it hasn't been a problem so far. The bumpers and triggers are dualshock style and you can lock the triggers so they become more like buttons. Takes a few presses before they shift to hair trigger mode though. Also I can't update the firmware from my PC since I'm running linux, but I can connect it to my phone and do it from the app.
Overall very happy with it.
>>
>>108508027
Apparently PCs last longer if you have them always on, compared to turning it on and off everyday. Maybe it's true for minipcs too.
So far, of these 4 brands, I'll put Beelink and Geekom tied at the top. They seem to be the ones most serious on overall quality and longer support.
Second I'll put GMKtec, since I've read comments praising them for the soldering quality in ther mobos, and they manufacture mobos for other lower-tier brands (if I'm not wrong)
I'll put Minisforum on third place, they seem to be focused on trying new things (like the MS-R1). It's like they want to position themselves as the "innovative" brand, but I've read many bad critics about their quality and QA process.
I think you can safely ignore the other chinese brands. And don't forget that outside China there is ASUS, AsRock, Gigabyte, etc, also doing minipcs. The AsRock Industrial sub-brand is for, well, industry, so they are made sturdy, but I've seen they're harder to find, at least from my shithole (Argentina).

Anyone here know anything about buying wigs on AliExpress?
I've been looking at wigs for a cosplay costume, and it looks like they're all made in China and then just resold with the suggestion that maybe the seller made it but it's never really said explicitly.
(It's not for anything trans related by the way. It's for an actual XX-chromosome wielding woman, not me.)
If anyone knows how to gauge the quality of them, what I need to know about sizing and materials, which companies make better wigs, I'd appreciate info on any of that. Doesn't necessarily have to be from Ali. Not looking at human hair wigs right now either, because they idea of that is weird to the woman it's for.

i have something similar, the hard drives in them are super loud because these things lack shock mounting so they vibrate the hell out of the plastic case and the noise gets amplified.
i'd only use them for temporary file transfers between different devices.

Something to think about is buyer/seller agreements, you're not just buying the item, you're paying to get an item within x days. If the seller is unable to get the order to you in that time, you don't have to feel bad about a refund, as that's also part of your agreement and their promise to you.

Sweden. The packages that are small enough for a mailbox are delivered home while larger ones are delivered to a pick up point.
It is marked as "return to sender" but I also doubt that it will be actually returned. It is not an expensive item.

I'm trying to buy a specific trackpad for my autismpad and the few offers on aliexpress are either shady or too expensive. Meanwhile google searches send me to alibaba which seems to have a minimum purchase amount of 20

A lot of countries do this. When I lived in the UK most of my parcels would get delivered to a local convenience store. I don't remember if they charged to pick them up, it was a very plastered two years of my life. Only letters would be well slid through the well, letterbox.

doesn't matter what kind of drive, all hard drives shake and when they're in a hollow plastic enclosure it's going to rattle.
you could probably mod them with something to dampen the vibrations if you cared i guess.

any recs on bluetooth + wireless units with an antenna that work on linux, Cachy OS to be specific? I've always like the ones with an antenna, seems like they handle being away from the router a lot better.
At the moment I'm using one for wifi, and a separate one for bluetooth.

I'm working with a very janky system with only a few usb ports and trying to consolidate as much as possible. Most of the units I find are one or the other, not both unless it's the tiny dongles that I don't trust to maintain a reliable connection over wifi.

It's a bc-250, basically a PS5 with down syndrome and autism. Down syndrome because the silicon is slightly cut down, autism because linux.
Besides the fans and the mining blade itself I had everything already laying around.
I've read somewhere that there is now a reliable way to get linux onto a ps5, so a used one would probably be a much better solution than what I'm doing.
>>
>>
>>108540738
>>108540861
What a sad sack of shit, why?
>way to get linux onto a ps5, so a used one would probably be a much better solution than what I'm doing
Probably not, those never have full combability before.
Anyway, wifi is a cope technology. People that care about speed and reliability run a wire. So you'll never get a good solution. But for your case, just use the best western brand wifi dongle and put the bluetooth on a hub.
>>
>>
>>
>>
BC-250 is a interesting board since they speculate it was for crypto mining, but the specs don't match it at all. It doesn't make sense to use such a weak GPU with 16GB for mining, and have such a relatively powerful CPU. Maybe you could say they run monero mining on the CPU and then whatever coin you still run on GPU and not ASIC on the GPU but by the time this is released, crypto hype is pretty dead too. Even if they could get the APU for scrap pricing, lower bins for consoles it doesn't seem likely to give a return by spending on the GDDR + custom PCB + inefficiency.
I think it's more likely from some cloud gaming/desktop project. Didnt microsoft and sony offer cloud game streaming like stadia? That's the only kind of use for this kind of board...
>>
>>108542648
>What a sad sack of shit
It's actually quite decent. 300w, about a 1660ti levels of performance maybe more. Haven't tried many games, but so far everything runs 60-120 at 1080p maxed out.
>why
why not? It's sub $200, and I get to have my steam library in a nice compact device.
Hence the ps5-linux solution, you get a little bit more than this and it's all already nicely packaged.

I've had a few things printed (mousepads, keyrings, mugs) and they've all turned out really well and I've been thinking of getting some posters done too. One thing I've noticed is that most listings are actually canvas but I'm used to paper so I'll have to do some research. Some listings are also limited to 3pcs per order so watch out for that if you need more. I was personally wanting to get around 20-30 for myself. I've heard about people getting custom rugs or pillow cases and the prints being blurry or faded or having messed up colors. It sounds pretty hard to mess up a poster so I wouldn't worry about it unless you have really specific needs. Most printed items will have a specified size so have your image in that exact aspect. Don't leave cropping to other people because you're just giving other people a chance to fuck it up. It's probably less common now but you never know.

Be aware that they might chink you on the ssd. The Kamrui mini PC I got came with an SSD that has very little cache so any decent sized write overruns the cache and makes it slow to such a crawl that Linux freaks out and remounts root as read-only. (happens by default if your nvme drive stops talking to the PC for 30 seconds) Said SSD also doesn't support sleep properly and will shit the bed on wake unless you completely disable it from being turned off while the rest of the PC sleeps. So unless you have a spare SSD to swap in, keep that in mind.
>>
>>108545931
Notice how I said brand. Not western made or something like that.
>>108546075

>>108489167
I went with a middle of the road cpu in a housing that the manufacturer also shipped higher end ones in, leading to a better thermal solution for cooler running silicon.
I added my own ssd and ram, and I wanted an external power supply as it would make the entire thing smaller and should that fail it's just a matter of feeding it whatever voltage at whatever amperage rather than having to find a niche supply to fit inside the enclosure.

>>
>>108546593
Unless you're talking some wacko DIY project or mini speakers, probably not worth it.
The value solution for speakers is to buy used hi-fi equipment on your local craigslist/fb marketplace equivalent.
It'll btfo anything remotely in the same price class.
The advantage that chinese audio equipment has in price will be diminished by the size a speaker needs to work.
>>
>>
>>108547512
You're welcome anon.
The one exception is if you want recording equipment. While used is often also great there, they retain their value better over time (a bit like camera lenses). You can often beat the value of those by buying a cheap chinese microphone (e.g. a sm58 clone) and a genuine capsule from a western brand (not a sm58 though) , then solder that in, for some pretty amazing sounding mic for cheap.

Wait for an american to answer, but from my EU understanding, the yanks did it the same as the europeans, e.g. they handle it on their end, so you just see it as slightly higher prices across the board.
At least for the "shipped by aliexpress" items (which dollar express and choice and such all count as)
>>
>>108547534
prices barely shifted for most of the items i've bought/looked at.
they ship it to their own warehouse in america, bundle all your items into one bag, and then offload it to random courier companies to deliver them.
the price you see is the price you pay, all the customs shit is handled by them. the tariffs were basically loopholed by them and we aren't even paying the price for it as consumers.
>>
>>
>>108547695
that's the same way the large big box stores did it when they introduced a 10% sales tax - tax exemptions, importing large containers so the costs get spread out and ordering in large enough quantities to skip de minimis

Got some tools to fix my old stratocaster clone electric guitar after a decade and a half in storage
- Fritz ruler that starts at 0
- depth gauge for string height
- Some new springs for the tremolo bridge
- A strap for the guitar
All very cheap, all adequate quality, no complaints.
Also a nato strap for my watch, had a cheap leather one before and it created too much dead skin gunk under it plus irritation. Hoping this will work better. It's okay, but not amazing for the price (3€).

>What is your best chink stuff that you bought?
I don't have a single, bestest thing, but I've got a few things that have proven their worth over the years. In no particular order:
>woodworking clamps for my work bench dog holes
hard to get locally and it appears you're either going pro-grade or get the same chink shit at a huge markup, so direct source it is.
>sofirn flashlight
amazing little thing
>various EDC pouches
will EDC as a concept/fashion is cringe, it really helps to have some dedicated pouches to keep various tools and stuff I need on the daily from banging against each othe rin my backpach (e.g. the aforementionend flashlight, or the next one)
>nextool multitool
not as good as my leatherman skeletool, but for some basic >need to grab shit-jobs it works and it's less expensive to loose when working above an open well
>various not-Legos
nice way to get single pieces the vacuum cleaner ate or to get some variety into the big box of legos for the kids. And if we're looking at legit manufacturers like Cada, MouldKing and such, quality is even better than lego (price too, of course)
>dentist tools
wouldn't trust them for dental work, but nice to have for odd jobs around the workshop
>skimpy swimsuits
amoresy, leohex and aesco are fantastic quality and look better on the wife than anything I can get locally. Plus the pprice is right.

That's actually a hard one.
>Most valuable for memories
Naturehike Cloud Up 2 tent. It's what got me into hiking, which is an activity I do by myself, but also with my father once a year as a sort of tradition. We don't talk as much anymore since living further apart, so hikes are 3-5 days where we talk and reconnect. It's the closest I've felt to him and I'm sure will make up some of the most cherished memories once he is gone.
Runner up: Chink fishing rod, for the same reason. I mostly go fishing with him when visiting home, and it's where we get to have deeper talks.
>Most useful
Probably the cheap 117 in 1 bitset I got on bundles. It's my go-to tool for most times, because it has all the bits I could ever need. Not good for high torque, but the once in a blue moon I need that I get the proper screwdrivers out.
Alternatively the mechanical calipers. They are so convenient to use to measure whatever you want. Even if you don't want the mechanical ones, do yourself a favor and at least get the cheap 1.5€ ones made of plastic. Especially for 3D printing, but I use them all the time
>Most used
Probably a tie between: Backpack I got ages ago that is my daily backpack and still looks good, keyboard (keychron C2), or mouse (VXE R1 Pro Max)
>Honorable mentions
- Kitchen knives: A Shibazi F208 and a generic VG10 steel knife are both amazing
- Soldering station: - Before I had a TS100 and it has fixed so many things over the years
- 3D printer: Bambulab A1 mini (Not on ali, but still chinkshit. Replaced a Ender 3 I got when the craze started. Many projects made over the years on both)
- A bunch of zigbee lights that make my room cozy
- Naturehike sleeping bag

Bike stuff is great. Got a carbon fibre handlebar, gear shifters, hydraulic disck brakes and they've all been great.
Watch straps (rubber, NATO or eleastic) are all great and much cheaper than specialist websites. Also watches in general have been great.
Fake Mont Blanc pens are nice. I buy genuine refills so they write like the real thing. I think most listings have been removed now though sadly.
T shirts are generally fine and cheap. I even bought a blazer/suit jacket I wore to my wedding... It was unique and fits great (I'm white but shortish and slim so asian fit works best for me.)
fake LEgo is good. I like the Loz sets of little cafes - I have four of them now.
I bought a slingshot and a archery bow and both are great and cheap as chips.
