>Best fucking console UI of all time
The best console UI is booting immediately into the game you put in the disc tray.
>everyone and even their grandmas knew how to use this thing.
Instructions to play a game on a Wii:
>power on Wii
>wait for boot
>skip safety screen
>insert disc now or wait for console to register previously inserted disc
>point cursor to first block after seeing the game you inserted pop up, and click on it
>click play game
Six steps including shakily navigating to the game you want to play versus instantly playing the game.
I actually agree with you on the user friendly interface of the Wii and I am still quite fond of it. Nintendo stopped being fun after Iwata died and Reggie left. But it’s really just extra steps to launching the game. Mii creator is cool. Weather channel and other random shit, who cares?*
The problem is the new consoles with even more unnecessary shit and “social” features to poorly replace phased out couch multiplayer. And to stimulate game and console sales. Of course the Wii looks simple and charming.
*People who used a Wii in its era did not care. Weirdos on the internet nostalgic for Nintendo content now care.

This and the 360 blades were peak UI for consoles with online features. Everything you needed. The if the ps3 ui and features had the party chat and more robust online experience of the 360 it would have made the best console of all time.
