I was a Nintendo kid growing up, so I didn't play Final Fantasy VII until I was 20.

There were gachas I tried because I wanted to see what the characters that I was seeing around were like in context. I don't tend to get into R34 of characters that I'm not familiar with, so I get familiar.

I gave it up though, because gacha games often have awful gameplay and it's intentionally difficult to collect characters. Popular 3D games with gacha pulling are not immune to this issue, and have become one of the most popular ways for companies to try to seize your wallet by creating systems to crank out characters meant to be popular and making very appealing advertisements for them.

I watched Princess Lover because I liked how the princess looked in the hentai. It turned out to be a really great anime and the hentai adaptation does not do the characters justice, especially the MC, but that's what happens when you turn him until an eyeless generic self insert.

I didn't watch Gurren Lagann because of rule 34, I watched it because of When I'm Bored.

Whenever I get hooked on an artist's r34 I tend to look at their other works and if it's amazing but for another r34 then I would likely browse that IP for artist discovery.
