Tolkien has been the heaviest swinger literary swinger for Christianity and, through his work, have solved so many modern quandaries with religion that his viewpoint should be taken into far more account.
>physical and spiritual resistance to evil is a major act of loyalty to God
>Evil choices and effects can be made but can not logically contradict the Source from which they preceded
>Eucatastrophe
>a race descending from an epic past of spiritual battle that has now embedded its dire situation into physical reality
>Love, pity, and mercy are the most OP powers in the universe
>Rational religious behavior is negentropic and defies the natural law of the universe
I could go on and on. Tolkien may be the first author to have written a true Christian epic and it is coincidentally one of the best pieces of literary work, ever. These are not new Christian ideas but they have not been explored and delivered in this way

Tolkein literally has two annually published academic journals devoted entirely to the study of his work, I imagine it's been discussed in depth somewhere, the christian influences are fairly well known

The Silmarillion offers an interesting answer to the
>if God so stronk how come babies die of cancer
The very nature of the Earth we live in has been marred to its core by Morgoth/Satan/Timat/whatever. The free will exercised by every person before you, for better or worse, also has an effect on you, whether you like it or not.

Because most people don't realize that it is Tolkien and his interdisciplinary approach to writing fiction that synonymized those ideas with Christianity in a way that they remain culturally pervasive even today. A lot of these ideas can be found in deeper religious discussions and in the Bible, but actually getting people to have those discussions or read the Bible is difficult for many reasons. Funnily enough I think Tolkien would have preferred people reading the Bible and very much would not have wanted these ideas to be seen as flowing from him.
