You can never truly delete them, not easily anyway. The brush tip and textures are still in the materials database. CSP really needs a "cleanup" button that wipes unused textures/tips from the DB.

I've never noticed CSP startup taking any longer after importing hundreds of brushes compared to a fresh install on my system.
Someone correct me if i'm wrong but doesn't CSP only load the last used brush on startup and subsequent ones from your drive onto memory after selecting them? I always assumed the slight lag when selecting new brushes on fresh startup was because of this.

As for cleaning house you should first delete the brushes from your folder then go to Image Material>Brush select all(Shift+Left-Click top to bottom) and press delete and be sure to do it inside of CLIP STUDIO PAINT not CLIP STUDIO or you're not gonna have the prompt that asks you to save in-use materials for brushes and you'll end up deleting everything lol.
It'll be annoying and take a while to search for unused materials and you're gonna have to click "No" a bunch of times if you have a large library(crazy that there isn't a "No to all" option yet).

Nta. I've been hoarding too much and my Celsys folder was around 170gb so been purging backup brush tools in the mats these last few days. It takes about 10 or 15 minutes for CSP to start up, lol. I think I'm down a couple dozen gigs after binning about 10k brush tools but still in the realm of 120gb.
But yeah it's miserable to purge. I'm doing the purging on a backup so I'm wondering if I should just export the brushes I do use regularly and start a fresh Celsys folder.

Not the same anon, but adding that selecting the keyword "Created material" helps showing only downloaded/externally installed textures/tips, in case you don't want to remove default resources.
And something that really helps on the long run is moving out from the folder the tips/textures that are on use and put them together with the brush itself.

Oh, nice, thanks. I'll have to check again via the menu. I put Celsys through windirstat to try and clean it up easily (not very effective due to the obtuse shit organisation) and the recovery files were only ~5gb.

Fwiw I ended up trying a reset default vers of csp with the same bulky 120gb mats folder, and csp loaded super fast. The 10-15min lag must be from too many loaded brush tools, not overall folder size. I'll have to pare down all the shit brushes I imported to try.

it's not because I can navigate with the navigator just fine.
also checked the performance beforehand, 50GB of dedicated WAM, reinstalled gpu drivers, tried running it with my CPU, reinstalled CSP.

just reverted back to version 4.0 and it's buttery smooth again, sucks because I liked some of the 4.2 features.
thanks anyways, was hoping some others had this issue so it might get fixed in future updates, maybe it's just a problem on my end.

actually it came back very quickly in 4.0 so I once again updated to 4.2.
found out the issue, displayCAL color profile somehow became the default color profile on CSP and made everything very buggy, going back to some generic color profile like adobe rgb makes everything buttery smooth again.

Search "Bristle" in clip studio assets and you should be able to get similar results.
Most of the texture in your pic is coming from the paper texture overlay not from the brush itself, i looked up the manga and covers in chapter 33, 46 and 57 are more indicative of the actual brush.

There is a button next to the settings (red in picrel) in tool properties. If you click it you can find a check box to make it pressure sensitive for that setting and adjust the pressure-output curve.
You will want to set it for opacity or brush density.
If you don't see the setting you want to tie pressure to in that window you can find it in the sub tool detail window that opens when you click the wrench icon (green in picrel).

i have made brushes in procreate and CSP, there are few limitations for brush tip settings and texture settings but for rest procreate brush engine is very robust.
I personally love CSP's brush engine more than procreate but that doesn't mean it sucks to use procreate.

Hard round brush name comes from Photoshop.

On CSP get Round mixing brush and disable color mixing. Disabling opacity/size by pressure is up to your taste, usually hard round brush by default only has opacity on, no size dynamics.

Or just get the .abr default brushes from PS imported into CSP (You can use rinotuna's) and problem solved.
