I really like this and don’t have much to say critique wise especially since it so stylized and I only know so mic about color theory. However the nose…well it doesn’t look like a nose. I think you should find a way to balance stylization and anatomy better in that sense, the same way you did with the hands, which look good

I haven't done images in the style of these faction infographic stuff like this>>7854485 for gangs and non major factions of the setting yet, but when I am done with the major factions I intend to depict gangs, commoner militias and what not as well in a similar format. The closest thing to a sort of private contractor type of thing I have drawn are these characters I drew few years ago though these were mostly me trying to design a bunch of characters I could potentially use for telling stories in the setting. The designs of these characters are also up for a bit of a refresh as well as they look a bit off and kind of bad to me these days. I also need to expand the roster to make the merc company concept work better as in this one there are to few combatants.

They all look pretty good but try to switch up the facial expression as well as giving the armor more form as well as shading along those forms instead of just making it all the same value. Since it’s armor doing that can communicate the texture better.
>>

She's got a big ass ugly fuckin SCHNOZ
But other than that, she's just got a lot of shit on her armor that's gonna make it tiring to draw. Try drawing her a bunch and see how it simplifies over time.

Watch LIVE as the artist tries and fails to draw water in two tone.
Got some mixed feelings on this. Really loving the line work, and I think the environmental composition is interesting, but the eyeline is a bit too high and puts too much focus on the background rather than on the central characters. I'm trying to mix art styles here between my more realistic, stark style and something much more cartoony and exaggerated for the angel, but I don't think I delivered on it as well as I wanted to. The posing hiding the foot that's presumably holding the man up on the edge of the peer isn't good either - that's a pretty important part of this pose.
I wonder if the whole thing wouldn't have been better if it was shot from the opposite angle, from the bay looking up at the two. It'd give a dynamic feeling to the angel hovering above the water while the man sits on the edge turned to the viewer with slight disgust, rather than here, where it kind of looks like you just turned over a rock and found a bunch of bugs having a party. I also think, if I were a more experienced artist, I could have handled the shadows on the water better to make it feel more like a body of water, especially near the bottom of the page, but I'm very afraid of spending too long on it, zooming out, and realizing it's way too detailed and is distracting from the focal point of the image some place between the two character's heads.
What does /draw/ think?

I haven't drawn in over 10 years, was never good at it. I booted up Krita again, got my Wacom 4M Intuos out and I'm trying to draw these Doom monsters (Archviles) getting blasted by plasma fire, but I just sit there and I can't make any progress. This is for a megawad title pic. I just don't know what the fuck I'm doing anymore. I can't grayscale, I can't find a point where I say: now I want to color it, it just feels all wrong.

i didn't say that, but i pretty much hold the same sentiment. i basically told myself as long as the thread hit bump limit i would make a new one. if it died before then, it was just a sign that there was no longer an interest in the thread.
for what it's worth i think the art of /alt/ was distinct enough from /draw/ that it warranted its own thread, but with the community being so small now, that distinction is no longer needed
>>
>>7862516
Someone said they were leaving and didnt want to split. I guess it wasnt the OP, but I read it.
As for bump limit, it was at a bad time. We were spammed for a few days with nonsense question threads and loli crap. Either way, Im not complaining, the threads merging isn't a bad thing.

Just an opinion and not a critique (who am I to?).
I think it lacks motion, as in YOUR motion. I don't feel your hand there, I don't feel passion, there's not much life in those strokes, but a lot of fear.
What I see in people I consider masters is both precision AND passion. It is not precision of fear, but precision of confidence in one's own taste and sense.
But again this is just my taste. Maybe you just lack trust and faith in your own?
>>
>>7862479
I'll try to, I find it hard to find references specific enough for what I have in mind so I usually reference just parts.
>>7862495
Thank you for the redline! It's really helpful.
>>7862780
I see, it's a pretty abstract critique but I understand what you mean, I'll try to do more loose stuff. But if I'm more relaxed I can't focus on the rules as much, I guess with practice rules come as intuition.

Nope, I do draw perspective lines though. Two or three is enough but it depends on skill. This practice involved actually slowing down and actually thinking about how it should look before drawing it. Here.
But it's genuinely pointless to come here anymore. So I kinda stopped for awhile. It's disappointing recognizing anons month after month and not a single one of them ever actually improves. It's not even worth venting here anymore because this place is so fucking irony poisoned every interaction is like trying to talk to a retarded dog. I don't think this place is capable of improvement. And you can blame dwindling user counts or AI or the jannies or whateverthefuck, but I think the truth is lot of you guys are just irredeemably repulsive people. The amount of cognitive dissonance required to even entertain the idea of respecting the users here is actually physically tiring.
>>
>>7868335
I don't know why you're acting like you're king shit with this. It's not bad but you're on the same level as anybody else itt. The board is fuckin dead yes, nobody draws anymore, the website seems less active in general. It sucks that every drawthread other than /beg/ is slow as molasses and I don't even care if a few beginners post here, so what? It's more people drawing rather than dooming and shitposting.
Why take your rage out on literally the one general where people draw? It's just so odd. I'm here btw >>7866738
>>
>>7868335
Your negativity and pessimism is so unnecessary. Like are you monitoring specific anons and actively looking at their posts and not seeing them improve? We’re all here to just draw and have valuable discussion and you’re coming into the thread being incredibly critical of people who took time out of their day to draw and post it online. Nobody said this was the DaVinci general and that we’d be posting strictly masterpieces, we’re just here to post drawings. Fix your attitude.

you paint a bleak picture. Yes, /ic/ has had better times but I don't think it's THAT bad.
Sad to hear how you feel about your fellow men. Personally I was always nice to you.
I think your assessment is correct when applied to the /beg/ thread though. There are some genuinely odd people that have made it their home.
It sounds like you're about to leave. I hope you find what you're looking for out there.

I made the original comment, here is my art. I frequented here some years ago and I remember being humbled by the artists that were on here. And people were being sent back to /beg/ if a certain quality was not existent in the stuff they posted in /draw/, this was THE place to get feedback and haul your ass up to get some fucking splendid work done.
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>7868424
That’s fine, but that doesn’t give you a right to come into the thread and be critical of those that are working their hardest to become better. Like the other anon said, it really doesn’t matter if someone is a beg or not. The biggest issue here usually obsession with these levels in art if anything. It’s just a draw thread, and people are posting drawings. No need to be such a puritan about it
>>
>>
>>7868424
It's not concept art den anymore. I notice people get really upset about this fact, apart from any technical proficiency. I'm not sure if that's what triggered you, but people are going to draw their little anime doodles no matter what because this shit is lame.

>“levels” in art,
art is not that subjective
beauty is not that subjective
There ARE levels, there IS objective beauty, this thread is full /beg/ trash and ugly drawings, only difference is some people are just starting to draw and you guys already wasted years and barely improved.
>>
>>
>>7869797
>there ARE levels
Yes, but they’re not treated as sacred the same way /ic/ treats them. Most people look at art in three levels: beginner, int, pro. This mid, high stuff is exclusive to /ic/. Say “mid-high int” anywhere else online and you will be laughed at.
>there IS objective beauty
Of course. But a beginner can create a beautiful drawing and a professional can create an ugly one. So this isn’t saying anything. I also love that you think so highly of your own opinion that only you can be the one to determine what is or isn’t beautiful.
>this thread is full /beg/ trash and ugly drawings
It’s really not, and this would be hilariously ironic if you’re the same person that posted their work in this thread and say this. You’re not even giving in depth explanations of what makes them bad, you’re just saying they’re bad. It’s like walking into a GameStop and saying “all of these games suck.”
>only difference is some people are just starting to draw and you guys already wasted years and barely improved
Here you go again with the incredibly general statements. You have failed to point out specific anons that you’ve apparently been watching very closely since you know how much they’ve been improving, you just keep parroting this same point. And you want people to improve so badly, well I don’t know, maybe stop shitting on their work? Saying negative things to someone is how you get them to STOP drawing, and yet you constantly come into these threads and say negative things, as if your pessimism will be what inspires these individuals to get better. Be the change you want to see.

Mandem wrote a post to defend a shit ton of beg tier trash while shitting on someone who actually made it and is obviously now working in the industry.

NTA but lack of standards invariably creates a low quality place which can be disappointing if the place was originally known for being high quality
Not like this is a new thing anyways, the board has been on a downward trajectory since 2016 and is somehow still reaching lower heights in 2026, shocking really
>>
>>7869815
Where was I defending the beg tier work? By saying that being overly critical isn’t achieving anything? And where was I shitting on them? Where in my post did I insult them or their work? I haven’t said a single negative thing about that person’s work.
Also, quit samefagging.
>>
>>7869818
No, I agree. The presence of standards isn’t the problem, the problem is individuals such as that one who feel as if they are the only ones to dictate that standard. Or even a few people. And there’s also the inability to view art in a way that goes beyond rankings

Uhhh guys the fuck are you all talking about
i like ic because i enjoy letting anons take a shit on my face and chest. This is a wonderful place. If it was in bad taste to shit on other peoples drawings, this wouldnt be the ic i know and love. Let the man say his piece. If his shallow words are enough to make you stop drawing, then maybe ic isnt for you or maybe even drawing in general.
but i like i said before, i never felt like i earned the privilege to post in draw, but now its the only general that is left to post in. My very presence is a sign of the quality bar being lowered. It’s not like anyone regulates these things, but it used to be one of those generals that you felt too beg to post in. But now people have no shame and we make do with what we have.

I've been using /ic/ since 2018. If there's one thing that's constant, it's the cycle of people showing up here, gradually improving over a few years, and then leaving. I remember when artists like Pantsu Ripper and FireZ posted here. They're long gone.
So I guess we're in a bit of a slump right now. A point where good artists have left and the new people haven't improved enough yet. It will get better again, but it'll take time.
Do I fault people for leaving this place? No. Given the overall reputation that 4chan has, you can't expect people who want to get into the mainstream to stay connected here. Especially now that there's a loli drawing general!? (like WTF, how did we let that happen?? That shit alone has caused a huge chunk of artists to run off for good.)
But I also understand why beginners don't want to post in the /beg/ thread. It's become a ridiculous circle-jerk where critique is no longer the focus. Sure, it's great to have all good art in one place but I don't give a shit if there are some less skilled works in between here. Every piece of human-made art is a plus in the era of AI.
Time to shout out some anons who've stuck around during the years. Tableguy, Dareike, that chick who does super flowy figures (mostly posts in the Tower Girls threads), Raxav, the line art binary tool guy with the werewolf OC and Mike MacRae as well as some others. Seeing your works always elicits a smile. We've been in this hole together for a long time and I feel a sense of camaraderie with you. Even if you probably don't know me.
>>
>>7869828
Shitting on other people’s drawings accomplishes nothing. If he’s frustrated that the bar has lowered, there are more productive ways to say that besides “omg why is there beg trash in my precious draw thread.” Saying “I feel that the standard has lowered and that if many of the anons here worked harder to live up to their full potential, this would be a stronger thread” wouldn’t have upset anyone.
Like the other anon said, the people who actually post drawings are who make the thread, not the faggots that sit and criticize others and won’t post work until they’re made to.

Notch never hide it
Egoraptor sort of
Johntron never hide it
Pizza Tower
Snoot Game
Katakawa Shojo
etc
This is a modern problem but of course you wouldn't get it, /beg/ might as well be called /discord/ general.

Negative.nu-fags and leftards are not here to get better or be criticized, they are here to draw the most abhorrent dogshit art possible while sucking each others dick. Wasted text falling on deaf ears.

I don't think dairenke is that old to be "someone who stuck around"
frankly, /alt/ had a considerably higher quality overall than /draw/, and you actually had big names like don, sketchy, ortamaws... hell, even wakkawa is older and arguably bigger despite his insane dunning-kruger and mindworms.

The critique here isn't even good. That went out the window along with the good artists. Why the fuck would I want some retard /beg/ to throw empty insults at me? I don't value him or his opinion, that shit's just needless masochism for masochism's sake.

This isn't just "ur bad gtfo to /beg/ kys >:)", these posts are actually just straight up posts that belong in /beg/. Scribbles, extremely glaring basic fundamental problems, extremely basic beginner questions. Again, that's not being mean. That's not saying that you're bad. That's LITERALLY what /beg/ is for, for working on problems of and relating to fundamental skill and posting your progress on improving them. Even /int/ were herded into there for that purpose and to incentivize people of higher skill level to help beginners. It's primarily a learning/progress thread. This thread is for posting work. A certain floor level of skill level and *completeness and polish* should be expected here. There are posts here that are still pretty /beg/ that are at least fairly complete and polished pieces and they aren't asking "how do I shot web" tier questions with really obvious answers like
>what is wrong with my anatomy (has glaring basic anatomy errors, this is fixed by studying anatomy more)
>why is my drawing so stiff and uncanny (literally just into gesture drawing and practice drawing facial expressions more)
>why is my drawing so flat (can barely into loomis and doesn't understand basic perspective)
>i can draw from reference but my imagination drawings are bad I don't know what to do <:( (just crack open fun with a pencil damn it, fucks sakes)
Again. Nothing wrong with /beg/ questions, I'm not trying to be mean, we were all there at some point, all that happy horseshit. I can't stress enough that I really, really, really hate to be mean and I actually don't want to hurt people's feelings and crush their hopes and dreams especially when they mean well. But there is A THREAD FOR THAT FUCKING UUUUUUSE IT PLEASE AAAAAAAAAAAAH

The thread got derailed because one (1) anon complained about /beg/posting in the general that specifically says not to /beg/post and that made a lot of people mad. I'm not that anon, btw. But I felt I should say something seeing the absurd pushback against daring to suggest there be any form of curation at all.
>>
>>7870460
You are a mad foreverbeg venting and soapboxing because you can't draw or create on a fundamental level, and therefore choose to destroy, and it's hilarious to me. Miserable loser. You will continue to lose while other people get shit done.

It’s the way that it was said, not that they said it. You walk into the thread and act like an obnoxious jerk, you get treated like one. Like I said before, if they felt that the beg posting was an issue, there were more constructive ways to say that without speaking down on other users

No there aren't.
What are you supposed to do? Fix the begs? That doesn't work, that's why 99% of them are begs. You can't fix them, they are incapable of improving. You either tell them to fuck off, or give up on having standards. Oh pretty please mr beg sir, if only you wouldn't have a delusional view of proficiency that would be great and we could all get along and stay in our own threads. That shit doesn't work. They had to turn the beg thread into beg&int because so many of them want to pretend they aren't trash.
>>
>>7870531
Nobody is incapable of improvement. What a stupid thing to say. And yes, there are more constructive ways to tell others that their work does not belong in this thread. Nobody said anything about “fixing” the begs. And like I said before, if you didn’t say nonsense such as others are incapable of improving, you would think that you would be smart enough to see that your criticism isn’t gonna help them get better. But you clearly aren’t.

I looked through your stuff, you have /beg/ soul. People like your art because it seems like a /beg/ is trying his best and that gives you soul. Actually attempting to put out high effort stuff is contrary to what makes people like your work. You are going to have to power through that or embrace a shit scribbles style

there is something weird about her hips but making them even wider was a last thing to try... and it occurred to me that her special area doesnt follow perspective of the room
i drew fingers and later added curls bcs thats an established part of her design. a bit unfortunate but i can move that one hand towards the middle.
ear anatomically incorrect? as in its implied "root" being wrongly placed?

I'm not really a fan of the art or the content but reading it felt like when I used to read the sunday comics. I never particularly enjoyed them but they were just barely interesting enough to read again the next week.
That sounds bad, but I actually think that's a kind of success if you can do it consistently.
One thing that stood out- why isn't Cucumber's hand green? It could be a point of interest to use later, if it wasn't intentional.
