Is he right? Am I wasting my talent? How's this even possible?
How would you respond this?

There's your answer right there, in your own words. If you could pay someone to do the art you want to see... What would you "buy"?
If you want to "earn" money doing art for others, wasting your life making other's ideas and not yours... then you are in a life of cucked delusion and never ending frustration and pain. Now imagine wasting your artistic talent not even for fake paper money, but for virtual "likes"... That's the bottom line right there, looking back at ya

You were so much of a crybaby bitch that you responded like a pussy, took a screenshot, and then came to 4chan to complain about it after hiding your own identity. This shit is pathetic. Next time, try not giving a fuck and saying something like "Thanks for the engagement, it will help me get more likes."

Pencilfags, baka
Everyone knows pens are superior
What do need your little ewaser???
Gonna make some shitty /begbeg/ dumpboy mistakes huh?? Afraid to put your work in POWERFUL and PERMANENT ink?
Your transient scribbles can hardly even be called art, if your gonna buy a pencil you might as well just chew the lead till it kills you and do our eyes all a favour from your 0 confidence ass lines

Normalfags are cattle and only like/dislike something according to how much the majority likes/dislike something.
You should be open for criticism when it's constructive, but that guy is just a faggot.

We don't have the context to say who is right or wrong.
>How's this even possible?
It's possible. I have seen many great artists getting worse after becoming very famous, not because they were regressing, but because they kept doing the same thing over and over in a very formulaic way.

You should post your work so that we know what is going on.
I honestly battle with these two ideas as well. On the one hand I want my art to be liked and my dream is to eventually make a living from it, but on the other hand I started to learn art because I feel that I have my own voice and something unique to say; I don't think that I would be happy doing flavour of the month trend chasing crap.
There are artists who are mercenaries, who illustrate other people's manga, who make advertisements for soulless corporations, and then on the other side there are artists who spend 40 years making art out of random garbage they find on the street with absolutely no recognition and make absolutely no money from it and are only posthumously recognized as an obscure footnote in art history classes. Right now I think I'm going to try to be somewhere between those 2 extremes. I want to make things that are unique and interesting to me, but I am also going to try to take feedback from the market.

Anon, art is your soul, its your calling.
When you will be lowered into your grave.. what will you have left behind?
Art that never came from your soul, art that doesnt mean anything to you…a whole bunch of money which you cannot take with you.
Thats the real waste of talent.
