honestly, just buy a jointed mannequin.
It's barely $8 and would save you all this hassle
>>
>>7866979
Do those actually work for someone out there?
>>
>>7866982
How can it not work?
Just take a picture of the angel you want and trace.

It pretty much changed my life. No more autistically thinking about boxes.

just be warned that it is for perspectives only. you still have to understand anatomy and the physics of fat and muscles
>>
>>7866963
No they don't. they grind irl life drawing.
>>
>>7866979
I don't get it. Surely there's a difference between drawing from life-sized human and a figurine and a giant gundam.
>>
No, it's art-tube shit. Notice these perpetual "teachers" never make anything worth actually looking at, just a bunch of studies and tepid attempts at personal work. God I fucking despise art-tube. You'd think there'd be a few interesting channels but it's 98% clickbait, social media drama, AI whining, and content aimed at begs. I guess art isn't cool without some "hook."
>>
that just looks like practice by an int given the perspective errors. The people who would benefit most from an exercise like this are key animators as they need to know how to draw people from any angle
>>
>>7866963
This is to filter people looking to work in animation. It's pretty basic stuff accounting what animators draw.
the pikat is probably accounting for a future career on animation
>>
>>7867036
Ok but what if I want to be a pro illustrator not necessarily to work in animation? Is this tedious shit worth it or should I do what this anon said >>7867024
And grind figure drawings?
>>
>>7867053
I don't know what you really aim for, for me, that pikat drawing is already solved. It's already in 2D. You just copy it study it, almost no more thinking. Just making your limbs learn how to move your pen.

Figure drawing is you solving the problem of translating the person model in front of you into a 2D representation in your canvas.

Just determine what kind of pro illustrator you want to be. Because for me any artist that is paid to draw is already pro. I don't care about their skill.
>>
>>7867065
Personally I want to be as good as pic related. I also want to be able to draw characters and environments real so I can work on a comic. And I also want to fill my sketchbook with my most fucked up degenerate thoughts so I can showcase the world how depraved I am
Sometimes I have a sex position I want to draw but I'm unable to since I lack the anatomical (human and animal included) and perspective skills necessary
>>
>>7867035
In modern anime? They'd just swap to the 3D model when you're not looking and then swap back out.
>>
>>7867071
>pic
Well what's the sauce, boss?
>>
>>7867113
My eyes just rolled so far back that I saw my ancestors painting on cave walls
>>
>>7866979
the exercises helps, yeah
if you're at a level where you think this is hard and not just annoying to do then maybe you should try doing these in earnest
>>
>>7867118

it's true you know. Pay more attention.
>>
>>7867130
No I'm very aware that many shows use a mix of 3d and 2d, especially studios like Mappa that get swamped with many shows and pays their animators shit wages. What I'm rolling my eyes at is claiming that it happens all the time in general. In high production shows, they have prestigious animators do the sakuga scenes, it's kind of their thing. Even with studios like Mappa. Especially with more dynamic, loose styles like Kanada.
>>
>>7867071
Sometimes less is more.
>>
>>7867071
examining that artist, past work. I think you have to go through everything. What you posted seems to be his warmup sketch.

This was his 2013 sketch work
>>
>>7867071
i'm surprised those retarded weebs didn't sperg out when you posted this.

>>7867515
artist source?
>>
>>7867515
I see but this seems like a painting
>>7867579
He's indian his name is untypable, so I won't bother posting the source

Why would they sperg out?
>>
>>7867686
he has to make 'teaching material' as his job. but did he grind these before he went pro?

Search "Anand RK".
>>
>>7867704
These are all pro level sketches. So, it's not certain he did this to reach pro.
>>
>>7867725
You're absolutely correct. He only drew these images as a psy-op, as part of a deeply rooted, widespread conspiracy to make you think that construction is the way to succeed only to set you up for failure. How he and the rest of the cabal actually got to /pro/ level is a jealously guarded secret, one that they would even go so far as to kill to protect.
>>
>>7867730
that's bullshit, but I believe it. It's like in highschool when you do math in your head instantly and then have to 'show your work' and write out all the steps you were taught but don't actually use.
>>
>>7867730
NTA but I tried Krenz's courses only to be left confused. Like his perspective course jumps from a simple box to then drawing full blown houses. People on Telegram swear by him but then they also say he's confusing, I don't know who is telling the truth. And I don't find copying still images with a grid in his "kindergarten course" a good use of time. Imagine coming home from work, ready to practice art with the limited time you have and you're spending 3 hours meticulously lining a premade picture.
>>
>>7867730
if it's not guarded, where is the full journey from noob to pro? checkmate. king me.
>>
>>7866963
Pikat does and posts whatever funnels the most views to their youtube channel, actually getting gud isn't really a part of the equation
99% of all youtube artists are like this
Posting a video on mannequins or How To Draw A Realistic Eye for the 20th time will get them more views than anything that's actually useful
>>
>>7867737
Sounds like you are talentless and permabeg.
>>
>>7868688
Even a broken clock is right twice a day i guess? the video about comparing sketching to pulling a gacha actually kinda helped me
>>
>>7868688
>Posting a video on mannequins or How To Draw A Realistic Eye for the 20th time will get them more views than anything that's actually useful
This shit drives me crazy. People don't want to hear what it takes to get good, they want "tutorials" and "tips." It's such a bizarre and sometimes lonely realization, I wish I could communicate to these people how fucking stupid most of art-tube is unless you dig deep, but they would most likely be uninterested. Edutainment is what the algorithm pushes, heavy on the entertainment.
Funnily enough Proko is probably the only really big art channel that regularly makes high-value content, because he gets pros on who do demos and talk about their process. Just watching a skilled artist draw will teach you more than another retarded video on "deliberate practice" or "overcoming artblock."
>>
>>7869073
Most people will watch 1, at most 3, videos on the subject before losing interest
Look at any educational playlist on youtube, it can be drawing or 3D or learning an instrument or a language
Videos 1 and 2 will have a decent amount of views and then the numbers fall of a fucking cliff as people give up or forget or put it on their "watch later" list forever
It's sad but it makes sense that the only way to keep getting big views for art education is to keep pandering to the early learners
>>
>>7868688
>>7866963
Can you even mention a single fucking art piece she has finished or something she wants to draw other than boring run of the mill studies and literally herself?
She draws because she wants to be a good illustrator but she doesnt have something to draw.
You think she needs money or fame for her work? She is already set for life earning royalties from RIOT and has an army of permabegs watching her shit and paying her 1000 bucks a pop comms.
She views art as a checklist of skills to have withoutwanting to draw something of her own. A prokolet.
>>
>>7869081
How should someone go about finding their "something to draw" instead of just focusing on getting good?
Asking for a friend
>>
>>7869085
>focusing on getting good?
Go fuck yourself you talented FUCK.
>finding their "something to draw"
Just have a soul. Do you literally have no interests? Anime bitches, gore, mech, scifi, any fav more? A retarded idea you want to make a webcomic of?

What does it take to become good?
>>
>>7867730
I swear Irshad mindbroke /ic/ into believing that constructing with basic forms or considering perspective at all is talmudic voodoo trickery to subvert the goyim into being "permabegs." I guess Vilppu, Bridgeman, Hampton, Loomis, or any other highly respected art teacher are also just full of shit when they tell you that forms, and perspective by extension, are absolute core fundamentals in drawing.
>>
>>7869148
pros have talent and only needed to draw this shit once or twice and apply it when needed to their work. not grind the box men.
>>
>>7869118
discipline and consistent hard work instead of short bursts of productivity spurred on by dubious "motivation"
>>
>>7869118
Sustained interest & curiosity cultivated from a genuine love of the process of drawing, rather than speedrunning what you believe the learning process is in order to get big on social media or make money out from drawing (that comes later, maybe).
I trashed art-tube, but there is one guy who actually isn't a colossal idiot exploiting the algorithm for your attention, and consistently makes points that ring true to me. It's downright eerie to hear him say things out loud I've been saying on /ic/ for years, only more articulately.

I disagree with that. Martial artists and athletes do basic drills and practice to keep their skills sharp and it's no different from the draftsman.
>>
>>7869246
Oh yeah. Zap-daddy's a real one. I really like that guy.
>>
>>7869166
You're not a pro and you don't know any pros so how the fuck would you know, retard?
>>
>>7869256
The pro's I know keep their skills sharp by doing life drawing. don't know any pros grinding cube men to keep skills sharp.
>>
>>7869271
>don't know any pros
All u needed to say bro
>>
>>7866963
It's not about grinding or memorizing a static set of drawings like this. It's about having an approach to drawing that allows you to intuit how your subject should look from any perspective.
This isn't an exercise, it's just proof.

I unsubbed from him because he had a few really obnoxiously pretentious videos in a row
At the end of the day we're just drawing pretty pictures, we're not pushing the frontier of humanity or anything
>>
>>7869461
He's clearly an intelligent guy who believes in what he's doing and understands how fake and rotten mass culture is. People like that find it hard not to come across as pretentious and even acidic, because sincerity feels toxic when your brain has been hijacked by algorithms designed to teach what you like.
>>
>>7869271
Construction is a different fundamental skill than observational drawing.
>>
>>7869246
I unironically disagree with the second video about the following and such because it's easy to say such things when you're popular and cool already but absolutely miserable when your follower count is like 10 people.
Like yea rn I'm close to 2k and I don't think about numbers that much, I also have got a stable art income so I don't need to chase comms that much but beforehand? It was damn bad.
>>
>>7869485
Not a skill you need to grind(alone). You just learn the basic idea and use it in your work, grind your work
>>
>>7869479
I get that and I used to enjoy his videos but lately it felt like he was huffing his own farts about how great artists are and it just wasnt for me anymore
>>
>>7866963
desu this is just what happens when programmers try to learn art
>>
>>7869711
>and use it in your work
How the fuck do you do this?
>>
>>7867071
>good
Even if you've never drawn in your life, you're already better than this excrement you posted!
>>
>>7869922
it's not for all tastes but if you don't see the skill on display there, you might be a nodraw
>>
>>7869865
>How the fuck do you do this?
how do you draw a stick figure? just do that but with other simple shapes(boxes)
>>
>>7867730
I knew it.
