I've been trying to learn how to draw Dragon Ball characters and the eyes are something that I've been having a really hard time with drawing
Like, looking at this picture, it's very clear that Vegeta's eyes (just the eyes by themselves) are cooler and more soulful in the upper picture, but I can't really figure what makes them better looking. Is it the eyebrows being curvier? Or the lines of the eyes being angled?

The eyebrows are slightly more downturned, but theres not a lot of differences in the linewotk itself. The more dramatic lighting it whats doing most of the work making it more soulful

its less the art and more the expression is different. the top is scowling harder. the contrast is higher overall, the face and irises pop more.

also the skin tone is less washed out and flat

whats up with spics and vegeta? unironically

It's not just that they're more angled, it's that other elements in the eye are also further enforcing that angle, and the scornful look veggie boy is giving.
Notice how the lower lines of the eye god past the eye, further wrinkling his face in disapproval, the wrinkles between his brows have been brought further down with the eyebrows, there's the small line on the on the nose and mouth that further exaggerating his scowl.

I think the shadow placements are also important, going from dark to light, from shadow to out of it, feels more heavy and oppressive than the other image's lighting.

Anyway, trying to critique a frame of dbz super feels gay, so I'm stopping here.
