When I'll learn most of the kanji they use I'm going to start bulking on vocab and learn at least 50 words a day
>B-But slow and steady
I've got around 11 months of pseudo-NEETdom, I need to make massive progress in the meanwhile
>B-But retention
I've got a thing called daimoku. I can visualize flawlessly the kanji I learn when I meditate in front of my Gohonzon. If a word doesn't stick in my head I go there and concentrate until it's fixed, it works every time. No one in modern times thought about using meditation to learn Japanese. I'll use Anki for reps since the challenge is letting them stay in my long term memory.
>>
>>218861990
but do you plan on learning 手書き
>>
>>218862205
I won't, not even native japanese people remember how to write all the kanji. If I have to visualization will help a great deal. Btw last sunday I tried memorizing 50 words and it worked since they were easy pronunciations with kanji I already knew, however I did not do reps for that day yet and I'm not sure if my retention is still strong.
>>
>>218862238
There's a looot of 手続きof手書き in Japan
You should practice 手書き if you really come to Japan
>>
>>218862533
>You should practice 手書き if you really come to Japan
Once they are in my mind already I will be able to write them down. I don't worry too much about that because I want to be able to read and talk first. I can take handwriting easily once I get kanji and grammar out of the way.
>>
>>218862238
>>
Not gonna lie, you all can't take "nihongo jouzu desu ne" at face value because it's basically used as an expression of surprise when you made an effort to try using Japanese (because Japanese natives basically don't expect you to use the language).
So, it doesn't matter whether your Japanese is good or bad.

in all honesty, I'd find it hard to resist complimenting people who make an earnest effort to speak my language, especially when it's in well-formed sentences and with an intelligible accent. a lot of people tend to half-ass things and phonology is not taught anywhere, so it really stands out. bonus points for phrasing things like a native would
in fact, I'd feel compelled to ask them why they'd learn taco instead of english, french, or german

Is normal to see actual like mental photographs or drawings when you see a kanji?

Because I am not longer seeing a random bunch of radicals, but I am starting to see like diagrams of mental drawings when I try to remember a new kanji.

I don't have any personal problem with it, I used it occasionally to help me parse sentences and look things up at other sources, but even then it makes mistakes way too often. And that's just the ones I'm capable of detecting, I'm sure it makes more subtle mistakes I don't notice as well. So if you choose to use it you should use it with caution.

It works fine for me, Japanese natives never told me there were any errors.
>So if you choose to use it you should use it with caution.
ChatGPT sucks ass for vocab reviews because it misses some words but it's great for output. I use Gemini for sentence mining since it's got unlimited uploads. Claude seems neat but I haven't used it that much.

Japanese mothers often yell at their kids in the polite language instead of the imperative form when theirs did something bad or unacceptable.
To give an example, when a mother orders her kids to do something, then she often uses しなさい over しろ.
(Grammatically speaking, these two are imperative though)
>しなさい -> し (the continuative form of the verb する) + なさい (the sound change of the imperative form なされ of the verb なさる)
>しろ -> the imperative form of the verb する

Reason 1 is to prevent theirs to use the imperative form in everyday conversation.

Reason 2 is the polite language gives the cold impression and expresses distance from listeners, so they consider it to be effective to make theirs reflect on what theirs did.

Reason 3 is the imperative form sounds masculine and pretty rude, so women don't really want to use it.

Note: what I said above is my personal opinion.

the original word is inflammable. they introduced flammable later to stop nitwits from assuming that "in-" means "not" in that word. the actual meaning of inflammable is "able to become inflamed" (inflamed as in "to catch fire"). the antonym is non-flammable
in the case above, case, "in-" means "cause," or "intensify." do not confuse with other meanings of in-

Even in Japan, you would be seen as cold and strict if you talked to your kids in the polite language every time (unless you're from the upper class).
