why are LATAMs so stubborn about this 02/04/26(Wed)00:32:58 No.218979962 why do LATAMs always die on the hill of the naming convention of "America"? in Spanish and Portuguese to say you are "American" refers to the continent, but in English it means the United States. for some reason every fucking website has some mexican or argie (in english mind you) going "haha NO gringo america is the continent!!! tu es estupido jajajaja!!!" when people say "oh I'm American haha :)" "oh I've never been to America" etc.
What causes this? Can they really not comprehend the naming convention? My personal theory is that they become so immersed in English through the internet from an early age but learn nothing about American culture, so they think it's some kind of arrogance instead of just... the shorthand name we use in English
