Trvke. Especially the krauts; dumb cattle who have outlived their usefulness as janitorial middle-men slaves to the Old Stock mastetrace. The innate German tendency of being a pliable and stupidly inoffensive oaf is just not compatible with advanced civilizations.

this is such a boring conversation to have because people will refuse to acknowledge blood-ties out of political correctness. I always think of my niece: she was born and raised in germany. does anyone in our family consider her german? nope. neither does she. if she had a family with an italian who was born and raised in germany would her offspring be german? probably not.
if a nigerian spanws a niglet in china is that niglet chinese? probably not.
so unless the american in question is gigamutted, he's still ethnically italian

white americans in the U.S south/appalachia are (unfortunately) just british.
the ones in the upper midwest are some weird scandi-pollack-kraut mutt hybrid though, and have all the worst traits of those groups
its kinda funny, americans with italian heritage are actually really rare, they basically only exist in the coastal northeast in any real numbers

I'd say it depends what kind of culture does the 2nd generation embrace. I don't think there is a single Italian looking like this.

>other white American groups aren't like that.
A lot are but they do it different ways.
Either through geographic isolation (Appalachians) or religious isolation (Mormons, Amish) and sometimes linguistic (Acadians, Cajuns)
White America isn't a monolith and there's never been a single "White American" culture or identity.

I've never heard a "German-American" claim such a thing. Usually it's Catholic exclusive, the US is Protestant so they feel like they have to emphasize their original ethnicity. Protestant Americans, however, usually assimilate fast and while they identify with their place of origin they do not hyphenate.

The main reason they aren't acknowledged as "Italians" is because Italy is such a young nation that the little history we have in common throughout the peninsula started just as most Italian-Americans were leaving. Italian-Americans should call themselves Sicilian-Americans and Neapolitan-Americans.

A lot of them do that. If they were based they'd revive Sicilian in their communities but if they do learn an Italian language it's always standard Italian even though none of their family ever spoke that.

And if they were GIGAbased they'd lobby the U.S. government to fake a revolution and bring back the Kingdom of Two Sicilies.

I don't consider my relatives from the US as "italian" as my relatives from canada and argentina, because they are far too americanized and dont speak the language. My relatives from canada speak both standard italian and dialect while my relatives in argentina speak with a spanish accent and their dialect Is mixed since they are half friulano or whatever

>if a nigerian spanws a niglet in china is that niglet chinese? probably not.
The vast majority of /int/ has the wrong idea about China, influenced entirely by their own misconceptions, based on nothing but assumptions. Here's the reality; Chinese civilization started in a small pocket of land between the Yangtze and yellow rivers. In every direction, from the southerners who were hunter gatherers in jungle huts, the northerners who were steppe people living with horses, to Persianized desert dwellers born in raised in the sand. And what did you think happened to these people when the Chinese started expanding in every direction? They became Chinese and their descendants are still living in China to this day, they are the ethnic minorities that comprise 6% of the population. None of these people are what comes to mind when you guys think of Chinese people like Jackie Chan and Bruce Lee, but they're still Chinese; clearly they aren't Han but they're still Chinese.
Your analogy doesn't make sense because hundreds of outside groups, for thousands of years, slowly became Chinese, and will continue to do so for the rest of time. Maybe not Africans because their numbers are so low/their residence in Guangzhou is transient/business related so they don't stay, but to this day, China has a small Russian community that's one of the recognized 55 minority groups. So a Russian who's born in China today would certainly be Chinese/have no issues assimilating into Chinese society. Any other European ethnicity would be welcome to do the same, because that's how it worked for all of time. Any alternate claims made by you idiots are just racist ramblings that you've made up in your minds.

I think it has more to do with passing white. Italians for the most part look Arab so they could never pass as white Americans, hence they developed a strong connecting to being Italian-Americans. Not all Germans were protestants, and you also had ethnicities like Poles or French in the US but I never see mutts claim they're French-American or Polish-American

America has developed its own culture separate from the individual nations that European settlers came from. Those settlers have also intermixed to the point that whatever European ethnicity an American claim it's often entirely their own choice rather than anything to do with their genes. They are Americans with American culture and mixed European descent.
When a MENA brownoid comes to Europe they often adopt a mixed culture of their homeland and their new host country. They don't become European genetically (obviously) and they don't become fully European culturally either. And the more of them we get the less pressure there is for them to adopt their host country's culture because they can stay in their ghettos and mingle mostly with their own kind.
So there is nothing contradicting between your two statements. But if it makes Americans feel better the annoyance a European gets from an American claiming a heritage from a country they know nothing of is a lot smaller than the annoyance we get from muslim criminals that come to our country to rape and steal.
