Doing something new with Merida this year, I'm doing photoshoots for her based around the Celtic pagan wheel of the year. Here's the first one for Imbolc, which is this upcoming Sunday. It's the midpoint between the winter solstice and spring equinox. It's celebrated with the first shoots of new green coming up through the winter, and I thought it would be fun/cute to do these.

I stay in the onahole thread more since I only have one premium doll, a Smartdoll, which though made in Japan is heavily westaboo in aesthetics. The rest of my dolls are silicone minidolls with and without anatomy.
Dollfie/Volks etc and many of the eastern dolls I see especially the custom ones are haute coutoure and quite frankly intimidating to me, like accidentally walking into a Bentley dealership.
Besides off the shelf China clothes, I managed to get some of my dolls to fit into Iplehouse clothes, at least they look presentable but gosh its true 1/3 clothes and props can be more expensive than human ones.
I admire some of the collections here, the clothes and presentations are just wow.

Gem of Doll's Adelise is the 1st one I ordered. Randomly saw some unboxing pics of her while looking into Tinyfox dolls and instantly fell in love. Having seen more owner pics since ordering her I only love her more.
Since I'll probably be keeping her in her own dress for a long time I also wanted a doll to dress up and play with, and then I saw this pair by 2DDoll so I had to grab both...
Only while shopping for clothes for them did I realize how annoying their 1/6 chibi size is. Seeing just how many more and better looking options there are for MDD made me wish I had gotten a larger one instead. Basically I wanted a resin dollfie.
Then I saw her and was convinced.
Since they're not fullsets I'm a bit worried about how they'll turn out, hopefully the unofficial face-ups look good. We'll see in 6 months.

Then on the non-resin side I've also got Tinyfox Reimu and Freyde pre-ordered. Reimu cause Reimu, and Freyde cause I wanted a sister for Meira.

Oh that is a nice one, quite similar indeed. The gap between stock and custom dollfie heads is insane.
I ordered them from Legenddoll which offers face-ups from their own artist. I was able to find some examples but no anime style ones sadly, so it's a bit of a gamble. The twins seem easy enough for anyone remotely competent though.
I suppose worst case I can always have them redone, but I assume they'll be fine.

This so much. The stock dollfies look very basic; the licensed characters despite being expensive do not even adjust the faces enough to look like the characters - even figmas and figuarts look more on-model.

Then third party retailers... you just get essentially a box of parts. Oh, I need to source the wig and some eyeballs. The blank face? Either putty to make narrower eyes, or a dremel to widen the eye holes.

Then theres mini sexdolls which look like a bargain since besides being seamless come with many head/faceup options included in the price. The cheap ones look like bad kigurumi, while the more detailed ones paired with exquisite clothes are the ones that make me go "holy shit!"

How hard is it to cut doll bangs?
My only experience was trying to cut a rooted 1/12 head and it went terribly but I think starting at that scale was a mistake.

Depends if you know what you're doing or not. The larger the scale the 'easier' it is, but that still depends on if you know how to actually do it well. I suggest watching a lot of tutorial videos on wig trimming and getting a feel for how it's done first.

i think even at 1/3, you’re going to need heat to manipulate and shape fibers of such short length, which is probably trickier than the cutting itself. you’d want to heat the fibers and then hold them in the shape and position you want until they cool down, to set them. the heat resistance of whatever synthetic fibers you’re working with may be a mystery, so you’ll also want to test on some trimmings. what kind of result are you looking to achieve? willing to post terrible results?

Because of the way doll hair is rooted, high pony tails are going to be more of a challenge than low pony tails. If you want a low pony, start by gathering the front wefts that will line the face and put them along the wig line to hide it. You can tie it back with anything, but if you're new I recommend tying with a small rubber band or hair tie before trying to add a ribbon (and cut the rubber band out when you're done, don't pull it out, you'll take a lot of hair with it.) If you want a high pony, it's best to buy a wig that is already styled that way, as the wefts have to be placed around the cap edge correctly to look good.
