They say "windows just works" but no it does not, it is a virus by itself. Alice needs to delete the virus from her computer and install any of the numerous distributions of the GNU (plus Linux) operating system which is a free (as in free speech) operating system. It admittedly does take some work to get working the way you want it - same as Windows these days honestly - but it doesn't sabotage your computer and it doesn't do malicious stuff in the background.
Some say Linux is only free if your time has no value. Even if true (it's not), just how much value do you think the time of a hikikomori puppeteer has? Not much, if you ask me.
If Alice installs the FluidSynth plugin for VLC she can play her PC-98 theme in MIDI format too.

Why do you think I mentioned Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSC specifically? It's the only one that's serviceable. And 10 was (and still is) a massive downgrade compared to Windows 7.
