The only advantage of the mp5 is how well it works suppressed, particularly in full auto. So you see s lot of operators with the SD.

SBR became sort of necessary as body armour improved, but it's worth pointing out that at sea, not a lot of sailors wear personal body armour.
>>
guys who own/handled both the mp5 and mp5k, which do you prefer and why? I own a mp5 clone and I am thinking to get a mp5k clone just for kicks. Is it a distinct enough shooter or are they too similar to bother?
>>
>>64816347
How small is that guy? He makes the mp5 look huge
>>
>>64812067
Anyone got optics recommendations for a MP5? I was thinking a Holosun AEMS. I've got the UTG rail if that matters.
>>
>>64816426
The MP5 was more fun for me overall. The K didn't really shine on the range. Also, you'd potentially be looking at way more cost in extra parts if you plan on using a suppressor and/or FRT. The only real benefit is practicality in vehicles and such.
>>
Why can't someone just make an MP5 with an ambi bolt release and no roller dent issues, fucking retards.
>>
>>64817290
>The K didn't really shine on the range.
why?
>Also, you'd potentially be looking at way more cost in extra parts if you plan on using a suppressor and/or FRT.
why?

I've always wanted an MP5 and the K option seems more attractive since small guns are neat and 9mm is a pistol cartridge and doesn't need much barrel length.
>>
>>64817422
NTA but since I own an SP5k and AP5, Louder when suppressed, not as soft shooting (it's still pretty soft though), more awkward to hold onto, easier to get roller dents if you don't know what you're doing
>>
>>64817360
roller dent is already solved, they sell different angled locking pieces. a 90 or 80 degree locking piece will prevent roller dent in a suppressed MP5. there was a NASA ERT MP5 that famously survived 571,000 rounds before the barrel wore out, but I think that that was unsuppressed.
>>
>>64812112
Favorite version right there. Fixed stock and double stack mag. Looks so damn cool

You still need to check bolt gap, fuck stamped sheet metal shit
>>
There is nothing gayer than not having a bolt hold/release
>>
>>64817434
thanks
is there any way you could convey the sound difference? like maybe the K seems roughly twice as loud? how noticeable is the difference?
>>
>>64817458
oh I see, I was admittedly talking out of my ass and just thought you didn't know about the locking piece
>>64817466
really doesn't seem like much of an issue if you're not doing high intensity CQB with it or something. it'll never matter in a civilian context
>>
>>64817474
I have the 90 degree lp for my sp5k, specifically the one from RCM (I had purchased one from HK before going with RCM and the bolt gap was absolutely fucked), it doesn't matter. People still reported roller dent issues
>>
>>64817474
Nothing gayer than not knowing when your magazine is spent. Well, unless you were keeping track by counting
>>
>>64817489
seems like an 80 degree locking piece might get the job done then
what do you do if the bolt gap is fucked btw? what's the process for adjusting it?
>>
>>64817496
true, that would suck in war time unless you're lettin er rip in full auto. wouldn't really be much of a problem for a home defense gun though, you are in some serious monkey business if you're shooting 30 at someone as a civilian
>>
>>64817498
You have to buy different sized rollers. It's really gay, pretty sure the HKforums has a chart for what sized rollers you need for the bolt gap you're getting. Oh and the bolt gap will change after a while too. So you have to measure it occasionally
>>
>>64817504
It's just crazy to me how they had the bolt catch/release on the 10mm version since the FBI requested it and decided to leave it out of the sp5/sp5k, fucking faggots
>>
>>64817509
I didn't know about it changing over time. I guess it's not too bad since from what I can gather by looking it up it's about every 5,000 rounds. it takes a while to shoot 5,000 rounds
>>64817513
damn, I didn't know they had a bolt catch on the mp5/10, that really is fucking retarded that they didn't incorporate it on the newer mp5s then
>>
>>64812142
This is probably my favorite MP5 setup without a suppressor. I ended up setting up my clone in the same fashion for awhile.
>>
>>64812080
What's the plate thing tied to this dude's arm for?
>>
>>64817528
Some people will argue it's not accurate to the 9mm mp5 if they added it but the sp5 series is already fucked in terms of accuracy thanks to the lack of a second pin and the added internal block to prevent making it full auto
>>
Also I'm retarded and forgot that the 10mm's bolt catch feature comes from the magazine, so the sp5 is fucked no matter what if you wanted that feature
>>
>>64817529
yeah the surefire forend has so much swag
>>
>>64817561
oh true, I think that means that all MP5s would be kind of fucked then. I guess you could release new magazines that are compatible with it and backwards compatible with old MP5s, but then all existing mags in circulation would not work with the new guns and it'd be all fucked. kind of a shame.
>>
>>64817600
Maybe they can do it with polymer mags, idk. And honestly I've just been using the overwatch mod 2 polymer mags on my sp5k anyway since they're like 20 dollars each and won't rust unlike the HK ones I have. A tighter fit but you can sand it down
>>
>>64817611
Oh also they're 32 round mags so you get a bit more capacity with them. I also haven't experienced any reliability issues with em yet, they just look like shit. That's the only downside imo
>>
>>64817611
damn, I didn't know that the HK mags had rust issues, that's total ass. the steel mags for my m9a4 don't rust where the coating has rubbed off of them. I thought that HK was supposed to use TEVTONIC CANNON STEEL folded 1,000 times
>>
>>64817623
Also since they're 32 rd mags, you can load them to 30 and insert the magazine with the bolt closed. Fuck... I hate stamped sheet metal shit
>>
>>64817630
I make sure to spray mine with barricade, just in case, makes em sticky after a while but it's whatever
>>
Despite all my annoying bitching the sp5k is still one of my favorite firearms in my collection, just don't get me started on the optic mount mounting point
>>
>>64817644
So...
how 'bout them optics

Original Aimpoint, or a Weaver Qwik Point/Armson OEG if you want to do an authentic 70s GSG9 larp.
Bolting a maglite to the top and using the center shadow is also viable.

Stargate MP5 with something different than the Colt scope??????????????
>>
>>64812110
>mke-in-somalia-1987
I think this stands out as a testament to the MKE MP5s. They've been making the MP5 for decades, and most of issues they had were with the parts for making a full-auto gun semi-auto only or other US compliance mods.

I'm sure they made changes with the newer guns. I noticed that an AP5N on a rack at the local gun store had a cad-plated extractor spring as opposed to the black oxide springs in the early guns.
>>
>>64818443
> perfectly clean, pristine, color-coordinated, meticulously framed gun-shaped fashion accessories
How is it even possible to be that gay?
>>
>>64818395
Hk had a special flashlight for the mp5 that bolted (properly) to the top and had a very crisp shadow dot in the center of the light beam where the point of impact would be.

I think the anon should go for this option, naturally.
>>
Are they worth buying in current year? As a gun that can be reliable used for self defense and what not. I already have a bunch of ARs and want something different, but still viable. Don't really care for a retro aesthetic so I'll probably get a PTR one with a modern handguard and top rail

I'm digging this aesthetic for some reason.
Also, crazy to think that was once a M113.
>>
>>64817644
>just don't get me started on the optic mount mounting point
NTA, I've come to the conclusion I may just get a welded raik version. I hope I don't regret it, just don't want to deal with mounts. Not a lot of choice, and often not cheap. Meanwhile, other than breaking welds, that rail should be stiff and not shift POI much, at least not easily. I hope.
>>
>>64819392
Mp5s are highly overrated. I would have sold my sp5k if I didn't form 1 it like a moron.

absolutely. I say this as a mp5 enjoyer.
>>
>>64819507
True, it's an outdated platform but it just shoots so softly
>>
>>64820173
It seems like a fun light carbine for plinking and larping. But yeah if I owned one I don’t think it would be in my top 5 guns to grab when something is actually happening.
>>
>>64820183
first gun I would grab if I want to have fun at the range, last gun I'd grab during a happening.
>>
>>64820195
True. My most fun range guns are usually the most accurate and the least tactical. Interesting dynamic.
>>
>>64820183
>>64820195
MP5k would be the first gun I would grab if the situation necessitated I conceal it inside a normal civvie backpack or messenger bag.
>>
>>64820226
Same. It really is a great gun and with FRTs its a wrap. Very useful.
>>
>I almost missed MP5 thread

>>
Is it normal for the A3 stock to be stiff? My friend claims you just have to work it for a while and let it get scuffed up to become smoother.
>>
>>64822008
Yeah they can be extremely hard to move in and out until the paint wears down. Your receiver could also be fucked though
>>
>>64822395
I greased it up and jacked it off for a while. It's smooth now, but it has a little bit of wobble to the right. No twist or up/down or left though. Is that normal?
>>
>>64822586
A little bit of play is normal.
Mine doesn't move left/right, though. Just wobbles upwards.

It makes no difference what men think of MP5, said the judge. MP5 endures. As well ask men what they think of 1911. MP5 was always here. Before man was, wMP5 waited for him. The ultimate gun awaiting its ultimate operator. That is the way it was and will be. That way and not some other way.

Should be fine with the stock 100 degree for 115 and 124 grain bullets in the FRT.

If you shoot 147 grain suppressed with a FRT, then I'd look at a 90 degree. Good luck finding one though, it's out of stock everywhere.
>>
>>64819507
If i could only shoot one gun the rest of my life it would be the mp5k easily.
>>
>>64831592
It's in a MP5SD, to be precise. I believe it has a 115 or 120.
>>
>>64831680
120° for 124gr and 115° for 115gr OR if shooting in freezing temps.
>>
>>64831795
I'm having a bout of the retarded, reverse that. 115° for 124gr and 120° in cold or with 115gr ammo.
>Although I use a 120° for everything without issues.
>>
Anybody know a QD mount for an aimpoint t2, but still lets you use irons?
>>
>>64831817
I'll double check when I'm not busy, but HTA did the conversion, and I THINK they use a 115. Will I get dents if I use a 120deg with 115gr ammo (or vice versa)? Yes, I know I'm being autistic about this, but I don't want to royally fuck up my autism gun.

Watched a movie called 6 Days. It's about the raid on the Iranian Embassy in London by the SAS.
I noticed many of the SAS dudes had either blue tape or red tape on their magazines.
Is this something that the movie producers did as a nod to Diehard 2, or was it actually for something legit?
>>
>>64832580
Its legit. You can make out the tape on some mags on a couple SAS storming the outside windows of the embassy. It was probably to show sonic vs subsonic loaded mags.
>>
>>64832580
Could be a team designation. Great movie
