I am in the Air Force DEP at the moment and I have a security clearance interview coming up. How was everyone else's security clearance interview? I read that they go through what you put for your SF-86 but that was months ago and I had to assemble it it in a hurry so I may not even remember some crucial details.

Army HPSP here, happy to answer questions about what its like getting medical school through the military. Dental and vet are pretty much the same.

I'm waiting to get medical cleared, still don't have a physical scheduled, I'm probably not gonna get shipped out before at least next year, am I?

Why worry about that? They're mostly going to ask for clarification on any issued with your answers. For example, when I did mine, I had a brain fart and accidentally marked on my sf86 that I was still in high school despite having graduated 5 years previously. The interviewer was basically like "this was a mistake right?" and I was like "yeah my bad I'm kinda retarded" and we both laughed and moved on. No reason to worry unless you're an actual terrorist or foreign spy.

The bongland military has a reserve SAS and Para unit. I'm not gonna join them but, I think it's cool they exist

Is the coast guard hard to join? I don't want to waste my time driving 45 mins to an hour if it will be a waste/long time to join.

Dude. I had to drive 1 hour back and forth 6 times just to join the Army and not the Marines who were in spitting distance from me. Choose wisely and dont choose the most convenient option.

The ANG I'm interested in has a drone unit, and it's in the boonies, it seems, so I'd have to plan around it.

army is what you join if you gotta join fast. maybe navy too, no clue there.
marines are kinda slow to ship. their bread and butter seems to be high schoolers.
air force is a mix. some people ship oddly quick.

How long does MEPS usually take to review submitted docs?
I got all my docs for my waivers about a month ago AND went for a scheduled consult and my recruiter says they still havent updated my status or looked at my docs.
I got my job reserved for March (was planning on leaving then) but I dont know if I will get to sign a contract before then. What do?

My personal opinion, rifleman in the National Guard is the best choice for anons that want to do this.
Not even in the sense of "the National Guard IS the militia" meme that some people ignorantly spout, but -

>your body will have time to recover between drill periods
>can take care of yourself to a non military standard when not drilling or called up
>you'll presumably do a lot of your field training in your home state
>that means so will your platoon buddies that you can network with
>if you do deploy overseas, more likely to be to a "combat zone" than plenty of active duty Army and Marine units
Also, a big perk is - unless I'm mistaken, you'll know what battalion you're joining up with. So, you'll know if they're good or ass.

If a NG Batallion starts taking heavy losses, it might take them years to recover the manpower compared to an active duty batallion.
Active duty guys cant really deployment dodge as easy either and have more field experience by default so why do they send NG?

RASP is just way easier than SF training. Not to say its easy, you know what I mean. Two different worlds.
Best time to join SF is 25-35. You should be in great shape to go to either RASP or go 18x.
