I have a pump action VRPA-40 with 1.2k shells through it. Runs 12 pellet buck and 1600ft/s slugs no problem. It's picky with ammo though and hates Federal and certain Troy slugs.

In my experience those Turkish and Chinese shotguns have poor spring tempering. Maybe there's a difference with guns built off military designs, but I know for a fact that both have issues with common guns. I had a .22 and a single shot 16 gauge, both of which snapped springs and would no longer fire. The pirate gun I had actually worked pretty well, but simply starting shooting itself to death after about 100 shells. Stock came loose and screws and pins started wiggling out from that point on. I briefly owned a Turkish 12 gauge pump action as well, and had a pretty fun time at the gravel pit with some pals, at the end of the day I looked it over, and the pins holding the trigger group in where just gone. It was all held together by a weird pistol grip design, and I managed to find one pin. I traded it for a few hundred 12 gauge shells, and a sling. Just don't rely on one of these things if you buy one.

I've handled some of the nu-Winchesters made in Turkey and they're not even comparable to the OGs made in Connecticut. The fit and finish is rattley and even basic stuff like the fibre optic front sight comes loose from nothing at all. Basic stuff like that shouldn't even be happening, put a dab of Loctite on it at the goddamn factory and be done with it (but they don't, which speaks volumes).

If someone is going to spend the $500 on a new SXP shotgun they'd be better served spending that on a used Model 12 from the 1960s or a Winchester 1200/1300 from the 80s/90s. Those guns are all solid and run like champs.

For a semiauto, Ruger 10/22 is king. There are dozens if variations, and thousands of configurations with aftermarket parts. The only downside is the 10 round limit because of our gay laws unless you have a Remington 597 adapter.
For bolt action, CZ 457 is great. One of the best 22lr rifles ever made.

Alternatively if you don't need the customizability of the 10/22, the Winchester Wildcat is a good cheaper alternative. Same with the Winchester Xpert for a bolt action, the action is surprisingly good for a rifle that's a few hundred dollars cheaper than the CZ.
