Alaska is cold
>>
>>64829378
that is a pro AK argument since it was developed in a frigid environment
>>
>>64829375
Arkansas is better

they're a bitch to work on, good quality ones are more expensive than good quality ARs, ammo costs
>>
>>64829432
>ammo
Probably the biggest bad point. x39 is about 2x more that 5.56 nato
>>
>>64829467
Don't tell that to /akg/, they throw a shitfit and insist "its not that much more".
>>
>>64829375
from ammoseek, 7.62x39 is going for $0.49/round while 5.56nato is going for $0.19/round. you can shoot twice as much for the same price if you stay with an ar platform
>>
>>64829553
you only need to shoot 20 rounds when you go to the range. anything more is a waste.

This is what I have been noticing. The days of cheap ammo and cheap AKs is long gone...

You're 10 years too late

>limit: one box per customer
The cheapest option with no order limit is 34 cents per round.

I am married to my AK but only because I bought ammo in the Trump slump. I’ve had 4 ARs at various points but sold all of them. They are boring and not enjoyable to shoot at all. I will shoot through my remaining golden tiger and then just suck it up and start paying 50cpr for new ammo. Also, 123gr SSTs fuck shit up.

Tell me you’re poor without telling me you’re poor.
>T. Shoots .308 regularly.
5.56 sissy will tell you “muh cost” while disregarding that .22LR is the cheapest option for trigger training.
>INB4 muh cheep “full power” rifle cartridge.
LMAO no, 5.56 is an intermediate cartridge like .22 and .30 carbine. .308 is the min for adult man rifle cartridges.

i own an SLR 106CR and SLR 106UR so ammo isnt a factor, theyre both all zenico'd out alpha stype with optics. theyre fun range toys but the ergos and accuracy are subpar when compared to my AR pattern rifles. they are overgassed to shit and installing gas mitigation features isnt easy. they are fun guns but i regret investing around 5k in them when i could just get an MR556.

Why do you noshoots faggots say shit like this so confidently?
They're about the same price/round for quality ammo from reputable manufacturers, especially once you take into account things like shipping rates on ammo.

The fact that ONE company will sell you ONE box of 20 dogshit mystery meat remans for 19cpr (before shipping lol) absolutely does NOT mean "5.56 is going for $0.19/round"

ACTUAL price for said box of dogshit mystery meat remans is ~$.74/rd btw, pic fucking related. And they actually charge MORE for local pickup

You can get PMC bronze for 25 cents per round online. I don't know what ammo you are using.
>>
>>64829375
Compared to AR:
>Less accurate
>Heavier
>Over-gassed
>Worse loadings for both flavors of x39
>Way worse ergos and controls
>Harsher recoil, more muzzle climb
>Sometimes less reliable (YMMV)
The only thing they really have going for them is that there's no magwell for the mag to freeze in in extreme cold.

>You can get PMC bronze for 25 cents per round online
You can get PMC Bronze for 25cpr shipped? Link it up nigger let's see it, I'll buy 3 cases right now at that price.
>>

>>64830579
Post the link. I also will buy several cases at that price.

Russians are gay. By the transitive property, AKs are also gay.
>>
>>64829695
you sound gay
>>
>>64830498
Turn on the free shipping filter or add the inevitability high shipping cost to your 25 cent ammo and recalculate the CPR before spouting this shit off.
>>
>>64830579
>>64832771
Calm down, perhaps it is a good thing you guys can't afford ammo.
>>
>>64830621

the only place statistically gayer than the USA is tel aviv. and there is no distinction between american occupied lands and jewish ones. so not only are you retarded but you also are a faggot.
>>
>>64833138
Ziggers may not be literally gay, but they are spiritually gay, and so are AKs.

>>64833138

Ammo is expensive, and 5.56 Aks are for fags.

>>64833138
Russia has high rates of HIV infection. So does Africa. The disease you get from said virus is known as GRIDS (Gay Related Immune Deficiency Syndrome). Since it is known that both Africans and the disease are gay, it is a reasonable conclusion that Russians are also gay.
>>
>>64829467
If you were in Europe they'd cost about the same now, but Norma is the only ammo available that can even be said to group from Russian AKs now

My Aussie SLR doesn't get to go out in winter, because I really really can't be fucked to do all the meticulous oiling it needs because of its shitty parkerizing
In summer it barely needs to be wiped down

where the fuck have you been? someone post the dedovshchina helicopter vid
>>
>>64833059
lmao that's what I fuckin thought, faggot

>le 50cpr 7.62x39 is too expensive!
>calling shit-talking no shoots out for not shooting enough to understand that "25cpr" 5.56 isn't actually 25cpr to your door, typically more like 45cpr means you're poor!
Sorry, loser, you have to pick one.

I don't like Arkansas but when I drive through on I-30 east I pass the Remington ammunition factory.
>>
I've seen more a mini 14 blow up from a bad reload an ar blow up from a squib a revolver blow up from a misaligned cylinder and like 6 aks blow up while in good condition using various calibers in different brands for no reason at all

If you can find one you trust go for it otherwise I'll use my AR and let the ak just be a collectors item
>>
>>64829375
7.62x39 is fat and slow.
>>
>>64829375
AKs are super fun to shoot but I can't recommend trying to treat them as your main gun if you're in the US. Putting optics on them is more expensive and you have some oddities, putting lights/lasers on them is a nightmare (the best option imo is the Zastava handguard, great but heavy), and ammo is getting more and more expensive for them. You end up spending a lot of money and adding a lot of weight just to get it to be a mediocre AR. Imo the AK is best enjoyed as a classic you keep clean and enjoy as it was designed.
>>
AK Fag here,

Pre 2020 would've been the last time you could reasonably buy an AK and bulk ammo without paying exuberant prices.

Now, 7.62x39 is expensive, 5.45 is unobtanium/SUPER expensive.

A decent AK is sitting around 1K if you get a good deal. Most are like 1,200+.
At that price, you could get a decent AR, ammo and an okay-ish light and optic.

If something really shitty happens, and you need to tactically acquisit spare parts or ammo, you are SOL as most people own ARs in the US.
The war in UKR is the main reason why things are so expensive/hard to find, especially with the pandemic, and I doubt things will change anytime remotely soon.
