say what you want about the russian navy, but their battlecruisers are hot. look how sleek the hull is and how harmonious the growth of the superstructure. arguably the best looking ships of the cold war, and they still mog the modern bricks of today

When on fire - yes.

kirov is a good idea: instead of a carrier strike group, you have a surface action group centered around offensive missiles, which have their own positives and negatives compared to a carrier air wing.

trump bbgs will follow a similar doctrine.
>>
>>64830032
It's fucking wild that the Kirovs were the only mostly-VLS ships the Russian navy ever built.
They still don't have a VLS-only destroyer or larger.
>>
They do have cool aesthetics, but that's where their qualities end. No need to extrapolate the vintage cold-war looks into their modern capabilities. Makes it sound like propaganda or something. Surely that's not your intention?
>>
>>64830032
They do look a lot better than the slava's cluttered mess.
But I like the long beach's cubic megamind more
>>
>>64830032
Should remove the stupid arm-launchers, and actually fill up the 'built for, but not with' VLS tubes.
>>
>>64830084
they're being refitted to carry zircon over granit, so for their role, they're equally capable in the modern environment.
>>
>>64830032
Just don't look inside the engine room.
>>
>>64830135
if only they worked in the first place. there's only one left operative, and that's the one being refitted. the others went the way of the kuznetsov
>>
How long till it shits the bed and russia declares surface combatants over frigate size obsolete?
>>
>>64830161
now that trump wants to build a big beautiful battleship? it'll take a long time. maybe they'll wait until the project gets jettisoned to do that, after all if the americans actually manage to build it and for some miracle it turns out that battlecruisers are the future of naval warfare, they would look like total retards
>>
>>64830032
fat overweight target for AShM
>>
>>64830135
>they're equally capable in the modern environment
Agreed, they went from beign garbage in the 1980's to being garbage in the 2020's. As ever, Russia cannot into navy.
>>
>>64830172
>they would look like total retards
Anon, that horse has bolted a long time ago.
>>
>>64830032
How many popcorn-blast-bombs required to sink that beauty?
>>
>>64830153
such is the decline of empires. maybe pyotr velikiy will return, but the cost might not be worth it in comparison to funding new frigates and ssns that can carry zircon all the same.

if the us manages to get out several bbgs, they'll do the concept justice.
>>
>>64830032
Bomb let air in and torpedo let water in, which will sink a ship faster?

Di they bury him in a paper bag coated in clarified butter?

What is good about this idea?

It's at least armed to the absolute teeth.

176x VLS cells

80x strike length vls cells
- 3M22 Zircon hypersonic anti-ship
- 3M14 Kalibr long-range cruise missiles for land targets
- P-800 Oniks supersonic anti-ship
- Otvet anti-submarine missiles

96x air defence length vls cells
- 48N6 with 400km range

6x Pantsir-M air defence systems with
- 8 missiles each ready to fire, + 32 in reload magazine (240 Missiles total) 20km range
- two 30mm Gatling guns each (8 Gatling guns total)

Paket-NK torpedo defence system to shoot down incoming torpedoes
RBU-6000 rocket depth charges
Anti-submarine torpedo launchers
3x KA-27 Helix for submarine hunting and search and rescue in hangar
>>
>>64830544
Very impressive on paper. This made me realize Russian Navy is very strong and should be taken very serious. If Paket-NK is even half as capable as mighty Pantsir one must ask oneselves how the evil wect will ever compete. No wonder Trump wants Battleships, but we all know that without Russian genius those will be bad ships and not very strong.

Yes, every post here is written by a shill to influence your opinion, since that is worth so much.
You are irrelevant. Your opinion is so irrelevant, not only does nobody care about you, nobody has even bothered inventing a suitable term to express how much they do not fucking care about it.
>>
>>64830544
You forgot to say"on paper". Out of 4 vessels, 3 are scrapped and one is rusting in drydock for years. There's not a single bullet aboard those ship, much less missiles.
>>
Always liked the xboxhueg missile containers on smaller corvettes.

Lmao meltie out of nowhere. Must be a chink, only they behave like this. They vomit out stats and if you don't immediatly gawk at how brilliant their post is, they immediatly drop the act and resort to throw childish insults at you. Absolutely pathetic.

>>64830695
Pyotr Velikiy was taken out of service in 2022 there have been no declared plans to refit it.

Admiral Nakhimov spent 25+ years in drydock undergoing repairs and refits and was apparently taken out on sea trials last summer. I do not have high hopes for it.

you can accuse the Soviet military complex of MANY things, but failing to be aesthetic isn't one of them. They were high as balls off that futurism shit
>>
>>64830032
I just like the MiG-25. It looks cool and I wish we went for super high speed aircraft over stealth.
>The year is 2026
>Instead of investing in stealth America invested in pure speed
>F-12 capable of mach 3.35 comes out in the 60s
>In the 1980s we come out with a fighter capable of mach 5
>The B-2 instead of being stealthy is a scramjet bomber capable of reaching suborbital altitudes and the F-22 is capable of reaching mach 9 and simply outrunning anything fired at it
>>
>>64830135
>they're equally capable
They have like one operational ship, no? That's literally useless
>>
>>64830032
>say what you want about the Russian navy
Okay. The Russian navy is an oragnisation utterly incapable of fulfilling its intended purpose. The culture, technical capability, extant materiel and funding are inadequate to provide anywhere near the level of active effort to deter Russia's enemies and so they exist solely on the apathy of more capable nations towards them and the total lack of interest within the populace of those more capable nations in bullying what is akin to the class retard of global navies.

As is easily seen in this thread, their propaganda department is more effective than their actual sailors and naval architects. I will remind you that Russia lost their flagship in 2022 to Ukraine, a nation without a surface fleet of its own. As such the reality is that the Russian navy is utterly pathetic, the only reason that I am not calling for it to be dissolved entirely is that they are actually fulfilling western geopolitical aims by drawing resources away from Russian institutions that are more threatening to the west along with the wider Russian economy.
