What is the 'power level' of aircraft in Nuclear Options like compared to real counterparts? Is it like most fictional military equipment where it's inferior to late 1980s equipment because writers are dumb?

the high-end fighters generally have really good engines compared to modern, >M 1.6 cruise at alt and ifrit can supercruise at sea level. probably not as good as they could be in the 2070s but the playable factions are implied to be kind of backwards i feel so it's justified

universal datalink and guiding a/a missiles based on any track at all is definitely better than 1980s capabilities, and everything about the medusa is powerwank

the biggest fount of inferiority has to be the missiles atm. antiships are pathetic at their job (latest update made ashms work on corvettes sometimes but otherwise still just ground targets) and there's no HOBS capability for anything so WVR fights are a bit weird with the emphasis on planes' supermaneuverability but no equivalent for the missiles. and if we're talking 80s, brawler's 30mm pod shows just how niche the a-10's gun is against a competent air defence net

of course someone's about to start complaining about drones but those are on the to-do list

which craft exactly are you basing this on?
i used a mod that showed time remaining at a given consumption and the ifrit does ~130 min at mil power (necessarily less efficient than cruise speed)

working with wikipedia statistics, a hornet clean but for aim-9s at a cruise speed of 890 km/h has a range of 2017 km which means an endurance of ~135 minutes

ifrit's fuel load is 8.2 tons, hornet's 4.9 tons

What? The newest plane is the most resistant to IR in the game and has about the most missile magazine depth in the game.

That's true but whenever I do anything other than that the increased density of AAA, naval and increased effectiveness of R9s turns into a headache. Not to mention there are new surface to air launchers being added. These tweaks were clearly made with cooperation in mind but in SP "cooperating" with friendly AI aircraft isn't really a thing.
