If you assemble the SBR yourself the form 1 is super easy to do and takes like five minutes on silencershop.
If you buy an SBR prebuilt then it becomes a form 4 just like a suppressor and has to sit in your gun store for months and months until the ATF can get the current backlog unfucked. If it's your first tax stamp you ain't seeing that shit till the spring, there's over 2,000,000 form 4 applications since Jan 1st

I hate SBS/SBR vs suppressor transport restrictions. Wanna go across state lines with your suppressor? As long as it's legal in that state. SBR/SBS? WHERE YOU GOING?! GOR HOW LONG?! FILL OUT THESE FORMS OR TO THE BUTTFUCK HOUSE WITH YOU!

>you are bound only by Texas state law.
This is still theoretical; the Texas in-state suppressor manufacture bill, while it passed, still needs to be tested in Federal court. The bill pretty much said Texas will not prosecute you, but it doesn't protect the ATF from trying to rape you.

Kansas has a similar law and it didn't stop these guys from getting fucked by the feds.

>Surely the courts will uphold the Constitution and not just piss all over it!
Sorry anon, that ship sailed long ago. The only chance you have of arguing that the NFA doesn't apply to you is if you have never ever filled out an ATF form including the 4473. Even then they'll come shoot your dog, and possibly shoot you as well so you can't rape them in court afterward.

The Kansas law was originally written so that federal agents trying to enforce the NFA within Kansas would be breaking state law, but they cucked out and removed that section so it doesn't do anything. I'm not familiar with the Texas law, is it the same as the Kansas one or did they ban federal enforcement?

Batfag field agents don't go trolling around looking for violations, they spend most of their time dealing with FFLs and tips, or entrapment cases. If you're not selling untaxed title 2 firearms, then the only likely way you will be caught is local police catching them for something else you've done and forwarding the tax evasion charge to the local batfag field office. If local LEO aren't supposed to do that, they won't, and you won't get caught unless someone reports you to the batfags, or the feds are looking to jam you up (in which case they'd just manufacture a charge anyway). Also, I've had unregistered title 2 firearms siezed from me twice by the batfags and both times they declined to prosecute, likely because I have a clean record and there was no other charge. They only seem to like charging nfa cases when they're attached to other criminal charges. YMMV, but I dont file 4473s, form 1s, or form 4s and I'm still a free man.

You can legally saw it down to something like 18" with no paperwork. Length is measured from inside the barrel, so use a marked dowel rod or something like that, and it's probably safer to leave an extra half inch just to be certain that nobody can come after you over it.
Anything shorter, and yeah, what these guys said.

it's the same situation in Minneapolis with ICE and BP, if you attract the attention of Feds they don't need the cooperation of the states to fuck you up, but they're much less likely to find you without the cooperation of the state
