it's not the F35's fault that her enemies can't build anything worth shooting down.

F-35 just providing targeting information. The actual takedown was by a ship escort.

Shooting down V1s didn't count as an aerial victory in WW2, so didn't count towards being an ace. But they were still recorded as a kill

That's a more interesting capability than shooting down a target that even a ww2 fighter could.

F-22 was cooler since they had to climb pretty damn high to engage, and people on the ground recorded it.

Yeah the F35 helped out during Iran's massive drone and missile barrage at Israel, with the F35 going first and "painting" targets for, if I recall correctly, "missle trucks" F15's and the like to shoot down.
So the F35 is super helpful as a pointer dog even once its arsenal is expended.

Is shooting a missile at a chinkshit drone from BVR actually any easier than shooting a missile at a chinkshit plane from BVR?
>>

02/04/26(Wed)03:33:01 No.64835748 >>64835717
yes
drone sensor suites have very poor situational awareness and they don't have weapons or even if they had, lack the thrust and manoeuvreability to make use of them as effectively as a manned fighter
V1 rockets flew at night which in the first 2/3rds of the 21st century still involved specialised night-flying skills, were difficult to see, and difficult to shoot down because they tended to explode. a few RAF pilots were killed by the blast. that is why V1 killers were accorded merit. and even then it was not regarded as a "proper" kill.

Why would thrust or maneuverability matter when they're getting splashed before they realize they're not alone?
