Ive seen alot of videos of "surviving in an urban environment/urban evasion" during a total breakdown of society/a without rule of law scenario. While there is alot of good info, it seems like they dont take into account density, geography and how some cities in the US are WILDLY different from each other. IE Urban Evasion and survival is infinitely easier in some and difficult in others. Ive been to most big cities in the US so i can definitively say the following are top tier difficulty where trying to escape would probably be just as dangerous as staying put.

NYC (Especially Manhattan)
Population 8 million
Population Density: 29k per square mile
Out of the 5 boroughs that make up NYC the only one connected to the US mainland that would allow any overland route out of the city (The Bronx) just so happens to be the most crime plagued. Manhhatan is an island only connected by bridges and tunnels, same with Staten Island, You can only escape Brooklyn and Queens by going east further into long island proper.
The city and state do not recognize out of town CCW permits, the entire city has only 14 gun stores which carry limited inventory and the city is hostile to self defense in general

San Francisco
Population 870K
Population Density: 19k per square mile
The city is located on the northern end of a peninsula so the only way to escape the city via land is by going south. SF also has INSANE topography they built that fucking place on top of hills and valleys and the elevation changes are pretty wild, so much so that parts of the city has "micro climates" where temp differences can be 20 or 30 degrees apart. Needless to say its not going to be an easy flat walk out of the city. Much like NYC they dont respect out of state CCW and there are not many gun stores.

Hudson county NJ
Population: 736k
Population Density is 15k per square mile
basically all the same points as SF but you have to travel north to escape. The entire county is a peninsula located across the river from Manhattan. If that wasnt bad enough while SF has hills the county is bordered by Urban swamplands and industrial runoff rivers on all sides. Much like the last two they dont respect out of state ccw and only a handfull of gunstores.

Those are just the 3 worst that come to mind based on my travels.

In all three cities you chose, the ones surviving will be the ones in a gang. The power of numbers is real, and being in a group matters.
