Pretty much every nonvillain says that to me. When I read I feel like an intruder in their world and they are giving me a hateful side eye to say "what is THAT thing looking at us?? How dare he reads our book?!?" while smiling and acting happy to everyone else in there. Samuel Johnson (biography) was the worst in this regard, I felt sickened when I read about him and I felt like he wanted to beat me to death for reading about him, but his own works had a warmth and friendliness that made me think he was ok if i knew him...
