>[redacted] : The story of O is the craziest thing I have read in my life
>Epstein : what did you think of the story
>[redacted] : Well... so far, she was beaten till blood, raped and shared with everyone. Not really nice.
>[redacted] : 50 shades of gray was more pleasurable than painful
>Epstein : this is a political satire. you must read to end and then if you want read marquis de sade. it is not about pain . it is about the state raping its citizens, sharing them without regard. the aristocracy, taking advantage of those that can't fight back.
>Epstein : you were not allowed to write bad things about the govt , so they wrote fiction that has a double meaning. for ex. it said the father should be able to kill his son. because the king could send the son to his death by putting him in the army and sending him off to battle. why shouldn't the father have a greater right
>Epstein : however the marquis de sade was put in jail for the books.
>Epstein : dont worry, I don't like things that rough

the flavour of his stupidity is uniquely American. Its relevant...
Of course there is a different unique stupidity about other cuttures.
But JE is American and his stupidity fits into that culture. Here is an interview with a person from South Africa, but the utter mindnumbing inanities that he spews out, pretending they are deep, is of the American style:

This part is Straussian
>you were not allowed to write bad things about the govt , so they wrote fiction that has a double meaning
Strauss beleived all writers "write between the lines" and there is an esoteric meaning deliberately hidden in texts different from the exoteric meaning.

I don't know if it really applies to Sade as he is very direct in his libertine republicanism. There may well be analogies and metaphors in his works, but I don't know if he is hiding an esoteric meaning--he is rather blunt and direct with it all.

The thing that I find most appalling about the now confirmed cabal of pedophile billionaires running the world is how little taste for the arts they have. You have all the money and all the time in the world to become a nuanced, cultured, well-read and deep man, and to enjoy sophisticated things to their deepest level. Yet all you produce is tasteless slop superficial opinions on everything. It is truly pathetic to see the pinnacle of power an wealth, supposedly all you are meant to obtain in life, not being able to express an articulate opinion on a book, or to reach any kind of depth with their words. When you talk to someone who works, you can at least excuse them for not being cultured because 40 hours a week of any job will demonolish your psychological and intellectual life; but what is the excuse of the billionaire? If you are rich and stupid it just shows so much it's embarassing to witness. It's like Elon Musk wanting to send missiles to mars and then being unable to make a proper Elden Ring build... These guys are so swagless and in a world where everyone is in constant communication with each other it's impossible to hide how underserved their power and wealth is, when compared with their human quality.
And this whole priapic sprees they go on seem like the over-compensation for the fact that they have failed in achieving any sort of intellectual depth, and that they are left alone with old age and infinite power. I see old Harold Bloom videos and hear a guy in his 80s who had the time of his life just reading: he's lucid, he's passionate, he's articulate and curious - he's the real-life version of anime old-men who just keep getting stronger and levelling up. I see Epstein and read his emails full of typos and see him express trite and idiot takes on media, and all this sex trafficking stuff just looks more and more like a heightened version of a depressed worker abusing porn at the end of his shift. I keep thinking these guys should have gone back to study and try to produce something of intellectual value, in order to find some kind of peace.
