I wasn't aware but Z-END is apparently an unfinished manga by Kamen Rider Spirits' author and C.A.T. never made an adaptation just a tokusatsu PV and the use the suit for promotions, so it isn't an actual proper toku, but Mobile Knight Police seems to be a proper toku project from the phrasing Uchuusen gave, hopefully the news that are releasing on this volume are substantial: https://youtu.be/jUJimguvcew

Thank you for recommending this, anon! DL'd this last night and watched the first episode this morning. It was lovely to see familiar actors like Yuria Haga and Takamasa Suga again. Also really dug all the Shibuya location shots, and the whole general grungy 2000s delinquent gang vibe hit really strong. The setting and feel remind me a lot of The World Ends With You.

It's my first MH in general so I don't know how the others compare but I've been progressing through Janperson and what I really like about it is a rather unique tone. It has what is a fairly grounded and at times depressing setting shown within the episodic plots but maintains a very idealistic world view within the heroes.
There are episodes with tragic villains that Janperson recognizes he needs to stop and doesn't hesitate to do so but still shows genuine sympathy towards them.

Adding to that, the main suits in Janperson are all top tier designs and look amazing on camera. Also the way the show is centered around three villain factions, each with their own quirks and goals, keeps everything feeling fresh from episode to episode. The only real problems with the series is some egregious prop and suit reuse from older shows, which highlights the limited budget that honestly gets in the way of the toy shilling.

It rarely uses MOTW and use criminals of the week with different schemes and powers. Also it seemlessly blends together Adam West style Batman campiness with genuinely dark, throught provoking, and violent episodes. Like, there have been a number of on screen child deaths so far.

Also thanks to not having to make a new monster suit every week, the effects and setpieces are far more sophisticated and they actually don't use the toku quarry for every fight scene.

Plus, instead of one evil villain faction, you get 3, and all are great.

I haven't seen Blue Swat yet, I hear it starts off great but halfway through it shits the bed.

Jiban however, is one of the most dull pieces of toku I've ever seen. It's got great suits and effects, but that's pretty much it. The plots are dull, most of the characters are dull, and my god the fights are AWFUL.

90% of the fights are just Jiban standing there getting the shit kicked out of him for 5 minutes without landing a single hit on his opponent, then right before he loses he remembers he can do stuff and effortlessly one shots them.

That's every single fight.

The first episode also promises a dark, Robocop like tone but it never commits to it. Like, for all that Biolon is set up as a dark and gritty organization, I think they only kill like 4 or 5 people in the entire show.

Are there any series with mecha battles as good as Chouseishin Gransazer?

I am very nearly done remastering the English dub of the Ambassador Magma toku, but "remaster" is relative here given the ABSOLUTE DISREPAIR this dub is in. For those who don't know, The Space Giants, the English version of Ambassador Magma, has never had any kind of official home or streaming release, nor has it been seen on TV since the early 80's. Some guy pulled a Chaiyo & started fraudulently claiming ownership of the English version, & started peddling these overexposed out of sync bootlegs with audio quality ranging from decent to awful & where the dub constantly cuts in & out. These bootlegs are the only, I repeat, ONLY recordings of the dub publicly available, so I had my work cut out for me. Naturally I'm subbing where the dub cuts out but here's the kicker, the Japanese & English scripts are 100% COMPLETELY DIFFERENT, like you can clearly tell that they were only given synopses of the episodes to work with rather than the actual scripts & had to make up the dub script from the bare minimum of context they were provided. That's not even the real problem, that would be the fact that sometimes on these bootlegs the dub cuts out MID-SENTENCE, to a completely different Japanese sentence which I then have to sub, I'm sure you can see the problem. It's even worse when the dub adds dialogue to where there was silence in the original. But I'll try to figure something out, & hopefully in the end you'll enjoy the show if you're interested.

if it's a thing where you need the audio to be good but the video is just for reference I could ghetto transfer it just pointing a camera at the screen but use what powers I have on getting a good transfer of the audio

I just finshed the finale of Makabe's story and I'm so fucking confused? Why was his plan to cause an uprising between humans and robots starting in Bravo town if all the robots in Bravo Town were under his mind control to begin with? Why did he need to start a false flag operation? Why did he wait so long to do this?

Also, what was with his flashback with Bonnie? Why did Bonnie randomly take his brother hostage during the run in with the cops?

Most of the robots in Bravo Town weren't under his control. It's just that the ones that drank the Alco-Oil were susceptible to the pain waves caused by the tower. You could argue that Neo Guild couldn't be directly involved with causing the riot, since their robots were easy for our heroes to sniff out. It also might have taken a while to build up enough resentment between the humans and robots. Although Gun Gibson calls George out on being sentimental about the town so not everything he did had to be logical.

I can see what they were going for with Bonnie but the execution felt a bit botched. The idea is robots and humans could never truly live together because even Bonnie sided with the other robot and in a panic tried to preserve himself at nearly the cost of the kids he loved so dearly.

Some of that is just the tendencies of weekly TV (and Tokusatsu especially) to create huge problems that have to be solved by the end of the episode. There's a number of robot revolts and massacres by the time George launches his grand scheme. And also they needed a way for Janperson to finish off bad guys so that's why we got so many secret robots and bio-monsters.
