I don't like the Kamen Riders that uses devices to transform. I get it, they are toys to be sold. But I think Kamen Riders that just transform using their will are much cooler- the belts and other gears can show up as they transforms.

It's just the new status quo now, it's why I kinda stopped watching modern kamen rider shows after 2015, I realized it was dumb as hell. You got serious moments in these shows, then they whip out their goofy colorful belt, they insert their little toys into it, the belt starts singing and playing little cute jingles, it's so fucking dumb. Sadly people like us are considered out of touch contrarian boomer retards, and I'm fine with that label, but it doesn't change the fact that it's indeed silly.
>>
Does it count as a device if it's an actual body part (albeit modified)?
>>
That's basically just Agito and Hibiki.
Hell, there are probably more Riders whose power source is explicitly tied to their willpower after they started using trinkets than before it. Zeztz is one and it's currently airing.
>>
>>23706528
i know the crank design make sense for the gimmick but still its so impractical with the cranking start up and finisher. Like build too with added shaking.
>>
>>23706454
is alright if they willed the belt

Just say you only like Showa like a normal person
>>
>>23706454
I like Faiz carrying his belt and gubbins in a briefcase.
>>
>>23706846
listen if you were born with a crank would you not crank that shit
didnt think so, buster
>>
>>23706454
>I don't like the Kamen Riders that uses devices to transform
So you don't like literally any Kamen Rider other than Shin and Gills.
>>
I like belts. I do think it's gotten a bit to toyish.
>>
>>23706865
There is such a thing as going too far.

I could tolerate Kamen Rider Decade. It was fast, subtle, and quick.

But I gave up around Kamen Rider Gaim when he summons a giant fruit from the sky and the sky blasts his theme song.
>>
>>23708865
The crank was added by Dente's surgery, normal gavvs don't look like that.
>>
>>23709046
Gaim was kino.

Goated artist, it's a shame his output has been slowing down these days.

Have you ever watched any Metal Heroes by any chance?

Who designed this crap? You can see the seams and glue on the obvious plastic helmet.
>>
>>23709868
>You can see the seams
Those are the slits for the suit actor's eyes, retard.
>glue on the obvious plastic helmet
Every suit looks cheap if you look close enough.

Retard.

Also Z0 and J
>>
>>23709059
Nah, it was very mediocre.
>>
>>23709868
welcome to modern tokusatsu. literally no effort to make anything look remotely realistic. it's a toy commercial homie.
>>
>>23718615
You're a retard who knows nothing about Toku as well.
>>
>>23718630
prove me wrong, faggot

I think Blade was the epitome of Heisei belt design. The cards made sense, the belt was small and unobtrusive, and all it did was flip around. Nothing weird or stupid. And the show was great too.
>>
>>23706464
Its a good thing you understand you’re the outlier cause if you don’t have suspension of disbelief you will never make it through toku
>>
>>23709139
>They transform in just one millisecond.

I think they're cool.

What makes Blade's belt better than Ryuki's in that regard?
>>
>>23718790
I haven't watched Ryuki in a really long time, but a quick look at the henshins on YouTube makes me think I prefer Blade because there's just a little more involved and the cards are a repeated motif in the show. I also just like Blade more as a series, honestly.
>>
>>23718631
You were proven wrong before you even posted here, retard. Those aren't seams, and this is nothing compared to the helmets with extremely blatant eyeholes of yore, you could literally see the suit actor's eyes through Ichigou's black tears at times, but of course you know nothing about how people see through these helmets because you're a fucking pathetic poser who comes here to claim oldgoodnewbad without having any actual knowledge about Tokusatsu.
>>
>>23718765
Gaim's belt is more compact than Blade's.
>>
>>23718631
>all modern toku is a shameless toy commercial, how far we’ve fallen
>why yes the best toku did come out when I was a kid
> why yes I did buy the toys, why do you ask
>>
>>23718806
True, but the whole fruit chopping thing is, in my opinion, just too weird and silly. I realize these are shows for children, but Gaim is too bright and colorful for my taste. It's one of those shows where everything is clearly made out of cheap toy-grade plastic.
>>
>>23718810
>but the whole fruit chopping thing is, in my opinion, just too weird and silly
Toku in general is weird and silly. Blade is literally based on playing cards.
>It's one of those shows where everything is clearly made out of cheap toy-grade plastic.
Everything in every Toku is cheap plastic, sometimes painted in metallic colors, but that doesn't make it actual metal.
>>
>>23718810
>It's one of those shows where everything is clearly made out of cheap toy-grade plastic.
Anon, they unwind string and reversed footage of foam to show Kaijin deaths in 1971. It is cheap
>>
>>23718813
>Toku is cheap plastic
The ones that are obvious plastic injection mold without paint on the surface are bad because they are first and foremost toys. You see the toy on TV, you buy it, you have no right to complain if they look cheap and tacky because that's how they actually look like on TV.

The ones that are painted to look like metal are good.
>>
>>23718810
>the whole fruit chopping thing is, in my opinion, just too weird and silly.

Then there's the Genesis Driver, which is patterned after a glass of soda and even has drinking straws poking in and out of it.
>>
>>23706454
Cool. Here's an updoot. Now go back to your containment thread
>>
>>23718822
>The ones that are obvious plastic injection mold without paint on the surface are bad because they are first and foremost toys
Yeah, pic related obviously hasn't been painted, it has no shine at all, not even on the chrome gold crest. Old good new bad, am I right?
>You see the toy on TV, you buy it, you have no right to complain if they look cheap and tacky because that's how they actually look like on TV
You can't buy the props shown on TV, the props aren't even the same size as the toys outside of a few instances.
>The ones that are painted to look like metal are good
Yeah, cheap matte black foam looks very metallic and shiny.

Older fags shouldn't dictate kids' oriented franchises. You have to consider what kids today prefer instead of relying on what you used to back in your day as the general standard. There are adult-oriented series like Amazons and Black Sun. You can share your opinions about those adult-oriented series, but don't try to impose your views on today’s main series.
>>
>>23718836
So you think we're only allowed to have opinions about older stuff? Are you retarded? Sharing opinions isn't an imposition on anything. They can and will make these shows how they want to, regardless of how we feel about them. But we're still allowed to talk about our preferences.
>>
>>23718850
Updooted
>>
>>23706454
This is an odd opinion because 99% of all KR use devices. A better argument would be "I don't like Kamen Riders that don't ride".
>>
>>23718834
Are you making the argument that Kiwami arms is a better looking suit than Black?
>>
>>23722920
>Kiwami arms
Even that suit (which I didn't even mention, retard) has a more metallic look to it than Black. And it's directly based on a real life suit of armor to boot.
>>
The problem is not necessarily the toys
The problem is that the stories suck ass, so the toys look extra bad.
>>
>>23706454
You just wanted to post that image.
>>
>>23706454
thanks anon, I have been looking to reread this story for ages.
>>
>>23718765
I think Blade's was the first one that was the 'clip buckle to waist and the rest of the belt expands' design too if I'm not remembering wrong. Faiz had to equip his whole belt at once and carry it around in a briefcase, Ryuki had to hold up their deck to a mirror to materialize the belt and everyone prior either summoned it with willpower or just had the belt suddenly on them when it was time to transform.

Blade's design would be the standard from then on most of the time with Faiz's occasionally being used instead.
>>
>>23718836
Kids preferences are often universal throughout the times, people just don't realize that.
>>
>>23722931
Oh, that’s kachidori. Irrelevant. There’s no gaim suit better looking than black and even accounting for tastes I don’t know what kind of brain damage you need to have to think otherwise.
>>
>>23706454
I too miss the times when Kamen Riders were altered humans either turned into OP cyborgs (like most of them) or OP biologically enhanced ones (like Amazon and Shin).
>>23706464
Agreed about the belts. The longer Kamen Rider continues as a franchise the more bulkier and ridiculous they become.
Wished for simpler, elegant designs.
>>
>>23727136
>>23706464
Here's your simpler, elegant design.
>>
>>23727069
Orange samurai armor is more realistic than plastic bug man, I don’t know what kind of brain damage you need to have to think otherwise.
>>
>>23706454
Hongo himself is one big device.
It's just a matter of presentation.
>>
>>23727138
I like it.
>>
>>23706896
That can't be right because most of Showa uses devices to transform
>>
>>23727136
>I too miss the times when Kamen Riders were altered humans either turned into OP cyborgs (like most of them)
That's not most of them at this point

i was onboard with the design until the shoes, it's not ugly, just feels a bit weird somehow.
>>
>>23727263
No, only Amazon and Black/RX do. For every other Showa Rider the belts are just extensions if the other modifications to their bodies.
>>

RX is heisei
