01/30/26(Fri)13:14:21 No.23730582 I don't know... Animation looks stiff? Like for example the fuchikomas look like they're just a static picture zooming in.
Compare it to this 90s kino:

the look is mostly there, the fuchis are there... who knows about the writing
i'm modulating my expectations but we might finally get an acceptable adaptation of Mobile Armored Riot Police

Not being a fan of Science Saru, I'm keeping my expectations in check. The material from the trailer is clearly from the first full chapter of the original comic (Chapter 2 in collected volumes). I'm happy enough with the overall design, but wish the coloring was less vibrant and flat. Motoko's exploding tits in the poster image is encouraging, at least. Hopefully, the series will stick with mostly adapting the existing comic material and won't be fanfiction, with comic material appended to the beginning and ending. We'll see...

I wouldn't mind more original material if it was in tone with the manga.

I'm less keen on the notion, due to the possibility of a show more interested in the original material than adapting existing comic content. The first manga series should be enough to mostly fill a 12-or-13 episode run; some additional content would likely be needed, but I'd rather see attempts at something like repurposing ideas from Human Error Processer or Man Machine Interface.

I guess that's because they made Devilman: Crybaby; that's why anon isn't a fan.

original stuff is needed OG manga has completely lost its relevance and sacs are also on their way out

Considering the philosophical elements of Masumune Shirow's 80s and 90s works, Toh's writing style likely suits Ghost in the Shell better than a Kaiju series based on Godzilla.

02/02/26(Mon)16:03:02 No.23734932 There hasn't been a single good GitS adaptation since SAC. Why should I believe this will be any different?
