I don't hate it, but I didn't want it to focus more on the grunt work, but Bandai wants Gundams:

-Instead of GM's or variants, the cast uses Gundams, but they're not as good as the RX-71.
-Shiro as an MC just gets worse as time goes on. Optimism and idealism is one thing, but he just comes across as naive for his age.
-Near the last 4-5 episodes, it starts doing a lot of stupid things, like Shiro dodging zaku machine guns on foot and not getting ripped apart or blown away, and Norris with his almost magical teleporting Gouf.

Generally speaking, most American Gundam fans love 08th. If you want to talk to people that like 08th MS Team, go talk to some american millennials, and be prepared for them to remember nothing but the Gouf fight and maybe episodes 2-3

All this stuff about the live action film and it being based off 08th MS, I've seen a lot of people saying uh oh and I guess I haven't been around long enough to really get what they mean.

This always got me hyped as FUCK, mostly because it was on the midnight run and I had to sneak downstairs to watch it with the perfect volume where my folks couldn't hear it, which doubled the excitement of watching it. That's my memory of 08th MS Team, being a sneaky kid and watching it in secret because I couldn't stay up that late.

Except that's kind of ALWAYS been established even in earlier works? See: F91 and Victory where they actually shoot reactors for a desperate nuclear strike?
