They really got the shittiest actor imaginable for the last sentai red. At first I thought Hoeru as a character is just emotionally constipated, but even in these emotional scenes his acting is just really stiff.

I really don't find him that bad, I felt like he did improve overtime and is good at acting pathetic, in this scene aside from his initial squirm I felt he pulled it off well
But I still find it weird how they went with the usual hiring process rather than hiring people who are fans from Sentai, since from Kiramager to King-Ohger they were only hiring fans and it seemed to be paying off really well
But now they went back and while Boonboomger pulled it off by hiring slightly older actors, with Gozyuger Sumino's first actress and Hoeru's actor have a pretty big gap in quality compared to the rest of the cast, it would have been neat to hire Sentai fans for most of the cast for the last Sentai

There is a giant fight next episode and I doubt it's against Candle

Even looking at just toku actors, I struggle to find someone with worst acting than Hoeru's. A lot of people hate Takaharu or Lucky, and even then their acting was better

for a second there, i thought we were gonna get a pic related type of final battle with Hoeru and Rex.

Even with how much of a mess this show became this was a great episode, kino ending.
Also lol lmao at Sumino just getting merked offscreen (sorta).

How do you feel about Fire Candle as the final boss?
>>
>>
>>23733107
It'd be pretty pathetic if that was it for him.
But I can see this show doing that.

Like everything in Gozyuger, not a bad idea on paper.

the Bridan are AI beings, they dont work or think like regular humans despite looking like so. Candle still wanting a true fight against Hoeru despite being angry at June abandoning the Bridan makes perfect sense for something like him.

God the writing in this series has been shit. A handful of good ideas, but garbage execution. This whole episode feels like a Shonen Jump title that got axed and had to scramble to wrap it up, even though everyone knew exactly how many episodes they were gonna get from the start. What a fucking poor entry for Super Sentai to go out on.

Are you talking about Fire Candle? It's just a theory and I presented it as such.
Are talking about Woz? Producers have said he was supposed to be the final villain but the actor gave such a fun performance they changed it.

I would have liked the ending way more if Hoeru had actually been forced to defeat his friends, and maybe if by some secret rule Tega Sword didn't tell anyone, the losers were meant to be erased for the wish to be granted. It would paint the mech guy in a really bad light, but in terms of drama, that would work better for "you got what you wanted but lost what you had". As is, Hoeru doesn't get to fight his friends and is put into this position by some asshole monster who almost destroys the world. He didn't really do anything to get this ending and was just forced into it, so there's not really a "dramatic irony" in how he got the full rings. It also makes his wish way easier, as he can just wish for everyone to come back to life and doesn't have to think hard about what he would want for himself, or how his wish can ruin others. Add to that the stupid choice of introducing a world-destroying monster in the same episode they defeat him, and you have a very confusing finale.
There's also the very weird fact that the last Sentai episode for a while is a 1vs1 battle where the rest of the team does nothing. You guys are meant to be a team, and now for the big Sentai finale the hero has to rely on...the bad guy team. Maybe Sentai does need to go away for a while to think about what it's doing.

According to the most recent interview they considered the show not having a final boss and instead the final arc just being a competition between the rangers, I feel like they could have made a proper mix of the 3 ideas had they planned better, it's weird because the show barely has any filler and the story isn't that complex yet the pacing feels all over the place

I wonder who'll write the Kumade mini-series, I like his character and this episode just reinforced that further but damn I hate how severely underutilized he was as a character
He wasn't as bad as Sakito last year but still disappointing how despite the staff coming up with cool concepts they do hardly anything with them

¥1000 says Fire Candle gets taken over by the spirit of Lex since he took some of his power.

not gonna lie, the fact that they even considered such an idea shows how little they understand sentai and why people like it. The writer just doesn't get sentai
