>Odysseus Gundam when equip with Fixed Flight Unit became Penelope
>Nu Gundam MP when equip with Fixed Flight Unit became Alyzeus named after Penelope's brother in Greek Myth
Penelope also have another brother name Leucadius, so there's likely be a third Fixed Flight Unit in the third movie. Will the third unit going to be a new creation Gundam or using existing mobile suit like Nu MP as it base structure?

Maybe it will maybe it won't. Just because they named a related unit after one brother doesn't mean there has to be one for the other one too.
>>
>>23733192
They'll just make Penelope with extra equipment and call it that
>>
>>23733192
Could you equip a FF unit to a GM?
>>
>>23733221
the MP Nu had to have its head and hips modified to mount the prototype version
a GM wouldn't have the computing power to handle operating it, and probably just collapse under its weight
>>
>>23733202
Yeah, the Argos unit mentioned in the HG manual.
>>
>>23733247
Argos is a different equipment set for Odysseus, it's by definition not Penelope with more stuff

Notice how they have to widen the legs of the Nu to even this design work. Also this is clearly not a Katoki design.
>>
>>23735450
Yep, the kit video even shows that you need to swap some hip parts for the armored form.
>>
>>23735450
Yes, it's explicitly stated the hops were modified to accommodate it. What is your point?
>>
>>23735512
What's the point in story wise to modify a Mass Production Nu Gundam with a "transformable" hip to fit a throw away test flight unit? Also they seem to use the Novel design of Penelope for the flight unit parts.
>>
>>23735633
To sell model kits of course. There aren't many new mobile suits in the novel so they have to make shit up
>>
>>23735633
Probably just took an old machine they had laying around to test the flight system and gather data for Penelope.
>>
>>23735649
>>23735657
I know the real life reason. But there isn't a very good in story reason. This unit is completely incompatible with the actual Odysseus. They might as well just built a separate MS
>>
>>23735671
It's just a trainer unit made for Lane to get used to Penelope's handling. The MP Nu is there because that's probably the only MS they have in their inventory with built-in newtype controls for the funnel missiles.

Building a separate MS is pointless because
>It's cheaper to use existing parts for a unit that's going to be used only for a few test rides
>There's already a superior machine being built
>>
>>23733192
I'm just mad they gave Lane a MP Nu and he just jobbed again
like this wasn't even in the novel dude
>>
>>23735739
>It's just a trainer unit made for Lane to get used to Penelope's handling.

I get that that's the official text but how would a dozen random rocket engines train you for Penelope's magic 3D hover system and funnel missiles
>>
>>23735739
Pretty much, the Feds don't really have any dedicated machines with psycho frame or psycommu, so using an existing mp Nu is the best immediate option for tests.
>>
>>23735739
They had been many instances in Gundam where they built an entire suit to be a prototype. If look closely Alyzeus is actually half of the novel Penelope stuck onto a MP Nu with its original arms and most of the legs. The only thing MP Nu contributed is the main body. I have a feeling the third form of Penelope might be a variation of the novel version

Hathaway's Flash is very mid. Why does Bandai insist on shilling it?

less effort than creating something new from scratch

Parts of the Alyzeus look like the Novel Penelope. If they aren't damaged I suspect the 3rd movie would have a repaired Penelope that looks like the Novel version.

It's pretty obvious that Penelope "Custom" in movie 3 is going to use parts from Odysseus, Penelope and Alyzeus and look a lot like Novel Penelope.

Xi's going to get a similar customized version for movie 3 likely with a classic Gundam color scheme.
>>
>>23733192
What's a fixed flight unit and why does it look so WIDE?
>>
>>23735850
We already knows Odysseus can be equipped with something called an Argos Unit due to the HG manual. That's the safest bet for movie 3.

Since it wasn't in the novel I was hoping Lane would put up a better fight but since he's still jobbing in movie 2 I'm better off expecting another KWABfest that looks incomprehensible in motion.

>Why does a company insist on shilling their product?
>>
>>23735861
It's an attempt to glue ship flight systems on a mobile suit
>>
>>23735773
I mean, it worked. The box office of this 2nd movie is actually 150% higher than the original one. At least for these first few days.
>>
>>23736070
Why don't they just make a flying saucer that is super fast and can destroy mobile suits?
>>
>>23736080
They did, it's called an Asshimar.
>>
>>23736088
Why don't they....keep doing that? Imagine that, an aircraft that can dodge everything and snipe from far away.....what's the point of arms and legs when you can just shoot lasers from your body.
>>
>>23736080
They needed 20 more years to figure that one out and it wasn't even that good
>>
>>23736094
In Gundam terms, Minosky particles are to blame. Planes would need to be bigger to mount weapons capable of fighting ms, but they'd need to fly close enough to engage ms. They try solving this with transforming ms, but they seem yo eat up too much fuel and are a nightmare when it comes to maintenance.
>>
>>23736097
Oh and obviously stuff like Penelope and Xi are newer attempts to fix this.
>>
>>23736094
There is no reason for arms and legs at all or making them humanoid. But why are you watching Gundam of you cannot suspend your disbelief?
>>
>>23736080
Melee

>>23736088
And it had to be able to keep up with everything around it. And suddenly non-transforming MS are better at more static objectives. And suddenly non-transforming MS can be fast as fuck too t. Gaplant and The-O
>>
>>23736094
>Why don't they....keep doing that?
They did; the Anksha is only 9 years old during the events of Hathaway's Flash and presumably still in service. Anaheim and the Federation are using a relatively small-scale conflict to test experimental new technology in live combat.
>>
>>23736094
the big advantage of the FFU is that it allows 360 degree movement in the atmosphere, they no longer need to obey gravity. If you watched the movies, Xi Gundam schools a bunch of MS and constantly appears in their blindspots because it does not need to move the same way as jets and other thruster based MS in the sky.
>>
>>23733192
what is the point of putting some dogshit AIslop filter on the image that rapes the quality?
>>
>>23736584
sorry for being autistic about image quality but jesus christ even the proportions are completely different.
I will never understand why people do this.
>>
>>23736080
They already did that and it kicked ass

How do I guess when it's filter and not some remodeling/rerender?

For a simple testbed, proof of concept unit? Where in the world is building a completely new high performance MS compatible with newtype bullshit less expensive and more practical than just hacking together a new hip unit for an existing unit?
>>
>>23735671
It's just a testbed. It's common with actual modern product development. It's like the Starhopper to the Starship
>>
>>23733227
A GM/Jegan could easily receive modifications to accommodate those things. Probably a lot easier than the MP Nu, at that.

It probably had a lot more to do with the generator output.
>>
>>23737008
You honestly think just using an existing MP Nu is harder than heavily modifying a GM or Jegan. Their frame wouldn't be able to handle it. You'd be right if it was something like the Jesta, since they made more of them and modding it would be much easier.

>You honestly think just using an existing MP Nu is harder than heavily modifying a GM or Jegan. Their frame wouldn't be able to handle it.
Half of Nu Gundam's frame shares parts with the Jegan. Amuro designed it that way to save money and for Nu Gundam to be rapidly repaired on the battlefield without waiting for custom spare parts to be shipped from Anaheim. So yeah, a Jegan could probably be modified.
>>
>>23737213
Don't forget that the Re-GZ forms the core of the Nu
>>
>>23737213
Exactly, you'd essentially need to modify it to the point you'd turn it into an MP Nu, which is stupid when you could use an MP Nu that barely needs any alterations.
>>
>>23736955
It's more difficult to make the literal arms and legs of the Novel Penelope into detachable exoskeleton than to just connect those limbs to a body of a MP Nu.
>>
>>23736751
You can tell by the fucked up details and melting of parts that it's AI.
>>
>>23733192
So at what point do you call it a mobile armour?
>>
>>23737277
When the MS that's inside is irreversibly grafted in, or the only thing you can extract is some limbless escape pod
>>
>>23737277
When it stops being able to hold a beam rifle
