It is so weird that Hathaway is obsessed with Quess and acts like Char, but Char was responsible for what happened to Quess, and Quess cared for Char but took Hathaway for granted.

Yeah. you could have Hathaway reacting badly to Char using her and attempting to kill everyone on Earth, but... barely any character seems to hold what the Zeon factions do against them. This is a problem even in Tomino's UC, although it becomes even bigger later on. The fight against Zeon never feels very personal even though considering the scale of the conflict and number of deaths it very well should be. It's hard to believe all these people haven't been touched directly by it at all.
