Arios being kinda meh makes it seems like they have plans to make him a UR, so is Defender Cherudim and Support Seravee, those two are definitely getting a role exchange in UR, Ribbons is 100% getting a UR, they even recorded some secret extra lines when piloting Nu and God for him. Thank you! I thought I was the only one. Everyone always hype shit out of EW wing with his angel wings but those always annoyed me. They look frail af, they don't serve any purpose other than to look cool as opposed to TV Zero's wings that are more aerodynamic and close to extra thrusters and that unexplainable "molting" (does Heero packs a bunch of bird feathers inside the wings everytime he's preparing for a dramatic entrance?). Speaking of Setsuna, I noticed we don't have pilot suit versions of the Season 2 team, just their signature uniforms while scouting. Don't tell me we have to wait until, like, 00I or something to get them? Just to remind people, we have alternate unit versions of each machine for the Meisters to pilot:

Odds are pretty high that the ULT unit for a 00 Movie dev tree is probably going to be something else; my money is on some variant of the 00 Qan[T] or the Exia Repair IV from Re:Vision being the ULT unit... unless they decide to save the Exia R4 for a future banner as a UR with Graham Aker (CB) as the pilot.

Wouldn't be surprised, honestly. I'd also consider the Raphael Dominions, or even the Dynames SAGA from Revealed Chronicle as possible candidates, since the latter is the Dynames Repair from the movie, but with most of the Cherudim SAGA's equipment bolted on. The Dynames Repair III from Re:Vision is also a solid candidate as an ULT unit, since comparatively, no one really gives a rat's ass about Laetitia Erde as a character, while Graham Aker was literally revived from the dead and asked by Setsuna via Quantum Brainwave ELS bullshit to sub in for him and work with CB to keep the world safe while he was off having dialogues with the ELS in their home world.

Realistically speaking, the Dynames R3 is essentially a slimmer, nimbler Virtue without an armor purge or Trial System gimmick, with a more lightweight version of the GN Cannon better suited for sniping. The real problem is that the defender class is fucking useless. The defender and support class should be combined into a single class, or the defend ability should be split between attacker and support and the current defender units should be reclassified and adjusted for one of the two. They're borderline just sacrificial units on expert, with a handful of exceptions. I wouldn't say defenders offer 0 utility, but they offer so little that the class's function should just be dissolve.

An understandable opinion liking that design more. For a giant robot having more robotic 'wings' has its charm. Plus the shield sticking around.
On the other hand, EW living up to the name even more, with the wings serving as shielding and parachuteless re-entry, it's a fun trade-off. Same with Heero having to duke it out without the hand shield, it's a different display of skill.
Maybe that can help assuage your hate so it's at least not a negative whenever you see it. Every series has some funky design elements I don't like, but I can't say I've ever had a suit take away from my enjoyment.

Praying for a Limited UR Defender Crossbone Gundam X3 + Tobia Arronax... and that they use its original faceplate design--I'm so fucking tired of seeing the homogenized Ver.Ka bullshit being inflicted upon the X3 when it pops up in video games. MAP Attacks, pretty useful on any class honestly. Most useful for attackers typically because higher damage, but they're good on everything. Snipe maps are next to useless except on defenders and supporters where they have debuffs. Single-tile line maps are... okay. The "pick a plus shape from a ring around you" maps are a little better. Cone maps are great, wide line maps like ZZ are great, twin-lines like DX are excellent, and all-around maps like WZC and Devil Gundam are incredible.

Damage up based on full/high HP is usually the most valued because it means you hit hardest from t1 and stay hitting hard if they don't get damaged. You want to make sure any of these are in line with any passives.

supporters tend to have two debuffs, one with a stronger value and one 5% weaker, with the effectiveness based on rarity. URs get to 35%, limited URs get to 40%. Def Down, Beam Res Down, Physical Res Down, Special Res Down, look for units that have good pairings of these on longer ranged attacks and use the ones that benefit your team most. Some units like Calibarn get higher than normal rarity debuffs. Some units get 6 range with SSP, like GM Sniper II, WZC, and Wing Zero TV.

defenders need strong skills that increase their damage resistance generally speaking, like said before more move is most useful to them. Their debuffs are focused around weakening enemy attacks or mobility. Generally speaking, mobility/eva debuffs aren't that great for most things and you'd rather be debuffing their attack. Like Supporters there are debuffs for each type of weapon, so it's again about the combo that's most relevant for the enemy really. shield defend is extremely desirable here obviously.

Pretty much, and both Heavyarms and Sandrock were going to get final battle upgradesas well, but they were scrapped.
Meanwhile:
-Altron got his tv beam cannon with wings.
-DSH got two sideskirt shields that work similar to DS shield, plus it regained the extra beam emitter for the scythe, but it now points upward.
-WZ EW got the shield back and the transformation.
-Sandrock gets assloads of optional equipment, but it notably got a buster rifle late in the manga, plus the shield was still a thing.

pretty fucking rarely honestly. The best SRs compete with the best SSRs but ONLY when SP'd. It's also, even with SP, still a small fraction of SRs that are truly so good. Lots of SRs require going all the way to SSP to become truly good, and that's a heavy investment that's pretty much just nice if it a unit you like happens to get a good result. The development SRs that truly rank among the SSRs are very few, and surprisingly the gacha SRs have almost nothing notable at all. All the standout ones are dev SRs. And to be real, it's mostly just Freedom, ZZ and Enhanced ZZ and particularly when they're SP'd, although there are more usable ones from later series. Again though most of those are also only truly good or impressive when SSPed. Every since they introduced SSPing they've made it more of the gate to jump through to make SRs really good, and even then a lot are lacking. Extremely rare for them to get 3 skills, for instance.

Unfortunately the Zeta dev trees are almost completely full of trash outside the SSRs. If you ever play this game long enough to get into it and try it the Zeta dev clear eternal road sucks balls and part of it is that the bulk of units are utter trash and the other part is there are almost no good pilots to use, even with welfare quattro now it's a struggle because the stage asks you to split up all over the place and you really need most pilots to hit.
Truthfully you will have a much better time if you work backwards from your assumption and disregard the outliers. For clearing the series in general just build your strongest freeteam you can out of SSRs and URs you have. You can read everything if you want and take it super slow, but I'd suggest skipping everything and going back and rereading stories later if you want. You can autoclear everything with a team of level 90-100s. You want to do this to get to the Hard Missions which reward you with dev SSRs and mats and all that good crap. Plus diamonds for everything. It's quite easy to clear every story and hard stage, it's just about building your free team to be strong. They specifically design them to be easy to clear to be done quickly, there's a lot more harder content that's fun to figure out and you'll want a variety of units and all.

His damage ends up great, 7200 power on the EX, Setsuna has 703 melee at base and that gets increased by 20% and then 50% with the MP Lock. 00 Raiser then gets two +10% attacks on it's abilities and then the 25% Unit Skill too. Sure you can only max it out for 1 turn but he's still doing good even before the MP lock, and by Turn 3 you'll just be finishing up whatever boss you're fighting anyway, so he can get in there, dish out some good damage, soak up whatever damage is coming his way alongside reducing attacks by 35% with the EX and everyone's happy.

I like the idea of a shield with Wing Zero EW but I don't like any of the Katoki shields very much in any of its models or Proto Zero's, they're all weirdly shaped except for Wing EW's which is a pretty cool shield.
Basic TV Wing has one of the sleekest shield designs of the whole franchise though I wish it just had that shield.

Cherudim is just a tanky asshole and probably the best 00 defender discounting the 00R and a SSP'd All-Terrain Tieren while Seravee is your best 00 supporter unless you're willing to SSP certain things. Seravee also has the purge armor gimmick after it gets blown up.

The G-Phenex absolutely makes sense as the ULT unit, and not just in a strict "anti-Reconguista" unit sense, what with it being piloted by Mask, you know... the designated Char clone of the series?
While there are some noteworthy exceptions, a good chunk of the ULT units of each series' development diagrams have been machines built or used by the antagonist factions or individuals of that series--Char's Gundam, the Psycho Gundam Mk-III, the Beta Azieru, Ulube's Gundam. Annoyingly even though technically they did show up in one episode of Destiny, the EA has no underwater units in the Destiny dev tree, so at best they'll be relegated to gacha hell. The ZAFT side of the dev tree has the ASH but it's only an R and the attacks are kinda lackluster. Since it's just R rank, that means it's cheap as hell to make 4 of them and MLB the ASH if you really need to fill out the gaps in your team, but the Abyss Gundam is just so much better.

I personally like the story and recommend it. The way the stages are laid out, it gets progressively harder as you move on to series farther to the right. It's not impossible for you to take on 00 if you're already finishing ZZ, but you're going to have to spend a lot of time leveling up your units since I think you said your URs are only around level 40-50?

Casval's Gundam (MSG) and Delta Kai Gundam (Unicorn) are great attackers. I've seen Red Zeta unit 3 be used in guides often since it has some useful debuffs. Hyperion Gundam (Seed) is an alright defender, its defensive skill works against any ranged attacks as opposed to just beam OR physical.

You remembered! And yeah they're around that, but the missions for the Alzeus had me bump it and Lane up to where my URs are, and I feel a bit uncomfortable with the idea of leveling him up past that, since neither of them are my favourites and I don't want my URs to feel neglected.

I'm supposed to also start Seed AND Endless Waltz, I've watched Seed but I'm only on ep 37 for Wing. Also, if I skip the story, I miss out on the neat battle dialogue and narration, and I know for a fact that I'm never ever going to replay the stages, so effectively I'm neglecting the entire story for the game and that feels really mean. I'm still reading intently for 0079 and Zeta and I intend to do so for ZZ as well.

Amaterasu has 1k more defense, the same 30% reduction, a 35% 5 range attack debuff(hyperion is 3 and 25%), a 5 range special debuff(hyperion has a 4 range mobility debuff), a map(hyperion has nothing), and better terrain. There is basically no reason to use hyperion outside of it's tags maybe meeting your specific team needs better.
