Actually what I hate is the idea of unconditional love, because yeah no fucking shit I'd be "cured" of my schizoid behavior if someone unconditionally loved me until I no longer felt the need to be hostile towards everyone as a defense mechanism due to the misguided belief that, eventually, someone I love will leave my life and I'll be left with a gaping hole in my heart. From all I've seen from the MLP fandom most ships are crack or just a friendship that people liked a little too much. All Tamers did here was give his ships a context and a history. And I find that pretty based. What frame of comparison do you have for Soarburn or even ApplePackage? I don't think those characters ever interacted on the actual show. I can't imagine anyone else putting that much effort on making it a thing like Tamers does anways.
Perhaps it's just a matter of personal taste but the chaotic relationships make more sense to me considering the nature of most characters in Tamers. Romances are boring as fuck in most media once the relationship is already established and there aren't any stakes anymore.
Any ship can be real as long as ya believe. It doesn't need to be canon. Or do ya think Tamers was waiting like a bitch for Sega to make Bardonic? Sega ain't that based come on.

Canonicity doesn't affect quality. It's canon in pony MLP that Rainbow Dash and Applejack are marefriends due to the last episode of the series. That doesn't mean that it's automatically good. Soarin and Braeburn never interacting in the show, which means Soarburn is non-canon, doesn't mean that Soarburn is automatically bad.

What's bad about Soarburn, specifically, is that it's unbelievably superficial and the saccharine moments that happen where the music swells and they confess their love after having a near break-up experience is manipulative, both for the characters and for the audience being duped into thinking there's more there than there actually is. I don't like shallow relationships. That's the short of it. I don't like Appledash not because it's canon, but because it's shallow.

What made Bardonic so compelling to me was, at the time, I believed it was an absurdity being played straight (irony included). It wasn't trying to be an author conveying an interpretation of a relationship in an attempt to convince the audience "this is what love is, for better or worse". It started with an overly-muscular nude man weeping with a smile as he physically abuses and rapes a rotund blue hedgehog child with a huge ass. That's absurd. No one was finding themselves and their own lived experiences in Bardonic. It didn't truly evolve into anything more than that because it didn't have to be more than that. It's the "perfect relationship" because Sonic's fat ass is the only ass in-universe that can withstand the impact of Bartleby fucking, and Sonic is such a fat bitch he loves getting his colon rearranged. It's still absurd. It's still not trying to be more than what it is.

If we stick with Soarburn, specifically, we watched in real-time as Braeburn acted as a hyper-sexual rape victim who actively cheated on his 50 year-old virgin boyfriend with Braeburn's own cousin and exhibited signs that he'll never be satisfied even when being supported by a billionaire so he doesn't have to dig in the dirt like a poorfag redneck fagboi because Braeburn is apparently so aggressively desirable he's not only constantly getting raped, he also mindbroke a pseudo-alicorn-become-god that after the heat-death of the universe all said god cared about was smashing that Apple ass.

No, because it started out as a bog-standard yaoi relationship that was desperately clawing its way to an elevated status with "deep, complex, emotional progression". I write the instructions for many and proofread the English translations of some user manuals for a living, which I can perform at home while the little ‘un and the missus are at school/work, respectively.
