Been nostalgic for pone, so I'm gonna fill the hole in my soul/satisfy the craving the only way I know how.

Not surprised
>>43008936
Learn the anatomy first, as for the gestures, you gotta play around with them in your head. When I was younger I used to think about man handling a cat, posing them and playing with them too. It helped, but after that it was more practice finally paying off.
>>43008952
I've been told I make good refs, so I hope they help.

I'm a different glimmy fag but I too have been learning how to draw since like 4 months back. I've figured out a decent look I like for the anatomy but I plan to start doing more dynamic poses soon. Do you recommend I stick with pencil and paper for now (for practice) or go back to drawing digitally since that's my eventual goal?

reminds me of dotkwa in training
kinda unfortunate you made me remember them as while i love their pony style, they've apparently practically abandoned it to draw loli and furry, sad to see

The Stare also comes in "Come Hither"
>>43008979
Do both. Think of it like an overlapping circle graph, except the over lapping part takes up the majority. Yes, there are things that don't translate from one medium to the other but those things are very few. You'll have much more success doing both than one or the other/one before the other.

It's the way of things...

>What anatomy for pony to learn
Depends on the style you wanna go. You wanna do show accurate? Bean. And I mean PROPERLY learn the Bean. Wanna get something a little more stylized? Might need to expand the anatomy to other quadrupeds if only to get the shape theory down.
>>43009077
>how are your lines so smooth and good?
The short answer. Years of drawing. The long answer. Speed Drawing and Timed Drawing. It makes sense, trust me.

Dunno why you plan to die on this hill. Either you're baiting or projecting some deep insecurities. But if you actually wanted to and tried you could learn to draw too, depends on your goals and such.

"If I fail at something I don't try, it's because I was set up to fail" always pops up in these types of threads the second the word talent is uttered, you should consider it background noise by now and tune it out.

Just a heads up, my processes vary from pic to pic. This one more or less is what happens when I speed draw. Very little construction if at all.

As I said, the nostalgia hit me, my days as a horse lord are long past me. I'll probably only linger as long as the thread is alive, unless my itch gets scratched or I burn out early anyway.
It is what it is.
>>
>>43009310
Thats a pretty interesting process! I've very rigid when I plan out my stuff, I should learn to erase more and let loose lol. You definely have a more disney inspired charm to your stuff.
Definetly going to look into doing some of those drills. Thanks anon, cute rarity!

Sad. Do you have an artist tag on derpi? I'd love to check out your old art. It looks so familiar, but I can't put a name on it.

My pics never made it to any booru as far as I know, but you can look under the name Spackle or some variation. Spackl3, Spakpak and maybe Spookle. That one was during Halloween.
>>43009339
I used to draw in dark purple if that helps.

I come back from RL and I see evil before me. You could of kept that to yourself, but you've broken my heart instead. How could you?
>>43009388
I was most active during the last two seasons and a year or two after the finale.
>>43009389
Ugh, that's the EXACT shade of purple I used but that is definitely not mine.
>>43009398
Pre sketching is only something I do during more complicated pics. Like something that has a lot of detail work/multiple characters interacting with eachother/etc.
Starting from the eyes is just a me thing, I think getting a face down when you're doing a portrait is more important than the body. Now for something more dynamic... Actually I'll make another video for that.
>high visualization.
You ever have the running/skating man during a long car drive as a kid? And you could almost see him? Something like that but maintaining the drawing in your head. And it doesn't have to be picture perfect, it just needs to be what you're wanting to put down. I've been doing it passively since I was a kid though and I'm 35 now, I'm not sure if you'd get the same level of visualization if you start now and/or actively practice it.

Look, maneless or tailless ponies are twice as naked as a normal naked pony. This here is 4x naked. What's next, ponies with hairless bodies, bald and pink like newborn rats? I'm not sure how to feel about it. There's a sexual component to it, sure, but it's also a thing by itself.
>what were you expecting her to be wearing?
What would she like? How about workwear?

Mostly loose sketches, yeah. But I can put in a little effort for more. It really just depends on what I want and/or if I'm in the mood.
And multi character isn't really all that much extra unless you're trying to get a very specific kinda story telling vibe. Then everything has to be perfect placed and posed.

Alright I'll concede that a tail that short probably doesn't cover much, so she's more naked than normal. Nontheless, I'm not complaining.
>workwear
Like a construction site, or an office? She looks like she might be a royal guard, so armor? But what if she just wants to relax, Anon, THEN what does she wear?
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>43009548
Like Torque Wrench. An apron? A semi-overall?
>She looks like she might be a royal guard
Really? Alright, may be a field engineer.
>But what if she just wants to relax, Anon, THEN what does she wear?
Now that's easy: bath robe and slippers.

Posing is all about fucking around and finding out. Don't just stick to what you think/ what you've seen. Sometimes all you gotta do is mess around. Sometimes the legs won't match up with the torso but you can just divide that in half if the halves themselves work. Slowly you'll build up your mental library and be able to mix and match stuff you've done before and poses should be easy to come up with.
>stiff
Imagine them in idle animations instead of just in "photograph" It helps a bit. And for more fluid stuff you just gotta push it. You'll go to far a lot but eventually you'll learn where to stop before it goes to weird.
>>43011441
Nothing that was posted, but I practiced enough.

I hate this style of anatomy and every time I see a new artist adopt it I lose another iota of hope for the fandom. Opening this spoiler actually gave me a wave of nausea. Please do ANYTHING else. You're a decent artist and I hope you continue towards in a beautiful and constructive direction.
>>
>>43011746
I have adopted one simple philosophy when it comes to drawing stuff you don't like. You should be ABLE to draw it anyway. Even if you don't like it you should be able to do it, cause how dare something stunt you in anyway. Sure it makes you cringe/barf and you'll never draw it again in your life, but fuck having blind spots.
