Parcel Core, Clean Sweep, and Future Soarin are tied for the worst stallion characters.
With the latest stallion episode, PC has the most potential for a redemption arc of those three but even so, he still feels as forced as the therapy scene in the same movie he premiered in; said scene is the most washed up moment in the entirety of post-TDOTS tamers we've ever seen.
This is partly why Dandy's World is preferable to another gay stallion episode. At this point, Dandy's world is doing the gay drama better.

I think there's a problem with the OC's reception. So let me preface it with something that Tamers said a couple times.

>"This is not an OC show"

This took me a bit to understand because so far the headcanons are so wild most people have personal interpretations on how the characters act as their "Tamers version". Very early on at least you could at engage with the videos because those were characters most people already knew and already liked prior to knowing Tamers stuff. Some hated it, some embraced it as it's own shit. Characters like the mane 6 are well established outside with multiple headcanons and media interpretations and are very easy to understand from the get go. Even characters like Braeburn, Soarin and Big Mac but to a lesser extent. But that's not a privilege that the "OC" characters have. But then I dig deeper into it and just realized. Most OC's don't have a clear goal defined anymore. At least not the ones introduced post-CleanSweep. And because this isn't an "OC focused show" they cannot have enough screentime because if they do and people don't like them you end up with another Clean Sweep situation where you have 2 movies dedicated to him and still most people can't find reasons to care about him.

What's an OC or not varies from people but if the headcanon is too strong that it cannot even resemble the og's version anymore. I think we're steping into OC territory. I've heard people saying Mari wasn't an OC just because she's Trixie's twin sister and it doesn't really make sense to me. I believe a character it's more than it's design. But we can make a compromise.
Let's say there's an OC'tism spectrum (lol). In Tamers you have the mane 6 which are real characters that even when exagerated you can get thet're based on the original 6 (Except for Fluttershy), then characterers like Apple Split and Care Package that have designs that came from real background ponies but with barely any character of their own (Their personalities and story are the OC side of em). Then the PURE OC'TisM donut steel. Flawless, Arinos, Friendship, Parcelcore, etc. Characters like Future Soarin or Mari are so derivative in their origins that I'm not actually sure where to put them. But they're inbetween this sandvich I suppose.

What's a focus for an OC?
I'm gonna shoot myself in the head for this example but Apple Split and Care Package are great examples for an strong introduction.

Whether you like this characters or not you have to realize lots of people have already conected with them and understood what's their deal and goals and you can tell by the reception alone.
Now having a set goal in mind is not exclusively necesary for a character to be loved. Flawless started with nothing but conviction and just by that trait she bruteforced her way to become interesting. Characters having an strong beliefs vs their enviroment are also valid. But compare this to a character like ParcelCore.

Introduction as powerful OC (Quite literally an OC made by another character). Kills everyone on a whim. No explanations, no anything. Exists and knows what it is. Perhaps he wants to get revenge on his parents for not letting him destroy everything? For letting him get captured? (I wonder if he was actually killed like Flawless in his movie it would have been better than if he just went to jail time. What Flawless did to revive was an asspull sure but it lead to connections with the Equestria Girls universe and it was at least kinda fun to watch unfold).

And lots of characters have been devolving into having this issue.
Lack of focus. Even characters like Big Mac that had problems lingering from previous arcs. But cannot get proper screentime anymore. Soarin and Braeburn took a long stepback for the better just because their stories were solved. There's not much to them to do anymore other than stick around. And everyone is competing for attention. Not just on the stallion side. But even on mare side things have gone way over the rails. I'll say even more because it's even more loose in terms of continuity. What happened to Luna and Celestia's arc? Coco Pommel? Rarijack/Raridash? While one can say on going arcs take months to develop I think the main difference I feel between mare and stallion way of writting is how they decide to "play catch up".

They've been doing shit/nothing and they just keep going with their lifes after timeskips. No explanations (Or those are very brief, if there's any).
Examples: Mary (died and revived, no real explanation), Glimmer for a while, #13420 (Never see her grow up), Coco Pommel (She's just there after becoming an alicorn and suddently she's Shining Armor step sister), etc.
It's more akin to a sitcom in that regard where you see characters just living life with no consequential stuff happening around them until PLOT hits em in the face.

Narrate all they've been doing so people don't get lost.
Examples: Future Soarin (Massive explanation on where he comes from), Apple Split (Timeskip from BigMack goes to College to AoD), Arinos 'n Friendship (Appearing very briefly sometimes until plot demands them again and explains what they've been up to on Housewives), Clean Sweep (They don't fret too much on what he's been doing prior to becoming a cat thing. But his rivalry with Future Soarin and conections with Friendship and Arinos are mentioned a couple times when he appears so people don't forget).
That said, I think this is more of a consequence of stallion Tamers having to divide attention between Dandy's and Stallions. So every Stallion MLP episode comes once a month or so. Despite the last two episodes being more SOL inclined they still have progression for some characters slip onto them.

So for the more puritans that don't consider the previous characters OC's. I'll make a rundown of why certain characters "fall flat":

>Clean Sweep
Doesn't know what he wants. He's said it multiple times. All mouth no bark and his development is being held back for whatever reason. Current love arc with Big Mac isn't engaging enough for most people due to being a rehash of a previous arc.

>ParcelCore
No goals, no proper objective or motivations other than being a force of destruction. Maybe revenge?

>Fractured
Massive misspotential. Implied wanting to fuse with her other self to become stronger but that's it. Just as empty as OG Flawless. Nothing has been done with her yet but after many appearances being mogged I fear she won't be as relevant by herself. Only when she's with Flawless.

>Future Soarin
Only objective is to win Big Mac's love over Clean Sweep's attempts. Not compeling anymore since we've seen an arc like this with SoarburnMac. No real consequences if he doesn't achieve it and he's shown remorse over exploting while not getting what he wants and all signs lead to him letting Big Mac go so Clean Sweep doesn't lose the only thing he cares in life.

>Friendship/Arinos
Barely coming back from arc stasis. Friendship just wants real friends. Arinos wants to discover who he is while also having to deal with his corruption. Fall flat over not developing their proper arcs after their redemption in Infection. They're at least given some stuff to do after half a year.

Now if we talk about characters that people love that's more relative. I think characters are going to be loved regardless if they're important or even interesting. Arinos has done barely anything and yet he keeps getting more love than most stallion OC's. Same with characters like #13420 that we get to see very sparingly. Mari despite being revived over nothing with the biggest asspull yet keeps getting more and more fans and people dig her relationship with Glimmer. Most of what I've been pointing out it's a rundown of what I believe people's perception is about this characters with some of my points. But honestly I think people are welcome to enjoy whatever character they want. But having a character that drags the narrative could become it's own issue.
Overall, I trust Tamers because many of the complaints have been resolved in their own way. People were complaining about lack of SOL episodes for stallions. We've gotten two in a row. People didn't want Clean Sweep, he's been taking the backseat.
First impressions are important, no doubt, so hopefully we'll see some characters take action before it's too late.

So I've decided to make an updated version of the timelines.
I'll try to keep it updated but here some sidenotes.

>Neutral episodes leaning towards stallion timeline

For this graph I've tried to prioritize order of upload, character exclusivities and the storylines. Episodes like StarSong and Toola Roola Come to Visit or Scootaloo introduces Rainbow Dash to her family have a tendency towards the stallion timeline due to having characters like Scootaloo's aunts (Which only appear on stallion episodes) and Toola Roola and Starsong (That have mostly appeared on neutral episodes and stallion ones). The first episode could be considered pure neutral but it's the one that kickstarted Braeburn's arc so I believe it's leaning more towards the stallion timeline (Actually now that I think about it the SU crossover had a follow up since Twilight still remembers it for the next one. Oops). Meanwhile you have neutral episodes like Lemonade Stand that contain Pinkie Pie sisters but they also appear at Braeburn and Soarin Wedding so they're not timeline exclusive.

I'm trying to leave character mentions out during the first season because that was when they still tried to hold onto a single continuity. Even Trixie appearing at Hot Pot was odd.

I've talked about that episode at length in the last thread. I'm still very conflicted about it because they appear in both timelines but never had any relevance in either post that first episode. They appeared at the end credits of Shattered Harmony and as a cameo in Twilight Fights a clown and Alicorn of Death. But since they haven't got another episode the only thing that it contributes to the timeline is Twilight mentioning Trixie's gone for her training with Luna. That's why I put it on true neutral.

There's also a montage on Porta-potty when Apple Split is narrating his backstory you can see clips from DoTS. Also a Flawless cameo during the credits. Mentions like that are very brief. If you ask me I think the divide was starting to get more apparent in Soarin and Braeburn's wedding (When Twilight mentions "her new window" that Fluttershy destroys referencing the previous episode from mare timeline when her house gets destroyed) and the breakingpoint being Pinkie pie and Rainbow Dash break up (Where the stallion scene got scrapped was used for Alicorn of Death post-credit scenes). Everything after that hasn't made any sort of attempt of keeping up with the conections between timelines. Coincidentally, since the Dandy series began there hasn't been a single truly neutral episode. (Style-wise I think Pinkie Pie And Rarity Bake Halloween Cookies is the last episode made by both of them together but I digress).

It would have been a stallion episode/neutral if that scene didn't get scrapped. That episode has more conections with the PinkiePie and RainbowDash breakup arc from the mare timeline when their relationship is starting to fade. They're still together at the end but the drama from that episode still carries on in the Ski Trip episode. Also RD starting to show more interest on Rarity.

For a long time people pointed out the "Two Timelines Theory" and had that episode as the first sign for it. Because in that episode Twilight rejects Trixie and in the next episode she appears has Twilight changing her mind completely and it felt so out of place that it stablished itself as it's own separate line.

That said, there's multiple shared constants on both timelines. Characters can appear in both but that doesn't mean they follow the same story. Scotaloo and Sweety Belle eyeswap is a constant for both timelines and it happened on a neutral episode. It's mostly a mix of wild guessing and trying to put some pieces together with all the plotholes in a way that makes "sense".

So we have two situations in which the universe gets "rewinded" or "rewritten". First with Soarin changing a random timeline where he never meets Braeburn (Infection) that directly affects an earlier episode. Repercussions of the time travels are very inconsistent and somehow inconsequential due to the movie being messy about that in favour of spectacle but that's all we get from it. And the second instance would be Trixie in Death of Trixie Lulamoon where she destroys and rewrites reality. And does it again in the Flawless farts Open a portal to another dimension movie to retcon Mari's death.

Although it is not clear what exactly could have caused the split the theory suggests that both timelines take place at the same time, but also that characters can appear in both without having the same story arcs or living the same lives. I don't think it's an intentional choice by them but it could be interesting if explored (most likely never but who knows).

TLDR: Trixie isn't as important on that episode and Twilight's attitude towards her contradicts mare timeline.

For me it's The WORST Skii Trip Of Pinkie Pie's LIFE.
I'm a sucker for the winter aesthetic, especially snowy cabins and lodges.
That combine with good character interactions, wholesome moments, laugh out loud comedy, an entertaining fight scene, amazing music, etc, it all works together to create the best episode of Tamers MLP ever and most definitely one of, if not the most underrated episode of the series that i feel should be discussed more.

I usually hype up Death of Trixie Lulamoon so I'm being genuine.
The sol stuff at the start was nice and cozy. Felt like it was going to be a nonsense episode like Hotel or Lemonade Stand. Then Mari stepped in and stole Coco's heart. It was a good cliffhanger and brought on intrigue as we see Mari and Trixie in the credits.
Bulk and Derpy were amazing as an unfortunate couple.

But if I were to take Tamers own word with how much he seems to talk on the chat I think it'll become way too convoluted so I'm just taking the episodes at face value. If we take that episode as part of the mare's continuity, Twilight shutting down her emotions doesn't explain Trixie coming for Twilight's help in DoTS. I don't think Trixie would have done that if that was the last interaction they had (Or maybe so? But I don't think that's the most important thing here).

We're just trying to guess where each storyline belongs. I think we can be discussing here all day about if a character should have done something or not. But I just want to make it simpler. An episode like Hot Pot is crucial to stallion's timeline. Trixie's appearance is only circumstancial. And even if I put it on "neutral" Trixie's appearance isn't substantial enough to be relevant for the mare's plotline. Even less if it does not amount to anything other than just being a reminder she and Twilight have a thing going on just like the wedding photo on Pinkie Pie's Sleepover episode (Which is a neutral episode because we can see PinkieDash being developed on both timelines/ also Scootaloo and Sweety Belle eyeswap).

Gotta remind also this is still a "theory". While I don't believe Tamers planned for this split to happen organically, it was simply the result of different creative visions on both sides. I believe there is still a way to establish a map where we can see how each episode best fits into the continuity. Or maybe one day they'll suddenly make an episode that completely denies it but so far that hasn't happened. So fuck it we ball.

Trixie has nobody else in DoTS, she has no family as is known, no home(Twilight's friends destroyed her wagon) and among all ponies she personally knows Twilight was not only the only alicorn but the only smart person with possible knowledge on the princesses one of which was the very reason she needed help in the first place so realistically Twilight was the only option in her eyes. Shutting down her emotions or not Twilight was the only person willingly 'nice' to her in recent times(stopped her from killing herself and then threated her own friends over bullying her and taking her out on a picnic). ED's showed she was kinda always just stuck in Ponyville's area after losing her cart and DoTS starts with her camping out somewhere relatively close to town in the rain.

It's not like she doesn't show up when Twilight doesn't want her around either way, her first episode was her, a normal bitch, challenging the student of god who was also a higher being and fucking with her electricity and sending a pipe bomb to her mail over her onesided rivalry. After that there was of course Unicorn con where she's the one to try and uplift Twilight in the bathroom but both deny any actual feelings between the other with Twilight being confused over it and asking rarity on advice. She could have left Twilight alone that day. Trixie's appearance was as important as the photo in sleepover, a moment where no one says anything in the episode but the implication is clear

Hot pot is a neutral as the very next episode is a follow up all the same to Twilight's feelings being a background matter and that which she doesn't understand or acknowledge at the time. on that note: break up is more or less neutral as both sides have PinkieDash's relationship since it was a general part of Season 1 which, unlike 2-3, was actually planned out after the crossover. If the episode doesn't feature Trixie or the stallions, it's usually just natural since stuff like the CMC is all episodes related but also primarily stallion related first as the plot was about retarded alicorns which only Soarin was at the time. Same with buffet being neutral as it's pretty much only about the CMC rather than bringing up Trixie, AB's homelife or brother, or anything else, it's mostly just a filler episode never brought up again but all characters appear in both sides(Save for Scoots parents who just once again leave and were stated to go right back to the rain forest)

As I said, I don't think we're going to get very far by trying to guess the characters' personal intentions here.
I take at face value if an episode belongs to a timeline mostly considering where their arcs lean into the continuity. That's also why we have troubles with the G5 episode. It features a Twixie mention but also most of the cameos from G5 come from stallion episodes after that. Only one on mare's during the credits of Shattered Harmony.
I could align it towards neutral as a stallion/neutral episode but I'll like to hear other's opinions if they care to read all this bs.

There's another thing that has been bugging me and I might as well ask rn.

Post S&B movie (Which Tamers said himself to consider it as the end of season one and also makes sense it is narratively) everything after gets messier. We have lots of neutral episodes mixed in and it feels like both stallion and mare sides have their "own season finales". So all those movie-sized episodes, which can serve to start or conclude a story arc, are scattered all over the place.

Movies post 1st Season:

(It only has 3 episodes between this one and the end of season 1. Not a possible season finale or starter)
>Death of Trixie Lulamoon
(Better contender than SH but still not exactly a definitive "closure". Although having a character killed only to revive it next season it's more akin to the tradition)

(Not a season finale. It's basically the middle portion of the first ApplePackage arc)
>Infection
(Best contender to a season finale to stallion side. Multiple conclusions for lots of characters)
>Flawless Farts open a portal to another dimension
(Big special. If anything feels like a season begining. We get introduced to Mari and Flawless as part of the family)
>Outbreak
(Season beggining for stallion side after Infection. Kickstarts a new character and the new arc for Big Mac)

(Other than that last sequence that feels like a finale I don't see it? The introduction at the beginning made it seem like the start of a season)

Infection seems the most logical Season 2 finale. But after that, I really have no idea where to draw the line between seasons.

I feel this is a bit of a separate issue as a whole, more over a conflict of interest between either: You had the obvious Twixie portion of that initial episode but then you also have the Hitch & Scout portion and then the conflict begins there on weather either actually had an interest in G5 fully and what for. SH's ED has a seeming desire from one of them for it to be Zipp and Hitch while the original episode wanted it to be something like the next gay stallions but then S2 came around and he picked up background ponies apple split and care package and essentially got entirely sidetracked and just focused on them and dodging G5 almost entirely since they aren't really important to anything and more or less felt like an early one off example of how he can just do what he wants like fusing them into the main timeline rather than being in the far future with Twilight still being sunny's supposed idol despite, in that world, kinda being a bum by the time she meets sunny. G5 kinda ended up being the zatch bell crossover of the series where, due to how little anyone cares about G5, there was no reception and even for him using them is kinda pointless given the other just decided to introduce BG ponies and turn them into full originals along side the fact he knew people wanted flawless back before SH so planned to bring her back at some point since she was so popular.

The easiest idea he just lost interest with them since they can't further either sides story and, in the case of the mare episodes, doesn't like directly retreading his yuri that much and instead prefers to have Twixie & Shining's three way as his side's focus before he made Mari and added Starlight as a 3rd relationship to follow. It may have just come down to neither knowing what to actually do with any of G5 as a whole

Don't be racist about this, Tamers is very anti racism, he only makes non humans black coded with the majority of non human characters in his shows being white and it's the white characters who are portrayed as being worse people, especially compared to the black characters.
Here's a small list of the non human white characters from Tamers shows.
The Hedgehog family, the Latour family (Except Flora who's adopted.), Sleet, Dingo and Bartleby from SU.
Celestia, Twilight and her family, the Apple family (Except Apple Bottom and his parents.), Care Package, pretty much every pony who's literally white from MLP.
Pretty much every single character from DW except Cosmo until stated otherwise.
There's also everyone at the Tournament of Power BBQ except for Flora and Picalo as stated by Vegeta.
There has also been a lot of jokes at the expense of white people too, as much if not more than black jokes, especially in recent years.
